About this listing
This beautiful three story chalet is less than a ten minute car ride from the quaint town of Sainte-Agathe and is situated right next to the picturesque Lac des Sables. During the winter months you can drive twenty minutes to the Mont Tremblant.
Escape to the beautiful lakefront community of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, just over an hour north of Montreal in the ancient Laurentian Mountains well known for it's vast forests, lakes but also endless recreational opportunity, and vibrant cultural offerings.
This three story Franco-Canadiana house was once an English boarding school for boys and has since been lovingly converted to a beautiful and comfortable home with traditional French Canadian styling and modern luxuries. There are three large bedrooms. On the main floor, you will find a huge contemporary kitchen, with all amenities required for a discerning stay-at-home chef. The open concept layout leads from the kitchen to the large dining area and great room, complete with a real wood burning stone fireplace. Relax in comfort with spectacular views of the famous Lac des Sables on one side, and untouched Quebec forest on the other.
There are two very spacious and modern bathrooms, one on the main floor with a large, fabulous Jacuzzi tub, and the other on the third floor, a lovely shower. There is an abundance of storage and closet space throughout the house. Entry from the lower level provides a great place to clean up your gear, store your skis, hiking boots, or snow shoes. There is also a large games room, great for kids or playful adults, with a huge table tennis facility set up for hours of fun on a rainy day! There is a secondary living room on this floor as well, which offers comfy sofas and additional sleeping areas if you have a really large group.
In addition to the living room, kitchen and dining area, the main floor of the house also contains a spacious full bathroom and a bedroom with two twin beds.
The third floor of the house consists of a small sitting and reading area, as well as a huge master bedroom with a wonderful king size bed. The views from this room are serene and will give you the impression of sleeping amongst the trees. A second bedroom consisting of two double beds is also located on this floor.
Adjacent to the house is a small art studio for the owner of the property who lives in the house next door. It is a private, bright studio, often with colourful pieces of regionally inspired pieces on display or in development.
While staying here, enjoy direct access to Lac des Sables, with a private path linking the property to the shore of the lake where you will find a dock with a paddle boat and kayaks for your use. Take a lovely walk around the bay and you will be in the heart of the village in little time, with access to postal service, cafés, great restaurants, a library, theatre, banks, grocery stores, bakeries, etc. Truly an ideal setting for getting a taste of Canadian wilderness, while still being able to enjoy the benefits of civilization when you really want to.
The Ville de Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts runs a winter carnival for the entire winter season, and a summer festival throughout the summer. Summer activities include hiking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, etc. In the winter, enjoy snowshoeing, world class cross country skiing, and skating on the beautiful lake. It's a short drive to Mont-Blanc ski resort and about a half hour to the world famous Mont-Tremblant ski resort.
Life on chemin Tour du Lac is fabulous and you will love your time experiencing the quietude and serenity of Quebec village life. Let us welcome you!
It is possible to make transportation arrangements with us from the airport in Montreal, or from the central city. Given the proximity of this lovely house to the village, it is not always necessary to have a car with you.

Very traditional cottage-home experience. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, plates, tools, spices, cutting board etc. The place was clean and spacious. The Wifi works, but you have to plug in the modem in the upstairs living room. The host didn't know much about the property, as she is probably managing the AirBnB side of things and isn't the owner. We met a nice man who was the owner, and he told us about the WiFi, lent us two additional kayaks, and a badminton/volleyball set. Very nice guy :)
The BBQ is charcoal so bring your own if you plan on using it. The lake is nice for boating/kayaking. They have three kayaks and one paddleboat for use. The location is very close to the stores (IGA, Maxi, Walmart etc.) Overall, it's a nice place to stay.
We were greeted by the owner as soon as we arrived. He gave us a tour of the place, offered to help with our luggage and to answer any questions during our stay and also left contact info if we had trouble using the Wi-Fi or TV. Very friendly and helpful!
Home is large, inviting, and immaculate. Kitchen was super well-stocked, from cookie cutters to fondue pot. Beds were comfortable and there were numerous sitting areas, both inside and outside. Felt like home away from home.
Need to be mobile to manage stairs going up to house and down to dock (which is across the street). There's no air conditioning but lots of windows that open for great air flow.
Location is easy to reach and served well for relaxing locally and as a base for visiting nearby towns. Would definitely stay here again!

Excellent fin de semaine dans cette grande maison propre, confortable, très bien équipée et au calme.
On reviendra avec plaisir
We were warmly welcomed into this fantastic chalet! We really had a great weekend. It was plenty big enough for the 6 of us. The location was beautiful and the kitchen was really really well-equipped!
The WiFi didn't work, but we didn't care and enjoyed the weekend without it.
