This was our first visit to Istanbul and we had a fantastic time. The apartment was in a perfect part of the city for us, being located very close to very hip and groovy areas full of nice cafes, restaurants and antique shops. All these in walking distance.
Access to public transport was very easy too, so visits to more distant sites are also unproblematic.
We arrived very late at night and were welcomed by Miko's friend Emre, who was extremely friendly and helpful with advice, even offering to spend a day with us to show us around or being on call at any time should we need help.
The apartment itself was cosy, warm and comfortable and we immediately felt at home. The fact that it has two terraces, the top one with stunning views across Bosphorus, makes us want to return again when the weather is a little warmer!
Miko is a very honest man, and communication with him was at all times pleasant, fast and informative. I highly recommend this apartment and will happily return - it is the perfect base for exploring this fascinating city.
We enjoyed our stay at Michelangelo's apartment, it was well located, had an amazing view of the Bosporus, especially from upstairs and was just what we needed for 1 night in Istanbul. Appreciated being welcomed by the host and his wife.
the living room is amazing. You can join enjoy the view and feel so comfortable and homie! The kitchen is fully equipped. We cooked our home food at the flat. Only the bathroom is a bit not so good and the bedrooms are a bit old. Anyway. my friend and I had a great time!
Michelangelo and his wife were absolutely wonderful. They gave us lots of information about Istanbul. This apartment is on the 6th and 7 th floor, no elevator. All luggage will need to carry up by hands. This is a wonderful college student apartment. A little small for a family with two kids.
Stayed there for 5 nights and it was a wonderful time. Michelangelo and his wife took care in the beginning and offered to contact them for any occuring question - but there was none. They recommended many places to see and to eat but we managed to only go to one - the "Aret" - a very simple and basic but wonderful place. Thank you Michelangelo
Michaelangelo and his wife waited for us to arrive and made us feel very welcome. The apartment is incredible - one of the best places I've stayed in, very unique and me and my boyfriend felt so comfortable there. The area is ideal, it's in the 'arty' neighbourhood close to the centre and everything is within walking distance. What can I say - if I ever go back to Istanbul I hope to stay there again, it was perfect and michaelangelo and his wife are great hosts.
My boyfriend, me and a befriended couple stayed in Michelangelos apartment for 4 nights and had a great time. Miko provided us with all the information you can wish for in advance, including a paragraph written in Turkish for the taxi driver which proved to be useful :) he and his wife Emre greeted us upon our arrival and patiently answered remaining questions.
just a couple of hints for future guests: the place looks bigger in the pictures that it actually is, especially the ceiling in the upstairs double bedroom is very low (you cannot stand upright in it). the convertible bed in the living room (the one with Homer Simpson on it) is not very comfortable to sleep on, as the two parts create a gap at the height of your butt. and, as already mentioned by other visitors: do travel lightly to be prepared for steep and narrow steps to climb.
Nonetheless, we had a nice stay - thank you, Miko, for being a helpful and responsive host!

i am an italian living in istanbul since more than 14 years!!
i love this city, its narrow streets and bazaars, its magnificent mosques and hidden churches, its superb landscapes and back-alley eateries...
when i am not travelling around the world, i teach in the turkish university.
i seldom work with travel agencies as guide of walking tours into less-visited neighbourhoods and hidden jems of the city for culture-aware travellers. dont hesitate to ask if you are interested in having tailored walking tours for you, or maybe to join some tour together with other guests.
My beautiful turkish wife and I are looking forward to host you in this most magnificient city of splendors, history and life
