At Stavehøl you will live in 1/2 of a 150 year old Bornholm farmhouse in 2 hectares of meadows and woods. Enjoy a secret hideaway near the beach, Gudhjem and Østerlars church.

The space
If you are looking for an authentic Bornholm farmhouse experience in plenty of beautiful green space, then this is the place for you.

We are offering this rustic studio that comfortably sleeps two people, but could also accommodate a family with one small child. There is a large open kitchen (fully equipped) and living space with a cosy sofa and comfortable double bed. It has a lovely wood stove that really warms up the space quickly. Firewood and kindling from our own woods is included in the price.

There is a brand new heated bathroom with a shower, and an additional small bathroom which also contains a washing machine.

The studio also has free high speed WiFi internet access.

Guest access
You have separate access to your flat and to 2 hectares (5 acres) of grounds, including lawn, meadow and woodland, including our own river. You will be sharing the extensive grounds with ourselves and a neighbouring flat, but you have your own seating area and fire ring. There are many spaces to enjoy, to hang out, have campfires and barbeques. We frequently see hares, deer, hedgehogs and abundant birdlife in the garden. Swallows feed around the house and nightingale are heard singing most nights from the end of May until midsummer. The night sky is stunning and you are welcome to borrow one of our telescopes.

Other things to note
The last kilometre to Stavehøl is along a gravel private road with a speed limit of 15 km/h that is accessible to all vehicles but may not be suitable for motorcycles or vehicles with 'low ground clearance' - if arriving in such a vehicle you will need to park about 400 metres away in a small parking area.

Gudhjem, Denmark

We are located in arguably one of the most beautiful corners of Bornholm, just 100 metres from the Stavehøl waterfall in the rocky Kobbeå valley. The garden is bordered by the safe and sheltered cycle way connecting the iconic round church at Østerlars (1 km from the house) with Melsted's sandy beach and the picturesque fishing village of Gudhjem (both around 15 minutes by bike).

We are a German/English couple who moved to the beautiful island of Bornholm some 5 years ago. We are parents to 9 year-old twins Sammy and Jonas. Having spent life before children travelling the world to do long distance hiking and to lounge in hot springs, we now enjoy the ramble to our own river and the cycle ride to school. Phil is a keen naturalist, geneaologist and amateur historian, whilst Katrin enjoys getting creative, dabbling in painting and jewellery making.
