About this listing
Very nice apartment at the groundfloor in the most popular area of Amsterdam, De Jordaan. The apartment is modern, clean, functional and comfortable. It has it's own entrance, own bathroom and kitchen, so you have complete privacy. The bathroom has a bath and shower. In the kitchen you will find a stove, fridge, microwave and all the equipment to make your own meals. There is a new cable plasma television, free internet and heating in wintertime.
The Jordaan is a lively, picturesque, authentic and friendly neighbourhood around the Amsterdam canals: small streets, tree-bordered canals and a variety of small restaurants, bars, terraces and all sorts of shops.
Around the corner at de Lindengracht there is a market every saturday, and at de Noordermarkt a so called Boerenmarkt for organic food etc, and monday a flea-market. On Monday too a so called Lappenmarkt (textile's) at the Westerstraat. The well-known Anne Frankhuis is at the corner. Central Train Station is a ten-minutes-walk away.
In the Marnixstraat at the corner, a 5 minutes-walk, you will find trams en busses which bring you to other parts of the city, to the famous Museums as the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the VanGoghMuseum.
At your arrival you will find all kind of information about the area and the city.
No smoking, very strictly. No animals. I charge no cleaning fee, no deposit, so I expect you to consider the apartment as your own, leaving it in the state you have found it. The bed is kingsize double, but can be changed in two single beds. All very comfortable. For the double there is no need for fearing a gap in the middle. No more than two guests are allowed.
Jan was a perfect host. The communication before our arrival was very easy and he took the time to send us all the informations we needed. On site, you will find everything you need to have a nice time (maps, travel books, guides, plus Jan's advices). We had a very pleasant time in his apartement which is located in one the best area of Amsterdam. We didn't take public transports as all the nice spots to visit are nearby. In short, I recommend warmly Jan's apartement!
Jan is a very great host. He sent us directions by mail, so that we found the apartment easily. The apartment lies in one of the geratest neighbourhoods of Amsterdam, the Jordaan, with lots of Cafés, restaurants like the Thijssen (we love it!) and vegetable and clothes markets.
Jan provided us with coffee, tea, oranges, a french-press coffee maker (yeiiiih!!!!), an orange-juicer, even brown sugar was there.
Whenever we needed something like extra towels, we got plenty.
Jan also provided us with maps and showed us how to get to the museum quarter.
The apartment is located so central, that you can walk to many of the interesting sights.
On the very last day of our stay we could leave our luggage in his flat.
We had an "accident" as soon as we had left: It was raining and while we were strolling through the market, some crazy guy poured all the water from the stall-roofs on us and we were soaking wet. We returned to the apartment - wet and freezing - and asked Jan for help. He was already busy with the new guests, so he let us use his private flat to change our clothes and dry our hair. This was very sweet of him and made it possible for us to enjoy our last afternoon in Amsterdam.
Later when we picked up our luggage he described the best way to get to our new destination which was very helpful again because we had forgotten to buy a Holland-map.
Thank you, Jan!
Jan's apartment was perfect and he is a great host. Prior to arriving he answered all of my questions promptly and sent me a detailed map showing how to get there from the train station. The location is very convenient. We decided to walk from Amsterdam Central station and it only took 15 minutes. The Jordaan is a great neighborhood with a lot of really good restaurants and beautiful canals. Upon arrival, Jan took the time to show us around the apartment and gave us restaurant suggestions. He left several maps and guidebooks for us to use during our stay. There were also fresh flowers, oranges on the counter and toiletries in the bathroom. These little details were really nice. The apartment itself is very clean, spacious and comfortable. It also gets a lot of natural light. The only negative is that is across the street from a bar. We were there over the weekend it was pretty noisy. This didn't bother us very much but it is something to consider if you are a very light sleeper. Overall, we loved it and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again! Thanks Jan!
Very pleasant stay in an inviting neighborhood! Jan was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful apartment in a really nice part of town! Good shower comfy bed! Only problems was a neighbour had a party upstairs from 9pm Friday night to 7am Saturday morning .... But that was not poor Jans fault and he did warn us and apologise on our arrival I don't think any of us thought they would party that long and loud! But I think it was a one off and other then that we had the time of our life!
