Private, detached cottage in Central Austin, ideal for couples looking for a quiet accommodation with easy access to all that Austin has to offer.
Clean, sunny and private cottage in peaceful, tree-lined Ridgelea neighborhood in central Austin. The cottage is a separate building behind our house, so you have lots of privacy. It shares a garden courtyard with our residence.
Fully-functioning residential space with three rooms: large living/sleeping area, full kitchen, and bath with shower.
Queen-size, super comfortable bed with pillow top mattress sleeps two. Fresh cotton bed and bath linens provided.
Kitchen has table for two next to a sunny window, gas stove, full-size fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender. We provide coffee, sugar, milk, almond milk and two bottles of water per stay. There are condiments, cooking oil and basic seasonings. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cutlery, glasses, coffee cups, pots/pans and utensils including cooking knives and a corkscrew.
Bathroom has plenty of counter space and a closet. Iron and ironing board. Shower height is 6'6". We provide shampoo, conditioner and liquid body soap. We have two pool/beach towels.
WE HAVE TWO DOGS: Both are rescue dogs. Emmy is the bigger brown dog. She may bark; she is sweet but fearful. Luna is black/smaller and she loves people. The dogs can't get into the cottage yard or porches.
We have four bikes you may borrow (see pictures.) A hybrid, a mountain bike and a vintage single speed that fit average side riders, and a smaller mountain bike that fits adults of average height. Each bike has a lock, attached bag, and flat repair kit. We have three helmets available.
There is a small TV with Netflix, the basic local TV channels, and DVD player. We have a small selection of DVDs. There is a stereo with iPod dock and CD player, a propane and charcoal grill, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, picnic backpack.
There is ample parking on the street.
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting our guests, offering recommendations on places to eat and things to do, making new friends and being hosts, but we respect your privacy too.
Walking distance to the original Kerbey Lane Cafe and Russell's Bistro. Central Market is less than a mile away. Close to Shoal Creek Greenbelt and bike routes. Four to five miles from downtown music venues and about 2 miles to UT.
There are two city bus stops, one about 1/4 mile away and another 1/2 mile away that will take you downtown or to the airport. Taxi to downtown area is about $25. Some of our guests without cars get around by a combination of bike, bus and taxi.

We accept reservations only from guests who have verified their information with airbnb. We operate under City of Austin Short Term Rental License Number OL 2012 100895 in compliance with City of Austin ordinance and code. View photos to see operating permit.
No pets: sorry, no exceptions. No children under age 5. No exceptions. No loud parties.
Please park on the street and ask your visitors to do so as well. Do not park in our driveway. Please do not park in front of the yellow house - it blocks the neighbor's gate.
No smoking inside; you may smoke on the front or back porch. Please let us know if you need an ashtray.

We had a lovely stay in this little cottage! The hosts were friendly and welcoming but allowed us our privacy.
The cottage has a basic kitchen, which is well stocked in advance with basic bits.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the cottage for four days and had a lot of fun. It was a home away from home. The cottage was a perfect fit for two people and had everything we needed. Andy and Ellen were very welcoming and helpful with places to go and things to do. We will definitely be back!

I have never been a fan of hotels and decided to try Airbnb after a friend introduced me to the site. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in the cottage. Andy and Ellen are great hosts! Having basic amenities in the cottage was excellent. Their backyard cottage is centrally located in Austin allowing for a quick commute to the city. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. The perfect place to come home to after a day of hustle and bustle in the city.
Andy and Ellen's cottage in Austin was perfect for us, self-contained, spacious, 'bed-sitting room' , a good sized kitchen and bathroom too. The kitchen was well stocked, all we needed at hand, great coffee too. Our host had also 'stocked' the bookshelves with Austin and travel mementos, books, DVDs, all of which, I felt, reflected the kind of interesting Austin people they are. We liked the large windows (good curtains, shades) that overlooked the garden, a veggie garden in early stages too, and lovely songbird sounds in the morning. It felt very private, and being in a lovely residential neighborhood it was quiet too; walking the neighborhood is a must! Even biking too if you wish as bikes are available. Traveling to anywhere in Austin by car was easy too. We would highly recommended Andy & Ellen's cottage as a lovely AIRBNB place to stay.

Easy-going couple, longtime residents of Austin, we love Austin music and theatre. Andy is into bicycles and sometimes rides his bike to work. Ellen helps run a small local theatre company. We both have day jobs as legal professionals.
