Other things to note

We also provide a curated list of recommended places to visit for each of our properties (and some of the more central areas too) which we update regularly. We hand-pick these places for each area to give the best balance of accessibility even if you don't speak or read Japanese, while still giving you some suggestions a little more off the beaten track compared to standard guide-books.

We are also software developers, and are working on apps to make your life a little easier when travelling. We have finished our first app aimed at travellers, a cool little app that explains dietary requirements such as Pescatarian, Vegan and Gluten-Free in any language. While we can't share this here, we do share this out with our check-in information. We hope it is of some use to some people!

I'm pretty relaxed, but I do ask a few important things:

- Please don't smoke inside.
(There is a pocket ashtray and lighter available if you'd like to smoke outside, but please put the ash in the ashtray and return it afterwards!)

- Please be respectful to the neighbours. Primarily, don't make noise outside after 10 PM.

- Please clean up after yourself.

- Please ensure the bikes are put back in their place. They are placed there as no-one lives in the house they are placed in front of (the one on the opposite side to the apartment, closest to the street).

Great location, major bus lines are a short walk away and Kyoto University is about 15 minutes away. The residential area it's located is nice and quiet, with many shrines all around. The apartment is really nice; very modern with a lot of space and any necessary daily amenities. I'd definitely stay again if traveling back to Kyoto.

We had an amazing time at Liam's apartment. The location was perfect! Easy accesses to all the sights, great food, and transportation. The bikes and pocket wifi made traveling around the city convenient and comfortable. The apartment itself is spacious and clean. We would definitely stay again!

Quiet little neighborhood spot within easy bike ride of Gion and many shires and temples. The Gion area with its history, classic small streets full of great small shops and restaurant's is a must see.

The main problem with this listing is the location. The reviews I read before booking said it was a good location, but it was very far from everything. At least 35 min. walk to the nearest food or attraction. Two pairs of bikes were supplied which was helpful, but one of them was in very bad shape with a broken brake cable. We are a young energetic couple who love to walk and even we found the distance disturbing. The apartment itself was as described and seen in the pictures. All amenities as needed, missing nothing. The cleanliness though, left something to be desired.

Great location, beautiful clean apartment. My only issue was with the wifi, we were having trouble accessing the in house wifi and to boot, the pocket wifi was 1.5 gigs over capacity. So the pocket wifi didn't work until the last night (June 1st), we ended up paying extra for a data plan just to get around and find cool locations to check out and eat at. The bikes were great, we used them every day to get around. Kyoto is a beautiful and quiet place to enjoy.

I have been working and living in Japan for 9 years, the last 4 of these are in Kyoto. I love it here and hope you do too!

I run a small software studio called NEKOLOGIC. The profits of our Airbnb endeavours go back into software development, where we hope to make things that are of use and fun to travellers to both Kyoto and everywhere else.

Our first app is called NomNomNom: Travel and Eat Freely - an app to help those with special dietary requirements (Vegan, Gluten-Free, Peanut Allergy etc.) explain this in multiple languages when they travel. We can't share the URL here but please do search the full title on your favorite search engine :)

We are also working on games to help people learn Japanese in a fun way! Watch this space!
