Why stay in a hotel or even a room in someone else’s home, when for the same price (or less) you can have complete privacy in an incredible space.
Location: Private guest house which is centrally located in the Culver City/mid-Wilshire adjacent area of Los Angeles. 10 minutes from the charm of Larchmont Village and Paramount Studios, 15 minutes from downtown LA and 7 minutes to Beverly Hills or Culver City. Walking distance to Venice Boulevard which is serviced by major bus lines going east and west., and La Cienega for North/South bus. I've lived her since 1993 and find it to be safe & a typical urban middle class family residential area.

My guests are ensured of their privacy and comfort. I am a relatively new AirBnb Host, but I am a professional Travel Host in my daily life and considered one of the top travel hosts with over 1,000 positive reviews from guests on trips I have hosted for that company. I want to make my guests feel at home, and if it is possible for me to pick you up from the airport I’m happy to. I love hosting people of all ages and from all parts of the globe. I grew up in Yokohama, Japan and come from an Irish-American heritage, and appreciate all cultures.

*Laundry Room on property with coin operated MayTag washer & dryer.
Special Conditions: • PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU BOOK
I require a $200 refundable damage/security deposit and a one-time $55 cleaning fee – both amounts are handled through Airbnb. Cleaning fee does not include taking out your trash or doing dishes. If bags of trash or dirty dishes are left or place is excessively dirty additional cleaning fees will be deducted from security deposit. I will provide you with my housekeepers phone number should you want to hire her services during your stay, but also some cleaning supplies are in the unit so you can do your own cleaning if you're here for an extended stay.
NO SMOKING inside the house- but you may smoke outside just don't leave butts around.
No pets please - I'm doing my best to keep allergy free units.
To keep your Airbnb fees down the 14% LA CITY HOTEL TAX on stays 29 days or less must be paid in cash upon arrival. Stays of 30 or more days are considered a rental by the city so are not subject to the tax.
I require photos and profiles from all guests - I will not process a booking without this.
The space is separate from the main house. Guest has access to the backyard, shared space and the outdoor BBQ/grills. Also, access to my coin-operated washer and dryer.
Interaction with Guests
I love people, but because the guest house is not attached to the main house often times the most I see of a guest is when I check them in. Especially if they are busy off doing things, but if they spend a lot of time in the garden and I see them I always say hi. I've also had guests that we make a point of doing things together; if I am going to a party of event & can invite others I generally extend the invitation & I have a few repeat tests that we just make plans to get together. I go with the flow & respect your reason for being here; if you are here to write a book or study for exams, work I will not bother you. If you are here to see sights & visit old friends & I can extend the invitation to something I will.
What I love about this neighborhood is it's diversity of cultures and how quiet it is considering it is in the middle of the city. I love that I feel safe and can take an early morning or evening walk. We are a lovely little cul-de-sac with 1920 style homes with commercial businesses just around the corner, the smell of freshly roasting coffee beans is what you will wake up to Monday thru Friday because I'm behind a gourmet coffee company!
Like most LAers I drive, but there are bus stops within a block of my house, the Metro has a big station not too far and many of my guests have rented or purchase bicycles for getting around. It's also easy to get a share ride with Uber or Lyft for reasonable price.
Other Things to Note
This is my home office, and on when I have guests I do my best to get what I need from there and work from inside the main house, but there is always a chance I might need access to a file; I will text you in advance & work out access that does not impose on you. The is very rare.
I just ask that people be respectful; this is a quiet residential area so swinging from the ceiling fans & crazy partying isn't going to make friends. NO SMOKING inside & if you smoke on the grounds do not leave evidence of it. I have a booklet in the room that tries to answer any questions you may have, gives you the lay-of-the-land so to speak. This is either your vacation or you're here for work/school and I want you to have the best experience possible.
Against the wall is my office area. The hide-a-bed is a full size mattress & most of the time is hidden in the bookcase, unless I have guests.
Judalon was a wonderful host. She made me feel at home and was available to answer any questions I had. The room was as advertised and the bed was very comfortable!!! It was a quiet neighborhood and I felt very safe and at home in the cottage. Thank you Judalon for your attentiveness and hospitality.
Since I was in LA for business, I never thought that my stay at Judalon's would so relaxing and enjoyable. Her studio was as sunny and welcoming as she was!! It made you want to stop, sit outside and enjoy the patio and sun and just be quiet.
And because I did have a lot of work to do, the interior space, with all the wall to wall desktop was PERFECT!
Just what I needed. Thanks.
Judalon met us even though we arrived very late at night. She made us feel welcome and explained what needed explaining, and all of this even though that day she'd been very sick. The description of the property was accurate; it is just like in the picture (with bathroom through the cream-colored door at the back). We didn't explore the immediate neighborhood too much, but the location was excellent for our purposes. It was super close to vegan restaurants, stand up comedy - all good LA stuff! We experienced serious difficulties with the internet, which Judalon tried valiantly to have fixed before we left. Presumably that will be fixed properly by now.
One warning for overseas visitors; we got TWO simultaneous parking tickets, one for parking facing the 'wrong way' (allowed where we live) and one for the street-cleaning hours (which we are not used to).
I'm not hard to please but I found myself a couple of notches above "pleased" with Judalon's cozy little rental in a quiet neighborhood just off busy Venice Bvld. where most of the residents are long-time homeowners. Ms. Smyth goes out of her way to make you feel at home and will interact or be non-intrusive to suit your needs. And the price is right. This is the kind of hostess that makes Air BnB work.
Judalon is the perfect host! She received me at the Guest House in a very courtesy way and She took me around in her car to show me the neighborhood and to buy my first necessities for my stay. I've been in her Guest house for 28 jours and it has been a great experience. She has been always kind and attentive to all my exigences. Everything is as you see in the photos, the apartment is clean, quiet and functional for every needs. The garden is fantastic and relaxant. You're in mid-city, so your position is excellent for every kind of displacement. I definitely recommend Judalon and her Guest House, if I will return in LA I will stay here.
Staying at Judelon's gust house was an absolute pleasure. Her property is amazing and one of a kind. The guest house was perfect for my needs. Very clean, a great bed, desk to work at, ample closet space and a very nice kitchenette and bathroom. Judalon was a great host, very kind, pleasant, accommodating and great attention to detail. The next time I am in LA, I will stay there again!
Judalon is a great host. She greeted me when I arrived at her property and showed me her wonderful guest house. She had a welcome basket of goodies waiting for me and even took me to several grocery stores to pick up some essentials. The space is a wonderful retreat, almost like a studio apartment, with a great shower, comfy bed and work area, plus nice amenities like a huge closet for clothing (with a steamer!) and a little patio area outside to soak up the sun. The perfect place to ease into LA life.

About the Host, Judalon
I'm a writer and like most creative people I do many things. My passion for travel lead me to become a travel host for a travel club. I'm a nationally certified EMT for movies and TV, and if that isn't enough I'm also a professional supervised child visitation monitor.
I grew up in Yokohama, Japan where I was a model/actress. I was under contract to Buena Vista (Disney) and when the movie Snow White came to Japan I became Princess Snow White for 2 years traveling all over Japan for the film. It was my favorite job because I went to children's hospitals and orphanages with truck loads of gifts. It taught me that giving is joyful and fulfilling. I once was fluent, but too many years of no one to speak with it's now a lot of work for me to put a sentence together.
I love travel, photography which is a hobby, and I've had the good fortune to have my photographs published in 3 books. Love treasure hunting, cooking, reading, movies, exploring other cultures and am open to new experiences and adventures. I love tropical destinations, but must say Alaska's Inside Passage and the Grand Canyon are two places no one should live without seeing. I have many favorite books and must confess I'm a Harry Potter fan! Movies...Yep, love the romantic comedies! As far as the 5 things I can't live without: love, compassion, honesty, family and good health.
I'd say that I am basically a shy, private person and while I love people I don't drink or smoke so wouldn't say I'm a party-girl. As a host I'm pretty easy going. My spaces are all separate houses on one property so everyone has a lot of privacy and often we don't see each other unless one initiates a face-to-face meet. I'm the sort of person that if I have a party I certainly would invite my guests. I try to accommodate others; I had a guest who left this tux for me to return... he didn't even give me a review and I went out of my way quite a bit. I suppose that would be my pet peeve; people who are not appreciative when others extend themselves. Fortunately, most people are gems and a delight.
