We had a lovely weekend in the cabin. It's very cosy, and the location is perfect, just on the edge of Snowdonia. Delyth and Iwan were very helpful, and left out Welsh cakes when we arrived! We'd love to come back!
Cabanwen was the perfect place to stay over new year, despite the stormy weather! It was warm, cosy and quiet, and we enjoyed cooking our own meals in the evening. Thank you Delyth and Iwan for a very comfortable stay.
Cute little cabin in the mountains of Snowdonia! Despite some bad weather, we enjoyed mountain walks and a horse ride at Snowdonia Riding Stables. Cabanwen & the family were great!
The cabin was absolutely lovely. It was very intelligently designed with fittings placed very efficiently and seemingly eco-friendly too. When we arrived it was a Sunday night, so we were informed of alternative arrangements to the bus (since they were not running), so had very good and easy directions in which to get a taxi from the nearest town Caernarfon which was just some 3 miles away.
During our stay we did not get to see the family, since they were away, however we were left the keys and notes about how everything worked - this was fine. It was incredibly windy the first two days and was quite loud in the cabin, although the excellent heating system meant we kept cost indoors just fine!
The excellent appliances ie, the hot, powerful shower and the heating system meant despite the weather we still had an amazing time - we only had one clear day and with that we headed straight up Snowdon :) an amazing experience not to be missed!
We only got to say goodbye at the end of our trip, but I can wholeheartedly say this is a wonderful abode to stay in for a real getaway in the countryside :)
Local things not to miss:
Welsh Highland train from the village Waunfawr through the mountains!
Dinner at Blackboy Inn in Caernarfon,
Exploring the dungeons at Caernarfon Castle,
What a fabulous little gem in the heart of Snowdonia. Delyth & Iwan were great, especially as we arrived an hour after we said we would. The cabin is ingenious in its layout with so much crammed into a small space. The beds were comfortable and warm and just what we needed after running the Snowdonia Marathon. I will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful stay in Delyth and Iwan's cabin. It is cosy, we'll appointed, clean and tidy. And the bed is super comfy.
