Eugenia was terrific at getting the rental of this apartment to happen.Once we arrived in B.A.,she greeted us at the apt. and answered all my questions and offered tips about shopping in the area, etc. The apart. is very bright and airy, in a relatively quiet ,mostly residential nieghborhood. The metro (line D )is only a block away. There's a supermarket, money exchange, lots of laundromats, restaurants, etc. in the inmediate vicinity. The best fresh pasta store in B.A. is on the same block as the apt.Start boiling the water.
We had a great time staying at Eugenia's place. She was very prompt responding to all our queries and extremely pleasant to deal with. She also had some great restaurant recommendations which made it nice a easy to settle into the neighborhood. The apartment was as described and everything worked well.
Eugenia is a fantastic host- very friendly and willing to help in anyway possible! The apartment is lovely, you could not ask for a better location, close to everything, safe, and very near to transportation. This apartment has a beautiful view and is wonderfully decorated and very comfortable. Furthermore, the second day Eugenia had new couch cushions put in to the apartment- very comfortable =) I would highly recommend renting from Eugenia if you get the chance, she is very accommodating and a great person-Thanks Eugenia =D!
There were many good things about our 8 day stay in this apartment from 18-25 April 2011.
First, Eugenia is a really lovely person whose smile is just as big and warm in person as in her photograph. Her spoken and written English is also very good. And she was prompt in all her dealings with us. We sent her a few emails when we were deciding on the apartment and she got back to us quickly each time. And she was on time both for the check-in and check-out.
Second, the apartment is in a really good area that really grew on us during the week. It's probably technically Barrio Norte not Recoleta, which for us actually was a good thing. The heart of Recoleta is a bit too chi-chi (think Double Bay in Sydney) for us. Barrio Norte feels more authentic with lots of hole-in-the-wall cafes and shops filled with locals. Plus it's a short 3-5 minute stroll to the train station and only a 20-25 peso taxi ride to Palermo Soho.
Third, the apartment is fairly quiet with an old style but reliable elevator, and a door man (not flash, just a guy who sits at a card table, which seems to be a common feature of modest apartment blocks in the area).
The two main down sides are:
First, the couch is plastic and rock hard. You can only walk around so long before you need to collapse on the couch to recharge. This couch makes you want to get back on those tired feet. The mattress is also similarly uncomfortable.
Second, there was a recurring and sometimes overpowering stench of sewage that would periodically surprise us in the bathroom when we showered or ran the tap. We never thought to phone Eugenia about it because there's a similar stench in the Pueyerredon train station near by, so we figured it was something common to the whole area, not specific to the apartment. But when we were checking out Eugenia had a plumber over, suggesting it was something that's on her radar. I'd recommend checking with her whether the problem has been resolved.
Overall, we found the apartment good value for money and even stayed an extra day. But being as you get what you pay form, don't expect luxury.
Wonderful location, beautifully decorated and comfortable flat. Eugenia is lovely. Thank you!
I spent three weeks in Buenos Aires in Februrary 2011 learning to tango and eating a lot of delicious steaks. The apartment was everything I needed, and is in a great neighborhood with hundreds of cafes, restaurants, bookstores, and shops. La Cocina on the corner has great empanadas and the nearby opera-house-turned-bookstore/cafe is beautiful. You can even call the snack shop across the street and they'll deliver coffee or anything else to the apartment.
It's not a big neighborhood for bars and clubs and milongas, but it's only one block from the Subte (subway) station and taxis come by every 30 seconds. Taxis to Palermo, San Telmo, or anywhere are only 20 pesos (US$5) and 15 minutes, which is what we did every night.
The apartment is a modern-looking one-bedroom, just as described. A friend stayed with me for a week, and the "office" made a serviceable temporary second bedroom; the lack of air conditioning in that room wasn't a problem but the lack of window blinds made it hard to sleep in after staying out till 5am. The doorman was very friendly but seldom around.
Eugenia was very helpful, suggesting nearby restaurants, arranging a local cell phone for me and a ride from the airport, and meeting me exactly when she said she would to check out and return the security deposit. I'd definitely rent from her again.
Very nice experience, best rent experience thanks to Eugenia and Mariano Aguerreberry!!
This is the second apartment that we rented from Eugenia. She was incredibly helpful and flexible in arranging the rental at the last minute. The apartment itself was just as lovely as the photos: clean, spacious and perfectly located (easy access to main shopping street, public transit, and restaurants). Eugenia was always quick to respond by phone or email to make sure everything was ok, give recommendations, etc. Her mom even pitched in to make sure we could check in and check out at convenient times.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
