We've enjoyed sharing our space and many wonderful meals with people from Germany, England, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Argentina, Cuba, Iran, New Zealand, Australia and the U.S. Our quiet, historic Vancouver neighborhood is a peaceful escape from the bustle but close enough for easy access. Downtown Vancouver offers plenty to do weekends and some week nights. Our house is comfortable, 4 blocks from Main Street and Starbucks, 2 blocks from Interstate 5, and 1 mile north of the Columbia River, which separates Washington from Oregon. We're 1.5 miles from Officers Row and Fort Vancouver, established in 1825 and from which the Pacific Northwest was settled.
Your bedroom is in the basement/bottom floor, which is the newest, remodeled part of the house. Complete privacy with bedroom and shared bath on a separate floor from owners. Summers, relax on the covered front porch hammock and stare down a long dirt alley from the 50s. Or enjoy the backyard vegetable garden and patio.
Friendly, helpful hosts. If you want to socialize, we're available; if you desire complete privacy, you can have it. Depending on the time of year, we may be absent or just popping in briefly; we may be around full-time. If you have a pre-planned trip or are coming to Vancouver for work, this is a great place for you to stay. Weekdays, hosts work from home office and are ready to answer questions and point you in the right direction to all the beauty the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
We welcome people from everywhere and speak English, French, Spanish and some Mandarin. Sorry, no pets nor smokers. We do not have a completely child-proofed house, so we can only accommodate infant, non-ambulatory children or well-behaved kids over 5. Maximum 1-month stay.

I never met Kristin but Vance was very nice and friendly. He was a very responsive host to any issues that arose and he genuinely wants to know how to make your stay a positive experience. The bedroom was very comfortable. The internet connection was a little weak at times in the basement room but working in the living room wasn't difficult because, even though there were several other roommates, the house is very quiet.
The neighborhood is walk-able with Walgreen's, several coffee shops, grocery and a bus stop within 10 minute walk from the house.
I spent more than a month Bnb-ing a room in Kristin and Vance’s home. Kristin and Vance are the epitome of why AirBnb has become so popular…They are gracious hosts, considerate of your needs. They are knowledgeable and eager to share resources that will make your stay easier—i.e. questions like, “where’s a good coffee shop, breakfast place, grocery store”—so that you can focus on the true purpose of your visit. They are also respectful of privacy. I found their home to be charming, tactfully decorated, and comfortable. Thank you Kristin and Vance for putting up with me for so long! Cheers!
Kristen and Vance are delightful people who welcomed us and made us feel at home in their home. We stayed for three nights and it was all wonderful. I recommend staying there for a number of reasons: to spend time with good folks who want to help you make the most of your time in the area; to welcome the host and hostess into your circle of friends; and to be sure that you don't miss the lovely town of Vancouver.
We booked this room on short notice, but Kristin and Vance were incredible accommodating. We absolutely enjoyed our quiet room in the basement. My wife and My sister and I all comfortably stayed here for 3 nights/4 days. Vance and Kristin are great, down-to-earth people who are more than willing to help out with suggestions or re-stocking the house with fresh fruit! If you're looking to stay here, it's a minute off of the I-5, which makes zipping into Portland easy. We also spent a day going to Mount St. Helens northeast of here and loved it. So much to do and nearby their lovely home. A word of warning to the tall -- the basement is a little lower than what you might be used to. Myself - standing at 6'4", I had to duck under the beams and it took some getting used to. Great value and great experience here.
My 7 year old and I stayed for about 4 nights in the bamboo room. It worked out great for us. There is a little sleeping loft sort of space that he of course had to sleep in. The room was lovely and very comfortable, though at 6 ft. tall I had to be a little careful as the room is in a finished basement and the ceilings are low. It wasn't a problem, but tall guests should be aware going in. The bathroom was clean and new looking too. Kristin was kind enough to let me have the small fridge in our room. And the front porch was nice for relaxing. My son loved the hammock. The neighborhood is really lovely with lots of green and beautifully landscaped yards. Kristin was out of town by the time I got there, but Vance was there (as were their two great children) and he was very friendly and hospitable.
Kristin and Vance have a clean, colorful and inviting home they generously share. In fact, our busy schedules meant we never saw each other, but that was a shame cuz I hope to visit with them next time I stay there. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs along with a bathroom with a reflexology stone floor (nice!) and hot shower. The rooms have windows and my bed was more comfortable than my own at home, complete w cozy down blanket. I felt at home and at ease there.
I enjoyed staying with Kristin and Vance. They are warm and welcoming and have a lovely home.
