Andy and Ellen went above and beyond to make their cottage welcoming. In addition to extremely comfortable lodging, Andy and Ellen provided basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.), sunscreen, and even basic breakfast food and coffee. They also provided outstanding advice for restaurants and grocery stores in the neighborhood. Their hospitality was absolutely on par with, if not better, than a hotel.
The cottage is also in a great location, it was extremely easy to get downtown but out of the way enough that it was very quiet coming back at night.
My girlfriend and I met Andy & Ellen briefly during our stay at their cottage. They were very friendly, and left us coffee, milk, and various beverages in the fridge. We really appreciated that Ellen kept us up to date on the road work in front of their house so we didn't have to park at the end of the block. The cottage is about 10min driving from downtown which we found to be perfect. We really enjoyed Austin, and our stay at Central Cottage could not have been more enjoyable.
We found our stay at the cottage to be relaxing and private. The neighborhood is convenient to both 35 and 1, a short drive to the downtown/East Austin/South Austin destinations we were targeting. Rosedale is an interesting residential area with plenty of retail and services nearby. The cottage is nicely appointed with a relaxing vibe. Perfect for one or two people who want to stay close but not in the middle of the tourist scene in Austin.
I enjoyed staying in this darling cottage. My host were very accommodating. The cottage was a great central location and came stocked with everything I could need. I will certainly stay here again the next time I'm in Austin.
Ellen and Andy are gracious and experienced hosts. They have thought of everything that contributes to comfort and ease of the stay. They were incredibly welcoming and concerned that my trip went well. The cottage is completely separate from the house, so privacy is complete but the hosts were available and happy to help with enquiries. It's been a week since I left and I still miss the tranquility of my little Austin hideaway.
Andy & Ellen's cottage felt like a home away from home. The location was great, the bed was very comfortable and the place was super clean. They maintained contact all the way to arrival to make sure we got in with no problems. I know exactly where I am staying next time I go to Austin!
Easy-going couple, longtime residents of Austin, we love Austin music and theatre. Andy is into bicycles and sometimes rides his bike to work. Ellen helps run a small local theatre company. We both have day jobs as legal professionals.
