Cozy home sweet home in the heart South Congress and all the Austin Charm.
A short stroll to music, food and shops. Down time can be spent with some records or playing a tune on the wurlitzer. The back yard is ready for hammock naps and a picnic!
Enjoy the 78704 area with your very own cozy little house. Have drinks with friends or relax in a hammock in the back yard before taking a walk to the plentiful South Austin food and drink offerings to be found in either direction. A short distance from Zilker park and less than a minutes walk to bus # 10, so you're minutes to downtown for a single dollar, 2 dollars and you get unlimited transfers for the next 24 hrs!
In the main bedroom you will have a lovely king bed! There is a Queen bed in the second bed room and a single bed can be put out in the sun room. An air mattress is available for larger groups.
Also I have a pack and play type crib for those traveling with children!
The living room can be host to your new record store purchases or lounging between activities. While you may want to sample all the coffee, tacos, and margaritas beyond the front yard, the kitchen is ready for some drink and snack making and is really a dream to those that enjoy cooking on vacation.
South 1st neighborhood has a lot of the locals favorite shops, food trucks and cafe's.
You are minutes from down town and the South Congress or popular SOCO area.
The area is accessible by walking, biking or public transit. There is also plenty of free parking and drive way if you have a car.
The bus is one block from the house and will take you to down town straight route. Easy!
Oh so good!!
Perfect cosy home for 4 of us.
Amazing location...a quick walk to the 24 hour magnolia cafe...bars, restaurants, live music all within walking distance.
SoCo is a great neighborhood that honors and respects local business.
We had a great escape and Baxter was super easy to communicate with and made the experience very easy.
The cottage was great for our needs and Baxter was very friendly and helpful throughout the process. She sent helpful emails in advance to orient us to both the apartment and neighborhood. Baxter was also easily available by text and accommodated us storing our luggage until our evening flights. The cottage was clean and as seen in the pictures with a fun Austin vibe and a great location. The only drawback was low water pressure in the shower and warm (not hot) water. Everything else was great though and I highly recommend!
This was the perfect spot for our first trip to Austin. We came as a group of four intent on exploring a large part of the city over the course of 5 days, and the house location made it easy to do! We opted for local buses (the 10 is a great option to get downtown quickly), walks up and down 1st street and Congress, and the occasional Lyft to get around. Baxter met us with tons of tips and even a kind bottle of welcome champagne. Well worth a stay! Thanks, Baxter.
The house is a cozy little cottage that was clean and comfortable. It was the perfect size for me, my girlfriend, and my two small dogs. Although it's not fancy, it had everything we needed and everything about the place is charming. Including a turntable with Dolly Parton on it when we came in, books of poetry scattered around the house, and personal touches like old postcards tacked to the walls to make it feel like home. I actually felt like I was staying at a friends house and not in some impersonal rental.
It's also in one of the most fun neighborhoods in Austin. You can walk two blocks and you're at Fair Bean coffee. In three blocks your at Bouldin Creek Cafe, one of Austin's best places to get breakfast. Plus all vegetarian. everything you need food wise is right here.
Finally Baxter is an excellent host. She let me adjust times and dates as needed and was prompt to reply to any concern or question. She just made everything easy.
We had a great time staying here. The location was very central and convenient. There were all sorts of awesome restaurants within walking distance. The house itself was very clean, with lots of fun things like an electric piano and record player. The king size bed was a huge plus for us; it's really soft, like a cloud. Baxter was very helpful and communicative. The water pressure wasn't super high, but that's often the case with older houses, plus it was in the 30s (temperature)! We would stay here again and recommend highly!
I stayed at Baxter's place with two others. Baxter and her partner were on hand to welcome us, and provided great tips for gigs, food and other things to do in the neighborhood.
Baxter's place feels cosy and lived-in, and is in a good part of Austin.
The 2nd bedroom is separated by a partition, not a door, not so great for privacy.
That said, I would stay here again,
Baxter was prompt, friendly and informative. Gave us some great ideas for plans. The description was accurate, the neighborhood was walkable and there were great things to explore close by. Thanks!

I fill my time at home with cooking, painting and music and outside of that I can be found on the map somewhere between Texas and North Carolina.
