The Space

This lovely craftsman home has a washer/dryer, raised deck with french doors, a gas fireplace and gas range stove and oven, a dishwasher, wood floors, marble countertops, outdoor fire pit, Charcoal grill and plenty of charm!

Centrally located, this lovely craftsman home has all the quaint touches of an old house, but all the amenities of a modern home! Including, but not limited to: a washer/dryer, raised deck with french doors, a gas fireplace and gas range stove and oven, a dishwasher, wood floors, marble counter tops, 2 bathrooms, an outdoor firepit, charcoal grill, and plenty of charm! Also, I have a Kangen water ionizer if that sort of thing appeals to you :)

A few things to note:

-I live next door to a really cute coffee shop, so you may be haunted by delicious smells in the morning : )
-Parking is never a problem in this neighborhood!

-If you need absolute quiet when you sleep, this may not be the place for you, as my house is on a fairly busy street that tends to start up around 7:30am and wind down around 11pm on weekdays especially.

-This house is ideal for 4 people (2 in each queen bed), but can accommodate up to 6, as I have a comfortable couch in the living room and a cot that can be set up anywhere. Please make sure everyone in your party is ok with sleeping arrangements before booking for parties of 5 or more, and make sure you include the exact number, so I can make sure to have bedding for everyone!

If all of the above sounds good to you, go ahead and book!

Thanks :)

Within 6 blocks there are tons of restaurants, bars, a movie theater, 6 bus lines (3 of which are right across the street!) heading all over the city, not to mention one of my favorite parks, Gasworks! It's located within a mile of the University of Washington and only 8 blocks from the Burke Gilman Trail, which is great for running or biking all throughout the city. Fremont is a 15 min walk away to check out some local art or hit up the best Sunday market citywide! And the best part? Parking is never a problem in this neighborhood!

There are 3 routes that run just in front of the house going Downtown and to the Seattle Center, as well as Fremont, University District and Greenlake.

  • Had a great stay in Sophia's house. My friends and I rented the whole place. Having the little coffee shop next door was fabulous and we spent many hours out on the deck. Everything was exactly as her photos indicated. Would stay there again.

  • Sophia's place is such a great find in an already beautiful city.

I would definitely recommend this spot if you want to be near bustling and fun neighborhoods (Fremont, or an easy bus to Downtown and Capitol Hill), but not right in the middle of the traffic and noisy mess. It's also not as far away, on the other hand, as it might seem if you're unfamiliar to looking at Seattle on a map. Direct bus downtown - which picks up right in front of the house! - is just 20 min or so. You can also do a LOT of walking; Wallingford and Fremont are such scenic neighborhoods with beautiful gardens. Also, it's really pretty great to just roll out of bed and get coffee and homemade breakfast next door at Irwin's Cafe ;) PCC grocery is really close... as is Theo Chocolate (just sayin!)

Sophia's house is cozy and very well kept - it's really just like staying with an old friend. Her personal paintings along with distinctly Northwest decorating taste make it inviting and relaxing to come home to. Well stocked kitchen, if you like to cook, and nice patio view. I stayed a full week during a trade show in Seattle and it was so perfect. Everyone else did the general room rate at the packed hotels downtown, and I'm SO glad I wasn't one of them!

I would just add one note if you're sensitive to noise while you sleep (like I am) - the street the house is on can be busy until late evening, and the windows (at least in the bedrooms) are single-pane. A pair of earplugs - like any good traveler should carry - will be just fine and you'll sleep soundly. The beds are very comfy!

This is a seriously great place and I would love to come back on my next Seattle trip.

  • Overall we enjoyed our stay at Sophia's. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to meet her, but checking in was very easy and she made herself available should we have any questions. Since there are two beds in the listing, I feel that it sleeps two couples (4 people) comfortably. I loved the location and the back deck. Thank you Sophia.

  • I booked Sophia Marie's beautiful house for two nights to house family for my wedding weekend. The basement mother-in-law apartment was perfect (and apropos) for my future father-in-law to use and come and go at his convenience while my family stayed and got me ready in the main part of the house. Coordinating with Sophia was smooth and stress-free - she texted during the weekend to make sure everything was okay and made check-in/check-out a breeze.

The coffee shop (Irwin's) was really nice for the coffee drinkers in my family and super convenient as it is literally next door to the house.

Overall, the experience was wonderful - the house was cute and quaint and helped me feel relaxed and ready for my big day!

  • Sophia's house was a perfect get away in Seattle! The house worked great for five girls total. When we first got to the house Sophia greeted us and showed us around her lovely place, she even wrote down great bars and restaurants to check out in the area. The house was very clean, the two queen beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was great to cook in, and the outside porch was fantastic. Directly next door to the house is a charming coffee shop, my friends and I would go there every morning and enjoy our coffee on our porch. The house is a 15 minute ride to downtown Seattle (by bus) and a 20 minute walk to University District. Gasworks (my favorite park) is only a 15 minute walk and the park has a great view of downtown Seattle. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone that is going to visit Seattle! My friends and I loved it so much that we didn't want to leave. After coming home from long nights out it was perfect place to call home. I would love to come back! Thanks Sophia!
