The Space

Visiting Antigua Guatemala? We are offering a fantastic, affordable 140sqm (about 1500sq ft) apartment located minutes from Antigua, in a beautiful gated complex called Cortijo de las Flores. This is a vacation apartment, and is catered to satisfy a traveler's needs, while offering a relaxing environment in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. This studio apartment is ideal for 4-6 people, but will comfortably host up to 8 people.

Cortijo de las Flores is a luxurious housing complex located about 5 minutes from Antigua, right next to Ciudad Vieja (one of Antigua's neighboring towns).
The studio apartment is owned and maintained by my family, and we take pride in trying to offer our visitors the best experience possible. The studio apartment offers:

- 2 bedrooms:
* 1 bedroom in the lower level, with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom.
* 1 bedroom in the upper level, with two queen-size beds.
- 2 full bathrooms, one in the lower level and one in the upper level
- 1 small kitchenette on the lower level, stocked with utensils and appliances.
- Dining area on the lower level, with a table that sits four
- Living area on the lower level, with a sofa bed, big enough for two more people.
- A lounge area on the upper level, with a seating area, a fireplace and a balcony, fully stocked with gorgeous view of the volcanoes surrounding Antigua.
- Small terrace with gas grill and seating area.
- 1 small garden at the entrance, with a seating area.

The apartment is located within a gated complex, with sufficient parking for up to three cars. It also has lots of green areas and gardens, if you fancy an early stroll.

The studio has a desktop computer set up, with a wireless router, if you need wifi for other devices. There are also two TVs, one on each room, with basic cable service.

Feel free to send me a message if you want any more info on this place. We do offer as well the two levels separately, if you wish to take advantage of the location but don't need that much space.

Guest Access

You have access to the entire place!

Interaction with Guests

I usually meet personally with guests to hand them over keys and like to email suggestions about things to do, etc. In rare ocassions, a family member may meet up with you. I'm also always a phone/text/email away, and I do check in via email or text every couple of days, just to make sure your experience is going as smooth as possible.

The Neighborhood

Inside the complex, you have access to loads of green areas and quiet cobblestone streets to walk around, it's peaceful and relaxing. Outside the complex, Ciudad Vieja is just steps away. Go and discover the second capital city of Guatemala.

Getting around

The studio is 4.8km from Antigua's Central Park, a 5-minute bus/taxi/tuk tuk ride, or a 25-minute bike trip from Antigua Guatemala. It is also walking distance to Ciudad Vieja, another colonial gem, as well as walking distance to a laundromat, gym, convenience store, and a small shopping plaza.

Other Things to Note

The house has a Jacuzzi on the lower level garden, but we tend to keep it cover (as we hardly ever use it). However, you are free to use it if you wish to, just let me know previously so I can email the instructions! :)

  • We loved our stay at Maria's house. It was a lovely get away from the hustle and bustle of Antigua but just a 5 minute ride in Tuk-Tuk or cab. Great, responsive and kind hosts, that will really make you feel at home. This is a wonderful place to rest, paint, work and recharge your batteries to continue exploring all that Guatemala has to offer. Kitchen is small as other reviewers pointed out, but for breakfast and quick snacks is perfect. A hotel nearby can help with phone calls, breakfast or light lunch or booking a tour or a taxi. The place is very well distributed with very tasteful decoration and super clean. Some noise from the road can be heard as well as on the weekends from neighborhood celebrations ( maybe it was just our luck that a quinceañera was Boeing celebrated that day), but it is probably equally noisy if not more in Antigua. All in all I highly recommend this place. Don't hesitate, you will live it!

  • Our introduction to Guatemala was very warm when we were greeted by Maria upon our arrival to her place in Antigua. Maria and her dad were a wealth of information and answered any questions we had. The place is just as advertised with splendid views of the volcanos in a beautiful setting. The place is very comfortable with everything you might need for your stay. It was nice to be staying in a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of Antigua and it was very easy to get in and out of the city. We highly recommend Maria s place for your next visit to Antigua.

  • My family and I recently had the pleasure to stay in Antigua at Maria's absolutely stunning home!!! Staying in this house just on the outskirts of Antigua was definitely one of the main highlights of our trip!

As first time visitors to Guatemala, my family and I had many questions about Antigua and the surrounding areas that we planned to visit. Prior to our visit, Maria answered all of our questions about visiting Guatemala, suggested activities for us to do, suggested travel companies, restaurants, sites to see and so on. She even picked us up from the airport and drove us to the condo upon our arrival to Guatemala! I could not have asked for a more exceptional and friendly host!

The house was beyond beautiful - offering amazing views of the nearby volcans, beautifully decorated, two spacious master sweets, a garden patio, and a second floor sunroom. The pictures of this house simply do not do it justice!

The grounds where the house is situated are also very beautiful; the grounds are impeccably landscaped and maintained. The property is lush with many flowers and trees. The community is also very secure, with 2 hour guards on site who are very friendly and accommodating.

Although this house is a few miles outside of Antigua, this posed no problem for us to get around; we simply took Tuktuks or cabs (very cheap and very quick way to get around). There is also a small village next to the condo's community that you can get groceries at, go to a small restaurant, or explore for a day.

Antigua itself is very beautiful and has a ton to see and do. You could easily spend a few weeks just exploring the city and the surrounding area. If visiting Antigua for your first time, I suggest going to the cooking school frijol feliz, visiting the many historical sites and museums the city offers, as well as shopping at the local market (in the morning is the best time to go).

Antigua was a great place to visit and having Maria as a host and staying in her house made our trip to this city even better. I would recommend staying with Maria to absolutely anyone traveling to Antigua!

  • We could not have been more pleased with this home. We were 5 plus a baby for Christmas and it was perfect. We were all able to enjoy the space and especially enjoyed the volcano and firework views on the balcony. The house was very clean and Maria was a gracious host, quick to reply. We were a bit concerned that this wasn't in the center but actually preferred it. The house is only a few minutes drive and in a very peaceful, safe community. We will definitely rent this space again. The only thing to be aware of is the kitchen is quite small. We were able to cook just fine but it is something to consider. However Antigua has so much great food, it is better to eat out! We can't wait to return!

  • Absolutely beautiful place in a very quiet neighborhood just outside Antigua. The complex in which its located is quite nice itself (butterfly garden!!), and you can walk to a little hotel inside for breakfast. Communication with Maria was very smooth and everything was clean and comfortable. Service (towels, soaps, shampoos) was top notch!
Too bad the wifi did not work for us but I'm sure it has been fixed already!

  • Maria was a wonderful host. The house was exactly as described, beautifully kept up inside, and had fantastic views. I loved being able to enjoy a nice breakfast on the upper patio and look at the view before heading into Antigua. Maria was very helpful, prior to our trip, when we arrived, and while we were there. I would recommend the house highly to anyone.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was a very good one. Maria was a fantastic host and so very helpful with all aspects of our trip. We couldn't have asked for a better experience on our first trip to Guatemala. Her home was just as the pictures portrayed and we thoroughly enjoyed it. She assisted us with transportation, money exchanges, phones, information and shopping; whatever we needed. Maria was very prompt at responding to any questions we had and always had answers for us. Guatemala is a very interesting country to visit and Maria just helped to make it better. I would absolutely recommend her place to anyone and would definitely stay there again on my next visit to Guatemala. Thanks Maria, for everything; it was very nice meeting you.

About
28yr-old with plenty of wanderlust. Web junkie, social media enthusiast, concert-goer, traveler. Born in Guatemala and currently living in Guatemala City. I love meeting travelers from all places (as I am pretty often a traveler myself). Currently offering only space in our Antigua property, but do ask if you want to go to the city, we might be able to see if there is a spot nearby. About me being a AirBnB user... Not picky when it comes to a place to stay. I just need a decent WC and we're good to go. I need wifi to survive, so that is also a must.
