We had a great time at Vermont Bed and Breakfast. It was in the perfect location for visiting central Vermont, Vermont Law School, Hanover, NH, etc. The place was clean, comfortable, convenient, and a great price. Evelyn was gracious, welcoming, and her breakfast was amazing.
She was great! It was such a cozy historic house. She left us a great breakfast too. Tsunami the kitty was so friendly as well
Very nice stay in a wonderful setting. If you are looking for the "Vermont experience," look no further. Evelyn is a wonderful host and will make you feel right at home!
Evelyn was a great host, her son was there to welcome me when I arrived as she herself was at the local Farmers Market in South Royalton with her scrumptious quiches and pies. Shopping in the Co-op on my way to Evelyn’s, I was told she was a wonderful cook – a great start to my five-night stay while I attended a stellar jewellery course in nearby Bethel with the acclaimed Celie Fago.
Royalton B & B is a comfortable and charming olde worlde family home, dating back to the mid nineteenth century, where Evelyn’s relations had welcomed her for many childhood holidays and which she and her family had acquired some time back.
My spacious comfortable room on the ground floor had great drawer storage, comfortable chairs, and easy access to the bathrooms. My room looked out on green pastures where hens and ducks pecked, a private and idyllic location. I felt transported back to my own childhood holidays staying with childless aunts in their rural homes and my whole being relaxed deeply into the peace of beautiful Vermont in this very welcoming house. It is a long time since I came away from a stay away from home feeling so refreshed and revitalised.
Evelyn sometimes joined me in the sitting room in the evening, she was interested, knowledgeable, highly intelligent, thoughtful and entertaining, and a great inspiration, having homeschooled two of her three children. Our evening conversations added another dimension to the quality of my stay.
Her cooked breakfasts were varied and delicious, I found the vegetarian gluten-free quiches delicious, and there was always a special fruit treat (cherries, strawberries, melon, grapes) in a bowl on the kitchen table throughout the day if one felt peckish, as well as a fridge dedicated to the use of her guests, which meant I could store lunch provisions for each day. I purchased one of her really delicious quiches to bring as lunch to share on the Sunday of my course and everyone loved it.
Thank you, Evelyn, for allowing me into your home and heart!
Once again, Evelyn out did herself and (Southampton) Royalton was grand.
The house is always so clean and yet do lived in. My sheets were soft, bed dreamy, and kitchen smells divine. Oh and the ducks! They greet you in the morning and you wake up happy. All I need to know is if she does mail order pies...
I shall return...
Evelyn a tout fait pour que nous soyons à l aise et nous a donné plein de cionseils et d (website hidden) sur la région
ses pancakes sont excellentes!!
Evelyn was a great host and the accommodations were just what we were looking - rustic, tucked into the mountains, quintessentially Vermont. Our host treated us to some homemade pies, quiches, and preserved foods she sells at local farmers markets, and we met several other kind, down-to-earth folks who had reserved other rooms for the night. Definitely recommended.
