One of the best things about Portland is that it's a real city in the middle of the great outdoors. Learn to kayak or kite board in Hood River. Rent a car and stay for a night at the historic Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood. Or you can take a trip to the Cannon Beach or Manzanita just 60 miles away.
West Burnside/Goose Hollow Neighborhood -- invigorating, bustling, alive.
Located near the top of West Burnside where you can enjoy everything a big, ugly, beautiful, chaotic, urban boulevard is supposed to have: great books and music, dive bars, a pinch of glamour, crazy characters, kamikaze bicyclists, green parks and fancy restaurants. All right outside your front door.

Washington Park. This park is probably the city's most popular. From it you get spectacular views of the city.
Jeld-wen Field - next door.
Quiet after 11 p.m. please.
No smoking allowed in this building including the deck, $75 fine.
The door to the deck should be secured with a doorstop when left open. To open and close it apply steady force towards you while twisting the lock.
Feel free to use the kitchen and the main living area but clean up after yourself.
Be sure to turn off the gas stove after use. Take extra caution when cooking with the deck door open -- there've been a couple of times when a breeze blows out the flame and there is a gas smell in the apartment.
Please do not use the crystal glassware without asking.
The carpet in the bedroom is made of wool which can be difficult to clean, please avoid walking on it with visibly dirty shoes.
Use the bathroom vent when showering or else moisture can accumulate on the bedroom windows and may damage wood paneling. Bathroom vent is on its last legs so try to avoid using this for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Julius could not be at home when we arrived, but after clear email communication had everything prepared for our stay. We liked our very spacious and comfortable bedroom and the open plan kitchen in the big living room, everything recently designed in a modern puristic way.
The view onto the city from the 6th floor with deck was a special surprise. The apartment is very well located on the rim of the city centre within walking distance to literally any touristic point of interest. We were interested in the environmental development of Portland and felt very lucky with this location.
Julius is a good host. He was very friendly and supplied us with free parking space as soon as he could. Also he helped us with directions in the city.
We would certainly recommend his apartment to other visitors.
If I had to describe the perfect Airbnb experience, that will be it. Julius is the kindest host you can imagine. Goes way beyond your expectation.
And the apartment is great. A jumping distance from the MAX from/to airport and downtown area. The room is brilliant, private, clean and with a beautiful view to Portland. To watch the sunrise from the window is wonderful way to start a day. Starbucks, pizza, chinese, supermarket, you name it. Whatever you need is just around.
If you're going to Portland, staying at Julius is the #1 choice.
Wonderful location, near the 23rd Street shopping and restaurant district and within easy walking distance to downtown. The apartment has controlled access with a concierge in the lobby 24/7. A great view from the living room and porch which overlooks downtown. Covered controlled access parking. Any toiletries or other items can be found at shop across the pedestrian mall from the building and a Starbucks is within 50 yards of the building. This was our first experience in renting a room within an occupied apartment and we had some trepidation about sharing space. The bedroom has its own bath, providing us with our "own space." The host Julius was courteous and we can only hope that we were as unobtrusive in his life as he was in ours. During our encounters, he was courteous and let us know when he would and would not be there. We would stay there again and consider it a good value.
Julius was an excellent host! He has a beautiful place right in the heart of downtown portland, and everything we needed was in walking distance. We had our own private room and bathroom, with big windows overlooking the city. He has underground parking for guests, which worked out great as we did more walking than driving once we were there. We had such a great time that we decided to stay an extra night at a hotel (since Julius already had another guest coming that night), and Julius gave us two guest parking passes so that we did not have to pay the $25 parking charge at the hotel! Overall a fantastic experience and highly recommended!
Julius' apartment was amazing! Just a couple minutes from the downtown area, and just steps away from relevant bus lines. The Portland Timbers play just behind the building, but we weren't there during MLS season so not too sure if it gets loud.
Julius was really kind, courteous and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
This location is fantastic. Within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants on NW 23rd street and the nearby street car, the entire city was pretty accessible from here. Also, Powell's and Voodoo Doughnuts just a 10 minute walk away.
Julius was a great host that went out of his way to make us feel welcome. When I go back to Portland, I'll definitely stay here again.
