It was a welcoming clean very pleasant house, accurately described in an interesting historical part of Kyoto
It was one of my Airbnb experience ever. The house is amazing, it is very clean and beautiful. The location is super, it is walking distance to lots of famous spots and it is also near to supermarkets. It is also very children friendly. I highly recommend this place to everyone who would like to experience the traditional Kyoto. Thanks a lot!
Located in a great location there are restaurants and cafes within walking distance and Gion itself is only a 10 minute walk away. We walk to Gion, Kiyomizu, and Takashimaya .
Everything is perfect. It's my best airbnb experience. I think I will come back.
We checked in there several days ago, and lived for 3 nights. It was a nice place, all the rooms were very clean and tidy. We also found anything we needed in the house. Self check-in was very convenient for us since we arrived there very late in the first day. The house was a mixture of tradition and morden, the facilities there were advanced, but it merged perfectly with the atmosphere of traditional Japanese style. The location of this house made it convenient to the many famous spots of Kyoto, and it was also not far from the Kyoto train station if taking a bus. We highly enjoyed the time living in Gion Machiya. Recommend it for everyone, and hope we would be come back in the next time. Thank you, Youkiko & Rob, and the local manager Hiromi!
This was a fabulous place to stay. We've been to Kyoto a number of times before and I had always wanted to be in this old residential area, where so much is in easy walking distance.
The house is beautifully designed and arranged with care for the guests. Welcoming and well organised, clear instructions for everything, milk and orange juice in the fridge, tea and coffee in the cupboard, and good contact with the owner.
We couldn't have asked for more.
We've been to this Machiya 3 times, now. We love the area. Management is great. The townhouse is fine by Japanese standards (small). I need English language news channels, which they dropped from the TV list, but for most anyone else that's a small thing. Easy to recommend. Enjoy.
