Come stay with us…..animal lovers are welcomed! I’m a songwriter who lives in Bethlehem, PA, which is about a half hour from the Martin Guitar Factory in Nazareth, about an hour north of Philadelphia, two hours west of NYC, and within 2 hours of historic Lancaster and York. I’ve lived in Bethlehem for over 26 years and although I’m not a native I consider this home.
The guest room is on the third floor of this single, brick home. It’s most of the third floor so it’s a fairly spacious space, with both a queen sized futon and a single bed. There is also a desk and small end table. It used to be the room for my adolescent children and still bears some of their marks.
We share one bathroom, which is on the second floor and has the basic sink, toilet and shower/tub combination. There are towel racks and hooks for use. The house itself has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 3 other bedrooms, and a small garden area as a back yard. With two dogs and two cats, it can be a pretty lively place, but everyone usually calms down early in the evening.
Breakfast is available. There are usually bagels, cereal and oatmeal on hand and I keep the world’s best coffee available—from LaColombe, if you’re a coffee addict like me.
If you’re seeing the sights of Musikfest or wanting to stroll through the historic district before settling in, dropping off your bags early is not a problem. I’m within walking distance to the downtown historic area, Moravian College, Musikfest and Christkindlemart. I’m within a mile or two of the new Steel Stacks performance venue on the southside of Bethlehem and you can walk to the Delaware/Lehigh canal rail trail from my home. There are very good restaurants within walking distance, and several pubs and bars where the locals gravitate.
Note: I’m an animal lover so upon entry you’ll be greeted by first the two dogs—one a terrier mutt rescue and the other a purebred English Setter. Our rescue mutt is still struggling with anxiety/fear issues and he’ll sound the alarm that will convince you he’s about to do you serious harm, but once you give him a few treats (I keep these by the door), he does settle down. The setter will simply give endless kisses. There are also two cats that do have free reign of the house although all four animals have limited access to the third floor space.
There is a small back yard that is primarily a garden space. Feel free to use the swing or sit on the back or front porch. There are a couple of birdfeeders there that provide endless entertainment as you watch the birds squabble over who gets what seed.
Staying with Bonnie and her dogs and cats was very pleasant and comfortable. We had a nice time in a big room fuul of great books and board games. Bethlehem is close to NYC and Philly, which was perfect for day trips. We really enjoyed staying and Bonnie´s recommendations for different restaurants in town were awesome.
I was traveling from Texas to NYC and Bonnie's house was my second stop of the trip. Due to traffic delays I arrived late. Bonnie was very accommodating and was great to communicate with. The room is the 3 floor of her charming house. Her 2 dogs and 2 cats were very friendly. Despite having 4 animals the house and the room was very clean and hair free. Bonnie offered to feed me breakfast and coffee in the morning. I would recommend Bonnie's room and would be happy to stay there again.
Bonnie was kind and helpful. Her pets are entertaining. I was in town on business so didn't really get to experience my surroundings much.
This was our first time using Airbnb, and we couldn't have had a better first experience! Bonnie was very kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. The room was made up with everything we needed, including a notebook of local places to eat and things to do. The location is great as well, being very close to some of the most interesting historical landmarks of Bethlehem. Animal lovers will also enjoy being around Bonnie's 2 dogs and 2 cats, who were all very sweet! Overall, we definitely enjoyed our stay, and plan to stay with Bonnie again when we come back to Bethlehem!
Second time to stay with Bonnie! Had a very good night's sleep! Same wonderful experience as the first time!
Bonnie and her daughter were such great hosts. They went above and beyond by having warm coffee made in the morning. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Bonnie was very nice and understanding. My boyfriend and I are both Lehigh graduates and we went back for the Vespers and to see friends. We arrived really late at night (~midnight) and she had told us she was sick so she had slept earlier. She left everything prepared for us so we had no trouble getting in or finding everything. We woke up the next morning to a welcome note and invitation to help ourselves with anything in the fridge. Her two dogs and two cats are very cute and extremely friendly, so we had no problem with them at all.
All in all it was a great experience and I look forward to staying with Bonnie again next time I go back!
No words could explain how THANKFUL I am to Bonnie and her daughter Rachel for being MORE than a host to me and my mom... Their warm welcome and genuine concern made me feel like we were FAMILY!!! The room was exactly how it looked like in the picture PLUS they even gave us free coffee and towels to use. They have a booklet of the good restaurants and cool places to visit nearby. Most importantly, when I thought I would be late for my interview because of a big misunderstanding with the taxi company, Bonnie offered to drive me right away! Such a kind-hearted lady! THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!! When I go back to Bethlehem, I would definitely stay with Bonnie again!!! =)
We spent 2 nights with Bonnie while on college tours in the area. Bonnie's attic room was perfect for us, just as described. Bonnie was flexible and accommodating, her house is clean and comfortable, her pets adorable. Breakfast supplies were available to us each morning. Had we not been busy all day, it would have been nice to walk over to historic Bethlehem district which is nearby, but in Nov. it gets dark very early. Bonnie's notebook of local eateries, complete with maps helped us find a spot for dinner. I enjoyed chatting with Bonnie and getting a local perspective on the towns and colleges we were looking at. I can wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Bonnie's.
Bonnie could not have been more wonderful and accommodating! The loft was perfect...cozy and quiet! Definitely recommend!
