About this listing
Walk or use my loaner bike(s) to get all over downtown and to many attractions like Old Town, the historic cemetery, the Capitol, the Crocker museum, Stanford mansion, and more. Everything you need, easily accessible!
Loaner bike(s). Nothing fancy, but available if you want to bike around town. Free parking at my house, bike while you visit.
You get a full (not queen) bed in the guest room, which is why it is most suited for one person (two is tight). Also a table and chair if you need a "desk". The room includes a dvd/tv, a fan, and blockout shades for darkness. Wi-fi is included. Due to the small nature of my house and lack of storage space, the room does hold my own belongings in the closet. There is only one, shared bathroom (again another reason why 1 guest preferred). You are welcome to use the kitchen/frig/living room. Some guests have cooked meals in the kitchen and I'm ok with that.
I have 2 cats and so should not be allergic to cats as they are friendly with strangers. The house is non-smoking, although you can outside. Don't mind 420. I have a private back yard for relaxing.
Would prefer no more than 4-6 nights and at least 2 days notice as I am a rather busy person. Please give a week's notice if possible. Male guests: MUST have at least 2 reviews and a photo.
All areas available to you but my bedroom.
Interaction with Guests
I can guide or take people around depending on time and circumstances. I tend to be very active, even on weeknights. I don't drink, so don't expect me to do the bar scene or wine tasting. I am definitely a foodie with a local food blog and over 100 restaurant reviews from $ to $$$$. I'm very involved with Sacramento's restaurant and food truck scene. I've had a few repeat guests here on business.
I live downtown within biking and walking distance to many attractions like Old Town, the historic cemetery, the Capitol, the Crocker museum, Stanford mansion, and more. There's a Target store a block away, as well as banks, restaurants, stores, and an independent movie theater. I'm just off the freeway, so easy to find. You can't ask for a better location. See my Guidebook.
Use one of my loaner bikes to get around. Parking on the street is free and safe. 1.5 miles from Amtrak. I've been popular with people going to conferences who just walk the 20-30 minute walk to the convention center.

Other Things to Note

Again, you should not have a problem/allergy with cats. As to my anti-cat reviewer, she knew there were cats in the house. It's obvious. I keep a sheet on top of the bed to keep the bedding free of cat fur. There's a door that can be closed. I don't like dogs so I'm less inclined to book a location with dogs. I would expect the same. I think you can see from all my other reviews that this is a non-issue.
No smoking inside.
I'm pretty easy going. Just realize that I'm also very busy.
Catherine's house was perfect for me. The location was great! It was a short walk to a lot of awesome attractions, restaurants, and stores. Her cats are adorable and very friendly. Catherine is a good source for things to do in the area, as well. I definitely recommend staying here.
The listing was accurate. The neighborhood was better than I had expected. Downtown Sacramento and Land park are a short bike ride away. Many restaurants nearby. Catherine was professional and friendly.
Catherine is a great host and I would recommend her house for a peaceful stay. Before I booked my reservation, I told Catherine that my flight would be coming in the evening and she was totally OK with that. But, when I arrived, I waited for my rental car and it was getting very late. She was very concerned and texted me to make sure I was OK. When I finally got to her house, I was welcomed right in and she showed around and I had the pleasure of meeting her sweet cats. Even though I was hardly there, I was comfortable and I liked that it was quiet. Before I checked out, Catherine came by to chat and gave me a warm goodbye. All in all...I enjoyed her place.
I had a pleasant stay at Catherine's place. The house was very nice, with lots of natural light. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. Catherine had very good local knowledge and was willing to answer questions and provide tips on how to get around. Her cats, Star and Snuggles, are friendly and have a lot of character! I was able to use the laundry and kitchen facilities. There's a supermarket just a few minutes' walk away, and the city center is also within walking distance. I would certainly recommend this as a place to stay.
We had a very good accomodation at Catherine's house, situeted only at 20 minute- walk from the center. Parking is available in front of the house. Catherine was hospitable and attentive. We met as well her intelligant cats.
Catherine was an incredibly generous host. The room was very comfortable, the WiFi was very fast, and being able to use her bike was extraordinarily helpful. I was in Sacramento doing archival research and the location was very close to my site. There is a Target nearby for groceries, snacks, or Starbucks. Catherine also offered great dining suggestions and has a very helpful food blog as well. The review wouldn't feel complete if I didn't mention that her cats were totally adorable! If you are staying anywhere near Downtown, this is a great place to stay.
About the Host, Catherine
I've traveled my whole life thanks to dad working in Saudi Arabia. Too many countries to list. I'm British/Filipina mix but call Sacramento home since 1987. I am very active and know my city really well. I'm always happy to help people with suggestions of places to go and eat. I have a food blog on the side because I love good food.
