Walk or use my loaner bike to get all over downtown and to many attractions like Old Town, the historic cemetery, the Capitol, the Crocker museum, Stanford mansion, and more. Everything you need, easily accessible!

The Space

Loaner bike. Nothing fancy, but available if you want to bike around town. Free parking at my house, bike while you visit.

You get a full (not queen) bed in the guest room, which is why it is most suited for one person (two is tight). The room includes a dvd/tv setup w/ movies provided, but no actual live tv. Wifi is included. There is only one, shared bathroom (again another reason why 1 guest preferred). You are welcome to use the kitchen/living room (live tv). Some guests have cooked meals in the kitchen and I'm ok with that.

I have 2 cats and the house is non-smoking, although you can outside. Don't mind 420. I have a private back yard for relaxing.

Would prefer no more than 4-6 nights and at least 2 days notice as I am a rather busy person. Please give a week's notice if possible. Male guests: MUST have at least 2 reviews and a photo.

Interaction with Guests

I can guide or take people around depending on time and circumstances. I tend to be very active, even on weeknights. I don't drink, so don't expect me to do the bar scene or wine tasting. I am definitely a foodie with a local food blog and over 100 restaurant reviews from $ to $$$$. I've had a few repeat guests here on business.

The Neighborhood

I live downtown within biking and walking distance to many attractions like Old Town, the historic cemetery, the Capitol, the Crocker museum, Stanford mansion, and more. There's a Target store a block away, as well as banks, restaurants, stores, and an independent movie theater. I'm just off the freeway, so easy to find. You can't ask for a better location. See my Guidebook.

Getting around

Parking on the street is safe. 1.5 miles from Amtrak. I've been popular with people going to conferences who just walk the 20-30 minute walk to the convention center.

Other Things to Note

Would prefer no more than 4-6 nights and NO last minute requests as I am a rather busy person. Please give a week's notice. Male guests: MUST have at least 2 reviews and a photo.

  • I had a wonderful stay at Catherine´s place! The place is well located and it´s easy to move in the city with Catherine´s bike. The house is nice and clean. During my stay, I was working the all week and coming back late without any problem in the surroundings.
It´s during the weekend that I spent time with Catherine which is a really great host. She took time to make me discover the way of life and the food in Sacramento. Catherine know lot of nice places to eat and have a drink!
I really recommend to stay a Catherine´s place for a pleasant, relaxing and human stay in Sacramento!

  • Catherine was a wonderful host. She was friendly and extremely pleasant. Her place was very comfortable and well located. Target and a few places to eat were a short walk away in a safe part of town. The room she availed had a good bed and desk, and the bathroom was readily accessible and clean. The bicycle she provided was fully functional and allowed for a nice ride through nearby downtown and along the Sacramento River. She affords an especially nice stay!

  • The house is in a good location central to Sacramento and near the 80. Catherine is a nice host and does a lot of food blogging so has a good knowledge of places to eat in town. The picture of the room is a little dated, different nightstands now. The bathroom wasn't quite as clean as I would have expected were I having guests. Good value, though.

  • Having had such a pleasant experience staying at Catherine's the first time, I did not hesitate to book a stay there a second time when I recently had to be in Sacramento again on business. Catherine is a very flexible and accommodating host. This time like the last, I made very good use of the spare bicycle that Catherine lets her guests use. Unlike the city I live in, Sacramento is a very bike-friendly city. Catherine's house is well within bicycle range of the downtown area that contains the State Capitol and numerous convention sites. Even if you have to take a cab there from Catherine's, the fare should be under $10. Catherine has two very well-behaved cats, but they are cats nonetheless, so if you happen to be allergic (like me), I suggest bringing a few anti-histamines with you, which should do the job just fine. If I should return to Sacramento in the future, which is likely, Catherine's place will no doubt once again be the first place I look into staying at.

  • I had a very nice stay at Catherine's house. Her home is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located near many restaurants and other attractions. It was also very close to a major freeway, but the neighborhood was extremely quiet. The room was spacious and had a nice bed and a big desk in it. During my stay, I had full use of the kitchen, which was well-appointed. The bathroom was also very tidy. Catherine was a gracious host and I would definitely would recommend her place to others staying in Sacramento.

  • Catherine is a kind and gracious host. I so appreciated her kind and easy going nature and her cooking a shared meal. I also loved the fact that I was able to pack up some of her grapefruit and lemons to take back to Michigan. Oh, and she was kind enough to school me and allow me to try some of her homemade Kombucha. I highly recommend Catherine's space for anyone looking for an amazing home away from home.

  • Catherine is a very kind and gracious host. Her home and the room in which I stayed was very clean and comfortable. She was kind enough to even make dinner, share her homemade soda, and even allowed me to pack up some grapefruit from her tree back to Detroit. Her location is ideal for those who need to access Sacramento or Northern California. I highly recommend Catherine's space to those looking for a clean and affordable home in which to rest your soul .

  • Great stay. Catherine is a fantastic host and very accommodating. The location is very close to downtown and really convenient to get to. I had rented a car and the street parking was absolutely perfect (not usually the case so close to downtown areas). Thanks Catherine! Much appreciated!

About
I've traveled my whole life thanks to dad working in Saudi Arabia. Too many countries to list. I'm British/Filipina mix but call Sacramento home since 1987. I am very active and know my city really well. I'm always happy to help people with suggestions of places to go and eat. I have a food blog on the side because I love good food.
