The Space

We offer a luxurious stay in our home - Ballyteige House. You will stay in a very large, airy en suite room with carved wooden king sized bed. There is also a single bed in the room and cot / camp bed available on request.

Ballyteige House dates back to the 19th Century and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside along with a beautiful mature garden for you to relax in. The rate includes Bed and Full Irish Breakfast and tea and scones on arrival. Packed lunches (Eur8) and evening meal (Eur25) are available on request. We use locally sourced, high quality food products in our recipes.

We are located 1 mile outside the town of Rathdrum. Rathdrum is a quaint town located in the heart of Wicklow, just a fifteen minute drive from the famous Glendalough monastic settlement. There are countless places of interest nearby such as Avondale House and Forest Park former home of Charles Stewart Parnell which is just a couple of miles away. We are a ten minute drive to Glenmalure, where the Wicklow Way hiking trail can be accessed (transfers available).

Rathdrum is located approximately 1 hour from Dublin City Centre and is accessible by train (70 mins). Collection from Rathdrum train station is available on request as is collection/dropoff from Drumgoff (Wicklow Way hiking trail).

  • Niamh was very welcoming and hospitable. She collected us from the Wicklow Way Walk and drove us into Rathdrum to catch the train. The room was large and comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic.

  • You could not ask for a better Host. The O'Ceallaigh family was so kind and made our trip to Ireland one we will never forget. You will not be disappointed in staying with Niamh and her sweet family. If we ever make it back to Ireland we will definitely try to stay with the O'Ceallaigh family again.

  • We had a wonderful stay in the Wicklow area with Niamh and her family. The area is stunning with rolling hills and lots of walking opportunities. Naimh's home is lovely, a quite place out of the bustle of town; the room was spacious and well appointed with a very modern bathroom. On arrival we were greeted with homemade scones and tea near the fire. Naimh and her husband Cormac were helpful in making our stay easy despite some snafus with our car and other plans. I would definitely stay with them again.

  • It was an absolute pleasure to stay with Niamh and her family in their beautiful, peaceful home. The setting is stunning. We spent a day in the Wicklow mountains, walking. Such beautiful scenery .... and the sun was shining! Niamh and her husband were charming and very gracious hosts. They were helpful in all respects and made sure we had a roaring fire to sit by each evening. The most delicious scones with pot of tea was a welcome bonus! Our room was great. Lots of space, huge comfy bed and a super bathroom en-suite. Great shower. Just perfect.
We would definitely stay with them again if we were planning to spend time in the Wicklow Mountains.

  • We had a comfortable, happy, peaceful and invigorating two day stay at beautiful Ballyteige House and were made to feel so welcome by Niamh and family. A spacious, clean and inviting bedroom and bathroom, as well as a welcoming invitation to use the sitting room - a fantastic breakfast with good company from the girls, and some top notch recommendations for walking in the countryside locally. Armed with a map and a compass lent by our hosts we enjoyed a fantastic day on Lugnaquilla. Thanks Niamh.

  • We just returned from a lovely visit to Ireland and stayed a couple of nights with Niamh and her family at the Ballyteige House in County Wicklow. We had a great time..everything was quite cozy, the setting was exquisite and quite close to lush and beautiful spots in the Wicklow Mountains.
