Beautiful and cozy private room, right by NESA (New England School of Acupuncture) and the Charles River in Newton, one of the 10 safest cities in America:

Visiting the greater Boston area for business, pleasure, or visiting one of its numerous universities and colleges but don't want to stay in downtown Boston or Cambridge because of the astronomical cost and/or safety issues? Newton is the safest of all the areas in the greater Boston area, as well as being super convenient- whether by public transportation or by car!

We are about 15-20 minutes by public transportation from downtown Boston and South Station/Back Bay/Chinatown, etc., from Harvard Sq/Central Sq and Cambridge, about 20 minutes as well, and a 10-minute walk from Watertown Square and Watertown Yard, from where you can hop on a number of buses that connect to the greater Boston area with ease -- buses 57, 59, 70A, 504, 502, and 71 are all a short walk away!

**Acupuncturists and other alternative/integrative medicine practitioners: we live a stone's throw (a 2-minute walk!) from NESA, the New England School of Acupuncture, and a 10-minute walk from the Watertown Center for Healing Arts.

And it's beautiful near here- our apartment is located right by the Charles River: walk/stroll on the beautiful trails by the river, take in the rich wildlife, go fishing, kayaking or canoeing, or go picnic-ing in one of the numerous beautiful parks in Newton. • I had a wonderful time staying here. While I couldn't meet Chris who was out of town, Afroza was a wonderful host. I enjoyed discussing several topics of mutual interest. She was also kind enough to drop off an item I'd forgotten at their place... thank you.

The room is cozy and beautiful. The house is also tastefully decorated. The location is a short 10-14 minute walk from bus stops which easily take you to Harvard Square, MIT or South Station.

    I'd highly recommend staying here.

  • I spent 5 days at Afroza and Christopher's place just before moving in my apartment in Cambridge. I only met Afroza because Christopher was away for his job. I really enjoyed the time I spent there. Afroza has been very kind and helpful with me and she prepares a very good "vin chaud". The apartment is always kept very clean and that has a biiig importance to me. Ohh, and the cats Maurice and Meerkat are both very cute!
This is definitely the place to stay in if you're looking for a quiet and clean space, at nice people's place.

  • If you want a home away from home; a place that is comfortable and clean with pleasant hosts, then stay with the Van Leeuwen's. It was the perfect place for me. I had my own room. I came and went as I pleased, and I was walking distance from NESA, nightlife and a grocery & drug store. It was completely hassle-free.

  • Christopher and Afroza were wonderful host, Enjoyed the area, had no problem finding a bus, restaurant or bakery, enjoyed the path along the Charles river, nice to get out and walk where their wasn't any traffic, Found many things to do in the area and what I didn't fine there, it was a bus ride away, If you are there on the weekend the noise from the traffic may keep you awake, otherwise it was enjoyable. Thank-you

A gracious, tolerant, and respectful couple with a spare guest room in the safest part of the greater Boston area. Afroza is a graduate student at Harvard University and owns her own consulting and tutoring business; she grew up in New York City and is first generation Bengali-American. Christopher is a community organizer who has been involved with the Progressive Movement for almost a decade; he grew up in Michigan and is of Dutch heritage. Life motto: do unto others as you'd have them do to you. ---------------------------------------------------- In keeping with the ideals of hospitality, previous guests have been offered to join in a hot meal, some tea, or in sharing a bottle of wine over warm conversation. However, we are also pretty hands off and respect our guests' privacy. We value our guests and the experience of hosting through AirBnb; we are willing to work with our guests to accommodate them to make their stay more comfortable. We have rented out other spaces through AirBnb before - when we lived in New York, NY, prior to Newton, MA - and enjoy the experience of meeting people from all corners of the world!
