About this listing
Completely private room and bath in the historic Mexican War Streets of Pittsburgh within walking distance to downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, the Mattress Factory, the Warhol, the convention center, and many restaurants and theaters between.
I have a private bedroom and bath available. The room features an antique desk, a new full bed, and a private porch with a comfy couch overlooking a beautiful yard. There is an off street parking spot for guests. The room also has a radio alarm clock, a hair dryer, an iron, and an ironing board.
The Crazy Mocha coffee house is a short walk away. This neighborhood was laid out during the Mexican American War, and thus features some really old and beautiful townhomes. My house was built in 1890.
The Allegheny Commons Park is a short walk away--great for running or just relaxing by the pond. Beyond the park (a 15 minute walk) are PNC Park, home of the Pirates, and Heinz Field, home of the Pitt Panthers and the Steelers. Downtown is about five minutes beyond.
Other attractions include the Mattress Factory Museum (right around the corner), the Byham Theater (in the park), the Andy Warhol Museum (down by the stadiums), the Children's Museum (in the park), and the National Aviary (in the park).
There is easy access to buses on Federal Street (50 yards away) and North Ave. The 54 bus is a 30 minute ride to the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
See 'House Manual' after you book.
All I really ask is that you don't do any serious or lasting damage. No smoking inside.
The house has a free private gravel parking pad in the back. Guests should park in the back and arrive at the back door on the porch.
I have two kitties and while they shouldn't be in your room sometimes they hide under the bed and then shoot out the door. Please don't let them out! Let me know if they do get out and I'll gather them from whatever mischief they're in.
We were in town for a concert, and spent some time exploring the city. Charles' place is perfectly located to reach many destinations by foot, and easy enough to reach many more by car. The room was clean and comfortable, and easy to find and access. Off-street parking was definitely a plus. Great stay overall!
The room was exceptionally private and comfortable. The private entrance was really great for me as I was out a lot on business during the day and having the back porch to myself was also a nice plus. Charles made sure I had everything I needed and even let me do some laundry during my stay, which made my trip very easy. The north side is a great spot and I wish I had more time to explore!
We stayed for two nights at The house of Charles. We saw him a few minutes. IT was confortable to stay. The two days we visit Pittsburg. IT is a Beautiful town. And we walked a lot en have seen a lot of things.
The place is cozy and quiet and Charles is patient and hospitable. Just what I needed! Thanks! I wouldn't recommend walking here from downtown after midnight (as I did) as it will take you through a dodgy area. Once you're there, it's a perfect place to crash for a single or couple.
Stopped in Pittsburgh during a cross country road trip. Checking in was easy, wifi worked well, and everything was as described, plus a few extra cute touches. Good neighborhood--we walked to dinner and the Warhol Museum. Perfect Airbnb experience.
Charles is a very friendly and helpfull owner. It was a pleasure to stay in his house, neighborhood is ok :) and close to the downtown, walking distance about 15-20 minutes...
We appreciated Charles' willingness to work with us. As our arrival got later and later, Charles made provisions for us to get in to his place after midnight. We were looking for a place to leave our car while we were gone for about 10 days. He steered us to a good place to park and our car was there and unharmed when we returned.
The listing itself is a comfy bedroom and bathroom. It has its own private entrance. There is no breakfast, no access to a kitchen or other rooms, no TV, but good fast wifi. So if what you need is just a place to sleep, as we did, this place is just right.

About the Host, Charles
I moved to Pittsburgh about two years ago. I've spent time traveling in foreign countries and across the US, and I've benefited from the hospitality of other Air BnB hosts. As far as hosting myself, I'm pretty hands off. You will have your own private bed, bath, and entrance. Looking forward to meeting you and helping you to explore Pittsburgh,
