About this listing
Completely private room and bath in the historic Mexican War Streets of Pittsburgh within walking distance to downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, the Mattress Factory, the Warhol, the convention center, and many restaurants and theaters between.
I have a private bedroom and bath available. The room features an antique desk, a new full bed, and a private porch with a comfy couch overlooking a beautiful yard. The room also has a radio alarm clock, a hairdryer, an iron, and an ironing board.
The Crazy Mocha coffee house is a short walk away. This neighborhood was laid out during the Mexican American War, and thus features some really old and beautiful townhomes. My house was built in 1890.
Parking is available in front of the house. The Allegheny Commons Park is a short walk away--great for running or just relaxing by the pond. Beyond the park (a 15 minute walk) are PNC Park, home of the Pirates, and Heinz Field, home of the Pitt Panthers and the Steelers. Downtown is about five minutes beyond.
Other attractions include the Mattress Factory Museum (right around the corner), the Byham Theater (in the park), the Andy Warhol Museum (down by the stadiums), the Children's Museum (in the park), and the National Aviary (in the park).
The immediate neighborhood is very quiet, but there is easy access to buses on Federal Street (50 yards away) and North Ave. The 54 bus is a 35 minute commute to the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
All I really ask is that you don't do any serious or lasting damage. No smoking inside.
Guests should park in the back and arrive at the back door on the porch. Knock and give me a call/text and I'll be down to let you in. After that you can come and go as you like when you like through the same door.
Let me know if you need any extra towels or pillows or restaurant advice.
Charles welcomed me as any good host would. He was able to work with my arrival schedule and showed me around the room before leaving me with the key. It was very quick and simple. He also recommended places to eat, which were great. As to the location, it's a great neighborhood. The only caveat would be the stretch of blocks on the way to his home which seem dangerous, but I work in Newark, NJ so that was nothing.
Charles' place was great! It is located close to many of the things I think are so great about Pittsburgh (the mattress factory & the Warhol museum). We got in late in the evening and had to leave early in the morning so we didn't have too much time to explore. Our room had a private entrance so it was easy to come and go as we pleased.
Charles was very welcoming and provided an excellent place to stay. Although it says private room, it is more than that since you have your own washroom and a back deck. The neighbourhood is charming and a very short walk to PNC park. Charles even provides tour magazines about the city, similar to what you would have in a hotel room.
Charles had a nice private room at his house. He was kind enough to help us out with printing off some tickets when we arrived which made our trip much easier. It was a great location for visiting a game at PNC and we had a nice walk to and from the stadium. He had great recommendations for places to go before the game, and we would love to stay in that area again.
Very comfortable bed, great value, adorable kittens. Parking directly outside the home. Considerate and friendly. This space met our needs, and we would be happy to stay again.
Super accommodating guy. We arrived in Pittsburgh about 1.5 hours later than we intended, but Charles was happy to help us get settled. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice location. Will definitely stay here again if I come through again!

About the Host, Charles
I moved to Pittsburgh about two years ago. I've spent time traveling in foreign countries and across the US, and I've benefited from the hospitality of other Air BnB hosts. As far as hosting myself, I'm pretty hands off. You will have your own private bed, bath, and entrance. Looking forward to meeting you and helping you to explore Pittsburgh,
