The space
Top floor of Old St. Vincent's — an early-1900s hospital turned condos, three blocks off Harrison Avenue. Fourteen-foot ceilings, exposed brick, original wood floors, and windows tall enough that Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive do most of the decorating.

One open room under 14-ft ceilings with a wall of windows facing the Sawatch Range. Gas fireplace, TV, and a dining table for four. A door closes this room off from the bedroom hall, so you can keep the living area warm and sleep in cooler bedrooms.

Electric range and oven, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster. Pots, pans, dishes, and cooking basics are stocked — cook a real dinner instead of eating out twice a day.
➔ Bedroom 1 — King
Iron bed, fresh white linens, a dresser on each side, room-darkening shades, and mountains out the window.
➔ Bedroom 2 — Queen
Pine armoire that holds a week of gear, three windows, and a desk in the corner — this is the dedicated workspace, in a room with a door.

The arched-window room. Peaks straight out the glass, black dresser, reading lamp beside the bed.

✗ Old windows and thin insulation. This loft runs cold on a winter night — that's the trade for a 1900s building. A gas fireplace, wall and baseboard heaters, space heaters in the closets, and extra blankets are all here, and January guests have reported staying warm using them.
✗ Third floor, no elevator. Stairs plus 10,152 ft of elevation is a real workout with luggage — one bag per trip, or plan two trips.

This is a historic building with original windows and limited insulation, so the loft gets cold on winter days. We provide a gas fireplace, electric baseboard and wall-mounted heaters throughout, space heaters in the closets, and extra blankets. Guests who stayed in January reported staying warm using them — but come prepared for a cold building, not a new one.
There is no air conditioning. At 10,152 ft, Leadville nights cool off on their own.
The baseboard heaters get hot to the touch. If you're traveling with small children, please make sure they don't touch them.

▵ Old St. Vincent's is a smoke-free building — including all unit balconies and all stairways and entryways.
▵ Parking is limited to two vehicles per unit. Additional vehicles must park on the street.
▵ No RVs, boats, or trailer campers may be parked in the parking lot.
ACCESS
There is no elevator in this building — the loft is on the third floor and you will be walking up and down stairs. Worth planning for if you're arriving with an infant, small children, or a lot of luggage.
LONGER STAYS
For stays longer than 15 days, a mid-stay cleaning is required and an additional fee of $150 applies. It keeps the home comfortable and clean for the length of your stay.
ALTITUDE
Altitude sickness is real. Leadville and Twin Lakes sit above 10,000 feet, and symptoms can include dizziness and nausea. Please plan for it. We can't offer refunds for guests affected by altitude, so if you think you may be, we recommend buying travel insurance when you book.
MOUNTAIN LIVING
Staying in the mountains means being closer to nature, and you may occasionally encounter local wildlife, insects, or small critters. Please keep doors closed when you can. We've taken thorough measures to keep your stay undisturbed.

The Mineral Belt Trail circles the town: 11.6 paved miles past 1880s silver-mine ruins, with trailheads within walking distance. It's a bike and running loop in summer, groomed for Nordic skiing and fat biking in winter.
Turquoise Lake, the Twin Lakes, and the trailheads for Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive are all short drives.
One note: the old rail depot is next door, so a train may be audible during the day. A January guest wrote that they heard it a few times but never after 9pm.
