Interaction with Guests
Guests will interact with Obelisk's staff. I act as a manager for the house so, although you will probably not see me (I don't live in Acapulco), you can contact me any time for any major inquiries.
The fare includes full staff (3-5 people) so that you don't have to worry about tidying up or cooking (unless you want to). The wonderful crew will make sure all your needs are met and that your vacation is amazing.
The house chef can cook any of the vast amount of recipes she knows, such as Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles (breakfast), Ceviche and Fish Tacos (Lunch), and Shrimp or Clam Spaghetti (Dinner), among dozens of other dishes. For food, all groceries can be bought (at your expense) by Israel (house manager) or by yourself, as you prefer.
The house is located at the highly guarded and luxurious Fraccionamiento Las Brisas, where many artists and businessmen have vacation homes. Las Brisas has a Club house at 3 min drive (10 min walk) from Casa Obelisk, where house-guests are allowed to use the Gym as well as the pool and other facilities (tennis and paddle tennis courts).
Although most of the time can be spent in the house, we can also recommend dozens of local restaurants, as well as other outings.
For transport it is best to do so in Taxi cabs. Mr. Daniel, can recommend this and other means of transportation. It is about $20 USD to get to La Isla Shopping center (on the "New Acapulco") and about $10 USD to get to La Costera (on the "Classic Acapulco"). It is about $5 USD to get to the scenic drive restaurants.
¡Bienvenidos a Casa Obelisk!
Other Things to Note
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the house/Acapulco safe?
Obelisk is located within Fraccionamiento Las Brisas, a highly guarded private residential area. In the 20+ years our family has owned Obelisk, we've never ever had any security issues, so it's safe to say you can sleep with no worries.
Acapulco is a city of contrasts, and general intuition guidelines apply. Just like everywhere in the world, avoid being in shady neighbourhoods, especially late at night. But no need to worry, the house staff can guide you where not to go. Granted, there's plenty more safe and enjoyable places than you can imagine.
How far from the beach?
We believe Obelisk offers THE BEST in Acapulco. It's exactly a mid-point between the old Acapulco Bay and the new Acapulco. It's a 10 min drive to the beach on either side (old or new). Furthermore, it has the panoramic view to classic Acapulco, the one you saw in Elvis movies.
How do I get in/out of the house?
No need to rent a car if you will not be moving much, taxi cabs can be called from the house. If you will be exploring a lot, then driving to Acapulco (4hr drive from Mexico City) or renting a car will be a good idea. Public transport is not recommended from/to Obelisk.
How many rooms/beds are there?
There are 6 guest rooms, and 1 staff room. The staff room can also accommodate children. In total, there are 14 beds. You can see the distribution below:
- Room 1 (1 King + 1 single) - 2 people (and up to 3)
- Room 2 (2 Full Size) - 2 people (and up to 4)
- Room 3 (2 Full Size) - 2 people (and up to 4)
- Room 4 (2 Full Size) - 2 people (and up to 4)
- Room 5 (2 Queen Size) - 2 people (and up to 4)
- Room 6 (2 Full Size) - 2 people (and up to 4)
This next room is small. It can accommodate children or is often used for staff that is coming with your group.
- Room 7 (2 Full Size) - 2 people (and up to 4)
3 Important Disclaimers:
- The pool has a heater. Gas to heat the pool is NOT included in the rent fee. If you wish to have the pool heated the gas must be purchased in Acapulco, this can be coordinated with Mr. Daniel at the house. It's about $100 USD for the pool to stay warm about 3 days.
- Although not new, Obelisk has been remodelled a couple of times. There are parts of the house which will be old, and others that will be modern.
- Please consider a little extra food for the staff; their meals are not included in the fare.
Please treat the staff respectfully. We consider them our friends; some of them have been with us for decades. Also, please do not smoke in the bedrooms.

About the Host, Enrique
I’m a technology entrepreneur, I live in Mexico City and visit Obelisk 2-3 times per year.
I act as a family manager for Casa Obelisk so, although you will probably not see me, you can contact me any time for any inquiry.
Guests will interact with Obelisk's staff. Mr. Daniel works and lives there and he can tell you a thousand stories about my family and visitors from all around the world. Lorena, who lives in Acapulco, is our local administrator. She will be alert to any request in the house so it can be fulfilled or fixed. She is in charge of repairs, staff, etc.
Obelisk was bought by my grandfather (RIP), a businessman from North-Mexico. He enjoyed Acapulco so much that he visited many times every year. Once, after a 15 hour bus ride to Acapulco in the late 80s, our family (nearly 50 of us) arrived at Acapulco for a family vacation. My father stumbled across the opportunity to buy Obelisk and got so excited that he did. He was an avid fisherman, as you will see from his taxidermy fishing trophies at the house (Marlin, Swordfish).
The house has been upgraded and repaired. After my grandfather passed away, my mother and her siblings inherited the house and now we all share it.
I’m personally in charge of making better use of it through AirBnB rentals, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Please Feel free to contact me if you have any doubts! I will gladly answer.
