Biggest Bed in Sydney! With parking

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Regent St, Redfern, NSW, Australia

Welcome to The United Nations of Redfern!

In the past year, I have hosted people from Sri Lanka, Iran, Finland, Canada, Singapore, The US, Malaysia, The Netherlands, India, Norway, New Zealand, The United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Germany, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Hong Kong and mainland China, France, Switzerland, Japan, South Africa, Austria, Thailand and Argentina! And from Victoria to Queensland, from cities like Perth to towns like Dubbo.

This is the apartment I bought especially for Airbnb. I lived in it for the first two months as I had the new floors laid and the double gazing installed. It is a very stylish, comfortable and well-equipped apartment.

From the first pictures of the bedroom, it's hard to gauge just how big that bed is, so I have left the fourth picture (taken by the previous owners) in to try and give some scale. Trust me, it really is the biggest bed I have ever seen. It's 230cm x 205cm or 90.5" x 81". Huge and comfortable.

I have also included a floorplan so you can see the dimensions of the rooms and balconies. If you are like me, you will love schematics, maps, floor plans!

The normal check in is 10am and checkout is 8am. This is to allow for cleaning before new guests arrive - but please note that If it is just me here the night before, you can check in as earlier. Handy for early morning arrivals. Same for departure time. I'll be as flexible as I can. I have had guests leave bags here as late at 6pm on the day they check out, rather than lug them around town before heading to the airport for an evening flight. Similary, ss many flight get into Sydney at 7am, people clearing customs and getting into town at 8 are welcome to drop their bags while the cleaner makesit ready for you, and then grab a local breakfast. Please just ask!

Ministers, atheists, IT professionals, artists, social workers, jewellers, accountants, people on their 10th wedding anniversary, 25th wedding anniversary, gay couples, single parents, toddlers, teenagers, film makers, family reunions, old-friend reunions, nurses, business owners, builders, retirees taking a whole year off to enjoy each other's company as they travel the world. It's been quite a collection of folks!

Not a bad word from any of them, not a bad word about any of them. The world which comes through your door as an Airbnb host makes my heart soar.

Airbnb is about affordable travel not cheap accommodation. It's a community built on trust, local knowledge, a common interest in travel and a common believe that staying in someone's own home offers a different and superior experience when travelling. Because of this - and the huge costs of Sydney real estate - I am not able to discount.

Central Station is 900 meters away (945 yards) so all train lines - including the Airport Line are walking distance. It is quicker to catch the train for $16 than wait for a cab at Sydney Airport's notorious taxi queues. The train trip is about 11 minutes, and the walk across Prince Alfred Park is another 10. Redfern Station is 500 meters (540 yards) away. About 1km (.6 of a mile) to Sydney University or the University of Technology, Sydney. Regent St is a through street from the city to Sydney's south, but with the newly installed double gazing, it is very quiet here. Looking right from the balcony, you can see the south-west section of the city, and through to Sydney Uni looking west.

If the dates you want are not available but you would still like the convenience of Redfern, please check out my other place. Look on the right of the screen for the 'My Other Listings' button.

There is secure undercover parking available. I make this available for either apartment to book . If you are driving to Sydney or planning on booking a rental car, please let me know so I can reserve the parking for you and your family. Also a gym and pool is available for guests, and there is s a lovely rooftop herb garden with views of the city, and west to Sydney University and the Anzac Bridge. Lovely for an afternoon drink and h'ordeurves, surrounded by beds of thyme and lavender.

The city centre is on your doorstep, and proximity to transport means that the whole of Sydney is easily accessible. The Eastern Suburbs line goes through Redfern, so Bondi Station and the Eastern Suburbs are about 16 minutes away. Bondi and Tamarama Beach are a further 15 minutes by bus from the the station. It's a great city - and this is a great spot to explore it from.

There are cafes and restaurants within a block, and within a 15 minute walk to the east are the exciting eateries and bars of Crown St and Surry Hills. Newtown is a 20 minute walk to the west and the gorgeous Erskineville village is between the two. Redfern is at the southern end of the CBD (five minute walk to Central Station and George St): you can have a leisurely 45 minutes stroll right along George to the Opera House, Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge, and come back through the Botanic Gardens.

I also provide tea, coffee (with your own espresso machine), cereal and fresh milk for your breakfast.

Guest Access

You will have the full apartment to yourselves, with access to the pool, gym, and a rooftop garden with city views

Interaction with Guests

You have 100 privacy. If you arrive before normal check in time of 10am, Max will greet you. Toy are welcome to drop your bags and change before heading out for coffee while he finishes preparing the apartment.

I try to meet my guests, but this is not always viable fior those who are only here for a couple of days. Having said thrat, I do get to meet about 80% of my guests,, and welcoming folks to Sydney is the best part of being an Airbnb host!

The Neighborhood

Proximity to the city! You cannot beat the neighbourhoods which abut the CBD for convenience, and Redfern Station offs one of the best for getting EVERYWHERE in Sydney. I love the history, the architecture, the mix of people from every imaginable culture who live side by side on this very modern Sydney village.

Getting around

In 10 minutes, you are in the CBD, 20 minutes to Darling Harbour (where my college is located) 40 minute comfortable stroll along George St to the Harbour Bridge (I never get tired of riding across that!) or The Sydney Opera House (up there with Empire State, Big Ben, and the Eiffel Tower as amazing architecture which defines a city!)

Free parking is on offer, but please ask before booking, as I share between two apartments. If no one has already requested it, it is yours at no further cost!

Only half a dozen drops from the airport, and Redfern Station is a five minute walk away. All but two train lines go through Redfern. Central bus interchange is 70p meters away.

So close to everything, and yet so quiet and peaceful!

  • We stayed at Paul's for several nights whilst working in Sydney. Paul was an excellent host and communicator providing all the information we needed to access keys an parking. The apartment was all and more than we had hoped for.... amenities were of a very high standard and having a fully equipped laundry was fantastic. The location was so central to the city and apartment and parking very secure. I enjoyed meeting Paul and look forward to another stay when we can share more time chatting. Additional to our comfortable stay - Paul was able to recommend a place to eat in walking distance. It was the hi light of our week. Thanks Paul, we will definitely be back again! Ann and Rob

  • Paul is a great host, The apartment was in excellent condition and no hassles involved. It is only a 5-10 minute walk from the city centre and the bed is HUGE! Communications were good as Paul nearly almost responded within the hour. I can recommend anyone who is visiting Sydney to stay in this apartment.

    April 2014
  • Paul was the most helpful host and he definitely added to our enjoyment of our week in Sydney.
His apartment is worth every cent and we were very comfortable and relaxed in our home from home. Definitely an improvement to staying in a hotel as we did on our last visit.

    April 2014
  • After contacting Paul at the very last minute, desperate for a place to stay that night, I was extremely grateful for the immediate response I received.

Paul was incredibly friendly and helpful in setting up accommodation for that afternoon and met us at the apartment for a smooth transfer of the keys. We were delighted to share a good hour getting to know Paul.

We felt very much at home in this cosy little apartment which had a good supply of staples in the kitchen and meant we needn't go grocery shopping right away. Watch out when cooking on the stove though- despite having the fan on and windows open, we managed to set the fire alarm off.

The secure parking was a bonus that meant we could come and go without the hassle of looking for street parking. The apartment was clean and the bed was comfy! What more to ask for. I was only disappointed we couldn't stay longer :)

    April 2014
  • We had such a good time in Pauls Appartment! The Appartment ist very clean, the bed is really huge and very comfortable. We where two adults with our two Girls and no problem in this bed.
Paul came even for a short visit, with was really lovely. It is nice to see and know the person behind an appartment.
We arrived really late, but the description of Paul, how to find the Place, the keys and all the rest, were so precise, that wie Managed it easily even after 26 hours of flight.
Paul is a very warm and helpfull man and we can really recommand the biggest bed in Sydney.

    March 2014
  • The apartment was clean, comfortable and convenient. Paul was an excellent host, providing comprehensive info about the apt prior to our stay, and accommodating flexible check in/check out times. Highly recommended!

    March 2014
  • I loved Paul's apartment so much that I actually asked him if he was willing to offer a long term rental agreement (I was in Sydney looking for apartments to rent) to which he (understandably) declined as (of course) the place was heavily booked for the next 6 weeks! Its in a great location - just minutes walk to the train station. The apartment is clean and quite large. I really enjoyed my experience here and would 100% stay again!

    March 2014
  • Very nice apartment is as-advertised. This was a way better deal than any hotel we could find. Location is only a few blocks from the train station, so access to the main tourist sites are easily accessible. Getting access to the place was easy and Paul always responded via email very quickly.

    March 2014
  • Paul's instructions were easy to follow to access the apartment. The place is clean and the big bed is massive! The pantry was well stocked with cooking essentials. Paul was very helpful and accessible (should we have needed him, though we didn't). We found some cute little cafes for breakfasts within a 5 minute walk, and the place is only a 15 minute walk to Surry Hills or into the city. Would definitely recommend and return to for our next trip to Sydney.

    March 2014
  • Couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Lovely accommodation and well located for easy transport links. In addition to maps and guides in the apartment Paul was kind enough to recommend places and advise on transport options for our brief stay, really helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

About
I am a lecturer at the largest counselling and psychotherapy college in Australia, and this work is fascinating both in terms of the wonderful students, and also the amazing staff with whom I work. I spent 10 years being a social researcher on sexual behaviour, gender and sexuality, having come to academia late after running a small manufacturing business, being a tram driver in Melbourne and a wasted year in a clothing factory after high school. Meeting my guests - especially those visiting Australia - is like having a little holiday without leaving Sydney as I get to hear what their home countries are like. I manage to meet over 80% of my guests to welcome them to town! And this is the best part of being a host with Airbnb. I have also been really lucky to meet a lot of other local hosts, managers from the San Francisco head office, and the wonderful, warm and friendly staff at the Sydney office. I have traveled extensively in Australasia, Europe and North America, including staying in Airbnb homes so I really know what makes for a good stay. It's both a pleasure and an honour to have folks stay at my place, especially international guests who are traveling around this lovely country. I have two great apartments, close to the centre of Sydney, available as the entire place for up to four guests. I do not stay when guests are staying - you have the whole apartment to yourselves. Redfern is an original area of Sydney, featuring some of the oldest homes dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Prince Alfred Park is nearby, and the city itself is on the other side of that. You can literally walk to town in under 10 minutes, and it is well supported with public transport to all parts of the city only a four blocks from my front door.
