About this listing
Airbnb suggests $98/night, but we charge $19 less. If you can handle the sounds of a family home, this is the place for you! :)
Our home is nestled in a quaint town called Lafayette in the East Bay of San Francisco. We live right next to the Lafayette bike/walking trail which goes between Lafayette and Moraga and makes for a lovely stroll. Grocery Stores (Trader Joes and Safeway), drugstore (CVS), coffee shops (local, Starbucks, Peets, etc.), boutiques and many lovely restaurants within 2 miles (3-5 minute drive). We are a very short drive to Orinda, Moraga and Walnut Creek for more shopping and restaurants - and on the same road as St. Mary's College (3 minutes). We are a 30 minute drive or train ride to San Francisco, and a 15 minute drive to Berkeley and Oakland. Lafayette Bart Station is 2 miles away (5 minutes).
Road trips to various beautiful Northern California locations are also convenient - San Francisco (30 minutes), Napa & Sonoma (less than 1 hour), Marin, Santa Cruz (1.5 hours), Half Moon Bay (1.25 hours), Carmel & Monterey (2 hours), Yosemite (3-3.5 hours), Lake Tahoe (3 hrs away.)
The room is large with bay windows, a large, sunken bathtub and double sink (no shower, but depending on circumstances, we can possibly arrange access to separate shower in main home). This room was the original master bedroom in the house before renovations and can comfortably sleep 2 people in the Queen bed (with featherbed!). It has a private entrance into the backyard. We will provide key to separate entrance for easy and private in/out access.
In addition to the cozy Queen bed with wooden frame, we also have custom shelving, which houses a TV with cable as well as a host of books to read while in our home. Drawers are empty and available for your clothes, as well as a walk in closet with hangers. Wireless internet is also available.
Extra treats: free parking, no cleaning fee.
Light kitchen privileges (like milk in fridge) *may* be arranged for long term guests, but not full kitchen access or cooking. However, there are plenty of affordable restaurants nearby.
If the room looks available on the Calendar on Airbnb, it's available! There's no need to write and ask if it's available, unless you just want to say "hi." In which case, we'll be happy to say "hi" back. :)
Rules are simple: no drugs, no smoking indoors, no underage drinking. And we'd appreciate you keep the lights off while not in use. Swimming pool is available, but not under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. Swim at your own risk. Other than that, we only ask that you treat our home with respect and leave the key on the bedside table upon leaving (if we're not here to check you out personally).
We had a great time staying at Chris and Terra's home. Thank you for having us we weren't bothered at all and enjoyed every minute of our stay and being so welcoming to us in your home, thanks again ! :)
I really enjoyed my stay at Terra & Chris's place. The room is really spacious, and the bathroom has a lot of natural light and is a nice size. The bed was really comfy to sleep on, and I definitely rested well while staying there. There is no shower in the bathroom, just a bathtub (which is huge and awesome), which worked out fine for me. I only met Chris briefly and he was great! I did hear their kids a little bit, but it didn't bother me, as I was barely home.
Great stay at Chris and Terra's house. Good communication and a private entrance to our room from the back of the house. Lafayette is a really cool town right outside the busy city! Chris was nice enough to give my boyfriend and I a lift to the BART so we didn't have to worry about driving into the city. Thanks for hosting us!
Chris greeted me and politely carried my bag to the suite. He gave me tour and showed me where extra covers, towels etc.. could be found. I was quite pleased that he made an electric kettle available for morning coffee and evening tea. I immediately felt comfortable and sincerely welcome.
The Carmichael's place was perfect for us. They communicated information about our stay in a timely fashion and the room was just as we envisioned at an affordable price for this area. If you need a quiet place to sleep with a bath (no shower) as we did, this house is perfect. Just off the regional trail system and an easy (1.5 mile) walk into downtown Lafayette.
Chris was super nice. The neighborhood was lovely. The room was very nice. It had a big tub but no shower, which was fine for me. I could definitely hear the kids, but it was not a problem for me. The only real issue was that parking was very tight and awkward. I did some pretty bad damage to my car, scraping it against a curb bordering their west-sloping, curved driveway filled with cars on a pretty busy, north-sloping road with limited sight distance. They have a 3-car garage but still park all three cars in the driveway. I have a circular driveway at home myself and make it a point to NEVER block it. I would advise they use their garage when renters are present. That would help a lot.

About the Host, Terra & Chris
Hi there! I was there with my son cooper last year to visit safari west, and am bringing his twin brother this time. I hope you still have the chickens, as they are often talked about in our home! :). Look forward to seeing you again.
