Interaction with guests
I don't live at the premises, though I am a 15 minute walk away. I give my guests space to enjoy themselves (and I hope they are respectful of the quiet neighbourhood!). We have a 24hr booking team to answer questions quickly, and I answer any questions they can't as soon as I can (given work and sleep constraints :D )
Check-In is self service at any time of day after 3pm. Checkout is by 11am
Other things to note
We also provide a curated list of recommended places to visit for each of our properties (and some of the more central areas too) which we update regularly. We hand-pick these places for each area to give the best balance of accessibility even if you don't speak or read Japanese, while still giving you some suggestions a little more off the beaten track compared to standard guide-books.
We are also software developers, and are working on apps to make your life a little easier when travelling. We have finished our first app aimed at travellers, a cool little app that explains dietary requirements such as Pescatarian, Vegan and Gluten-Free in any language. While we can't share this here, we do share this out with our check-in information. We hope it is of some use to some people!
I'm pretty relaxed, but I do ask a few important things:
- Please don't smoke inside.
(There is a pocket ashtray and lighter available if you'd like to smoke outside, but please put the ash in the ashtray and return it afterwards!)
- Please be respectful to the neighbours. Primarily, don't make noise outside after 10 PM.
- Please clean up after yourself.
- Please ensure the bikes are put back in their place. They are placed there as no-one lives in the house they are placed in front of (the one on the opposite side to the apartment, closest to the street).
I have been working and living in Japan for 9 years, the last 4 of these are in Kyoto. I love it here and hope you do too!
I run a small software studio called NEKOLOGIC. The profits of our Airbnb endeavours go back into software development, where we hope to make things that are of use and fun to travellers to both Kyoto and everywhere else.
Our first app is called NomNomNom: Travel and Eat Freely - an app to help those with special dietary requirements (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Peanut Allergy etc.) explain this in multiple languages when they travel. We can't share the URL here but please do search the full title on your favorite search engine :)
We are also working on games to help people learn Japanese in a fun way! Watch this space!
