About this listing
Very nice apartment at the groundfloor in the most popular area of Amsterdam, De Jordaan. The apartment is modern, clean, functional and comfortable. It has it's own entrance, own bathroom and kitchen, so you have complete privacy. The bathroom has a bath and shower. In the kitchen you will find a stove, fridge, microwave and all the equipment to make your own meals. There is a new cable plasma television, free internet and heating in wintertime.
The Jordaan is a lively, picturesque, authentic and friendly neighbourhood around the Amsterdam canals: small streets, tree-bordered canals and a variety of small restaurants, bars, terraces and all sorts of shops.
Around the corner at de Lindengracht there is a market every saturday, and at de Noordermarkt a so called Boerenmarkt for organic food etc, and monday a flea-market. On Monday too a so called Lappenmarkt (textile's) at the Westerstraat. The well-known Anne Frankhuis is at the corner. Central Train Station is a ten-minutes-walk away.
In the Marnixstraat at the corner, a 5 minutes-walk, you will find trams en busses which bring you to other parts of the city, to the famous Museums as the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the VanGoghMuseum.
At your arrival you will find all kind of information about the area and the city.
No smoking, very strictly. No animals. I charge no cleaning fee, no deposit, so I expect you to consider the apartment as your own, leaving it in the state you have found it. The bed is kingsize double, but can be changed in two single beds. All very comfortable. For the double there is no need for fearing a gap in the middle. No more than two guests are allowed.
Everything that I have to say in my review is just an echo of all the other excellent reviews Jan has received here – which clearly shows what a consistently fantastic host he is.
Upon arrival, Jan showed us around the apartment, making sure that we knew how to work the shower and lights and how to locate extra bedding and toiletries if necessary. There were a number of guides and maps available, including a map of the local Jordaan area with his own personal recommendations for food, supermarkets, and places to visit.
The apartment was clean and bright, with large windows facing out onto a fairly quiet street that had easy access to the rest of the city either via trams or walking. At no point did we feel too far removed from the city centre – in fact, it was often a relief to have somewhere relatively quiet to come home to after a busy day surrounded by other tourists!
There was plenty of equipment for cooking our own meals when we wanted to stay in, including basic seasoning and fresh oranges for juice. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of extra shampoo, shower gel, toilet paper, towels, and a hairdryer. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and Jan contacted us prior to the visit to ask if we wanted a double or two single duvets.
Overall, the apartment was fantastic, and Jan’s excellent hosting really helped to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. Thank you!
Jan greeted us at the front door of the apartment on our arrival and spent time showing us around it, informing us of things we needed to know and then showing us the map he provided for us of the area and where we could go for food shopping and laundry etc.
The apartment itself was lovely and couldn't have been more ideal for us (21 year old couple). The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful as well as the centre being easy accessible via foot. Jan is also the perfect host, not only is he friendly but he provided us with everything we needed to know as well as some bits of food and the apartment is also filled with everything you could possibly need (toilet roll, wash, towels, kitchen equipment, storage etc). We couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay :)
Jan met me right on time and provided a good introduction to the apartment. The location could not be better. The Jordann is the only place to stay in Amsterdam. It is close enough to walk to anything and far enough from the madness of the center to be quiet in the evenings. The apartment is well stocked and comfortable.
Jan was a perfect host. The communication before our arrival was very easy and he took the time to send us all the informations we needed. On site, you will find everything you need to have a nice time (maps, travel books, guides, plus Jan's advices). We had a very pleasant time in his apartement which is located in one the best area of Amsterdam. We didn't take public transports as all the nice spots to visit are nearby. In short, I recommend warmly Jan's apartement!
