Huge space to chill while visiting Monterrey, very well located and very cozy.
Big studio and a room with private bathroom, free wi-fi, fridge, microwave oven, books, AC in the larger room, hot water, spartan furniture mixed with designer stuff and a small balcony, very nice space just by San Pedro and very near old downtown Monterrey :) Close to Parque Fundidora as well.
FYI: the place is part of my two floor house; this level has a private separate entrance and has full privacy.
The place comes with:
- Queen size double bed (2 persons)
- Sofa in bedroom
-Some chairs and small tables
- Fresh linen and towels
- Wireless internet connection
- Fridge and some kitchen supplies
- Bathroom with shower, lavatory and sink
- One large room with AC
-Small balcony with a view
- Paintings-sculptures and some art in the walls
-Books and magazines
private 2 room studio with a full bathroom with private entrance and a balcony.
Since I am not always around I do not interact a lot but I am always available by mobile if needed.
Safe and very well located neighborhood. Around: convenience stores, restaurants, gas station, drugstores and a hospital. Close to downtown Monterrey and San Pedro.
The Catarina and San Carlos are 2 really really good regional cuisine restaurants, both in ave. Morones Prieto, a walking distance from the studio.
There are some museums nearby: Marco, the contemporary art museum as well as the History Museum are located downtown by the macroplaza, which is 10 mins by car. The Fundidora park, a former steel factory which now have several museums and exhibitions spaces as well as cinema and performing theaters is located also like 15 mins away by car. In there is possible to rent a bike or just walk around the gardens, eat at the Lingote, a very good restaurant inside Museo del Acero (steel museum), visit an exhibition or watch a film.
If you like nature you should go to the mountains and into the forest at Chipinque National park for a view of the full city, or to the dramatic Huasteca national park, to see more or less where the Santa Catarina river is coming from...both 20 minutes by car.
best way to move around is in a taxi, but there are a few bus lines that you can take a few blocks from home, more info here: (website hidden)_mapa_rutas_interactivo
Taxi from the studio to:
downtown 10 mins
airport 30 mins
bus station 20 mins
(more or less depending on traffic)

This loft is perfect for low-maitnence travelers who want to experience the city! Honestly the pictures under-advertise the amount of space in the apartment. Though certainly spartan, it contains everything an adventures traveler needs for a home base in Monterrey! Note that this is not a shared apartment, and you have access to your own fridge, microwave, bathroom, and deck (which has a gorgeous view of the city and moutains). Ruben has dogs (which you can hear barking when you arrive) but as a guest with heavy allergies there was no trace of there presence in the apartment.
You can easily hop a bus to downtown for about M$12/person, or catch a cheap cab anywhere in the city. Grocery stores are more difficult to find, but there is a delicious place for street food about ¼ mile away if you are willing to walk. The location is safe and provides easy access. A must for first-time travelers who want a cost-effective way to tour Monterrey!
Ruben is a great host and a very nice guy. He is responsive and deals with any issues that come up.
The apartment is in a safe neighborhood. The apartment is spartan but clean and safe. There is a microwave and refrigerator, air conditioner and heater. There is a balcony with a beautiful view of the city. Convenience stores are just a block or two away and there is a nice little chicken taco place called Taqueria Iberia 2 blocks away, and a superb full service restaurant: La Catarina, also just a short walk away.
I always felt safe and secure and definitely recommend Ruben's place as an option in Monterrey. Thanks, Ruben!
Great place, conveniently located and with a nice view of El Obispado and El Cerro de la Silla (the balcony is not small at all). The bed is super comfy and the bedroom very spacious. Ruben as a host was very attentive. Even though we didn’t get to talk a lot, he walked us through the apartment and told us everything we needed to know for our stay.
Tres bon sejours hote toujours disponible :)
