Fully-equipped 2 bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment in a 3-floor waterfront building of 7 apartments in beautiful Birchgrove on the Balmain peninsula. The apartment is on the top floor with access to a large rooftop deck which gives a 360 degree panorama of Sydney harbour and surrounds. A lovely path and stairs lead down to a private waterfront garden.
The kitchen includes stove/oven, fridge, microwave, kettle, cutlery, toaster, crockery and all the basics for self-catering. There is no dishwasher (yet!).
There is a Weber charcoal BBQ on the waterfront at the bottom of the garden. Charcoal is not supplied and can be easily obtained from the supermarket.
Bedroom-1 contains a queen-size bed and Bedroom-2 has 2 single beds that can also be reconfigured into a king-size bed.
All bed-linen is provided and plenty spare towels, sheets, blankets, quilts, pillows. Ample wardrobe, hanging space and drawers.
The living room has a leather lounge plus 2 armchairs, TV, DVD, IPod dock, Pay-TV, telephone, inkjet printer, wired and WiFi internet. Internet and local telephone calls are included free of charge.
A dining nook leads off from the living room and has a travertine dining table and 6 chairs.
Contains a bath (with shower), vanity,hair-dryer, toilet and a washer/dryer.
HEATING & COOLING
There is no air-conditioning although the bedrooms have ceiling fans which are very effective in hotter weather (January/February). Electric space heaters are supplied for the winter months.
All rooms have great views and plenty of natural light and ventilation.
Street parking is available and a visitor parking permit is provided that allows unlimited parking in what are otherwise 2-hour zones. Parking can be tight but it would be unusual to have to park more than 50 metres away.
Birchgrove/Balmain is an upscale Sydney suburb set on a peninsula jutting out into Sydney harbour. Balmain’s shopping centre has a unique village feel with lots of parks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, fashion-shops and supermarkets. The main shopping strip is a 15-minute walk or 2 minutes by car.
TRANSPORT AND TOURING
The apartment is right at the ferry wharf and this makes it a great base for exploring Sydney. Buses to the city run from Grove Street Birchgrove (5 min walk) or Darling Street Balmain (15 min walk).
Dawn Fraser Swimming Pool is a very popular harbour pool (20 min walk) and well worth a visit. Cockatoo Island, which is an increasingly popular Arts hub, can be seen from the apartment and is accessible by ferry.
The apartment has been popular for longer working holiday stays. It is a very quiet building, plenty of room to spread out, with high-speed Internet and is only a short-distance from the city. The airport is a 20-30 minute drive away.
We accept bookings for a minimum of 7 nights. For long bookings (2 months or more) we may be prepared to negotiate more attractive rates.
We are particularly keen to ensure guests do not disturb other residents and we seek assurances that there will not be noisy gatherings or loud music.
We expect potential guests to send us brief personal profile information - number of people in your group, approximate ages, type of work you do, where you normally live, why you are visiting Sydney, etc.
This is a small block with mostly long-term residents. Your courteous respect for their privacy and amenity is expected.

Welcome! I am a semi-retired owner of an IT business and my wife, Cathy, is a physician.
We both enjoy traveling and have had plenty of adventures in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.
Our passions are golf and cycling.
We live on the coast about an hour south of Sydney and have listed our Sydney apartment with Airbnb and, also a private apartment attached to our home in Wombarra. The apartments are used mostly by friends and family and we welcome Airbnb guests with verified profiles at other times to share the beauty of Sydney harbour and the near south coast..
