QUIET, CREATIVE SPACE, GARDEN GUEST HOUSE - CLOSE TO EVERYTHING (Seriously -close to just about everything you want to see in Los Angeles!)
Why stay in a hotel or even a room in someone else’s home, when for the same price (or less) you can have complete privacy in an incredible space.
Location: Private guest house which is centrally located in the Culver City/mid-Wilshire adjacent area of Los Angeles. 10 minutes from the charm of Larchmont Village and Paramount Studios, 15 minutes from downtown LA and 7 minutes to Beverly Hills or Culver City. Walking distance to Venice Boulevard which is serviced by major bus lines going east and west., and La Cienega for North/South bus. I've lived her since 1993 and find it to be safe & a typical urban middle class family residential area.
Description: The guest house is a newly remodeled 1 room with bathroom and wetbar with its own entry and patio. It is completely detached from the main house ensuring total privacy and is located in a fully gated/fenced backyard.
My guests are ensured of their privacy and comfort. I am a relatively new AirBnb Host, but I am a professional Travel Host in my daily life and considered one of the top travel hosts with over 1,000 positive reviews from guests on trips I have hosted for that company. I want to make my guests feel at home, and if it is possible for me to pick you up from the airport I’m happy to. I love hosting people of all ages and from all parts of the globe. I grew up in Yokohama, Japan and come from an Irish-American heritage, and appreciate all cultures.
• Lovely and comfortable FULL sized bed with fresh linens on arrival.
• Large desk area.
• Newly designed all tile bathroom with a double head shower (no tub).
Soft and fluffy towels and a hair dryer and iron (upon request) and ironing board are provided (upon request).
• It is bright and cheerful.
• The wet bar has a small refrigerator, microwave, electric tea kettle, toaster, dishes, glasses, cups, cutlery etc.
• Free broadband wireless.
• Heat (space), no air conditioning (generally not needed considering location to beach & coastal breeze) but has two ceiling fans (if we have a heat wave then it does get hot, but it's rare for this area not to get cold at night... but then again I can't control weather).
• Steam cleaned between guests to reduce allergens for those who suffer from seasonal allergies.
*Laundry Room on property with coin operated MayTag washer & dryer.
Special Conditions: • PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU BOOK
I require a $200 refundable damage/security deposit and a one-time $55 cleaning fee – both amounts are handled through Airbnb. Cleaning fee does not include taking out your trash or doing dishes. If bags of trash or dirty dishes are left or place is excessively dirty additional cleaning fees will be deducted from security deposit. I will provide you with my housekeepers phone number should you want to hire her services during your stay, but also some cleaning supplies are in the unit so you can do your own cleaning if you're here for an extended stay.
NO SMOKING inside the house- but you may smoke outside just don't leave butts around.
No pets please - I'm doing my best to keep allergy free units.
To keep your Airbnb fees down the 14% LA CITY HOTEL TAX on stays 29 days or less must be paid in cash upon arrival. Stays of 30 or more days are considered a rental by the city so are not subject to the tax.
I require photos and profiles from all guests - I will not process a booking without this.
The space is separate from the main house. Guest has access to the backyard, shared space and the outdoor BBQ/grills. Also, access to my coin-operated washer and dryer.
Interaction with Guests
I love people, but because the guest house is not attached to the main house often times the most I see of a guest is when I check them in. Especially if they are busy off doing things, but if they spend a lot of time in the garden and I see them I always say hi. I've also had guests that we make a point of doing things together; if I am going to a party of event & can invite others I generally extend the invitation & I have a few repeat tests that we just make plans to get together. I go with the flow & respect your reason for being here; if you are here to write a book or study for exams, work I will not bother you. If you are here to see sights & visit old friends & I can extend the invitation to something I will.
What I love about this neighborhood is it's diversity of cultures and how quiet it is considering it is in the middle of the city. I love that I feel safe and can take an early morning or evening walk. We are a lovely little cul-de-sac with 1920 style homes with commercial businesses just around the corner, the smell of freshly roasting coffee beans is what you will wake up to Monday thru Friday because I'm behind a gourmet coffee company!
Like most LAers I drive, but there are bus stops within a block of my house, the Metro has a big station not too far and many of my guests have rented or purchase bicycles for getting around. It's also easy to get a share ride with Uber or Lyft for reasonable price.
Other Things to Note
This is my home office, and on when I have guests I do my best to get what I need from there and work from inside the main house, but there is always a chance I might need access to a file; I will text you in advance & work out access that does not impose on you. The is very rare.
I just ask that people be respectful; this is a quiet residential area so swinging from the ceiling fans & crazy partying isn't going to make friends. NO SMOKING inside & if you smoke on the grounds do not leave evidence of it. I have a booklet in the room that tries to answer any questions you may have, gives you the lay-of-the-land so to speak. This is either your vacation or you're here for work/school and I want you to have the best experience possible.
Staying at Judelon's gust house was an absolute pleasure. Her property is amazing and one of a kind. The guest house was perfect for my needs. Very clean, a great bed, desk to work at, ample closet space and a very nice kitchenette and bathroom. Judalon was a great host, very kind, pleasant, accommodating and great attention to detail. The next time I am in LA, I will stay there again!
Judalon is a great host. She greeted me when I arrived at her property and showed me her wonderful guest house. She had a welcome basket of goodies waiting for me and even took me to several grocery stores to pick up some essentials. The space is a wonderful retreat, almost like a studio apartment, with a great shower, comfy bed and work area, plus nice amenities like a huge closet for clothing (with a steamer!) and a little patio area outside to soak up the sun. The perfect place to ease into LA life.
Judalon was immediately responsive by both text and phone call prior to and throughout the stay, and my booking was last minute but she was able to accommodate me. She was out of town for my entire visit, but had a resourceful and amazing friend available to assist me while she also maintained contact. The guest house was as described. The shower and bathroom are beautiful and updated. A shared stock of bath products saved me a trip to CVS. I slept well on the Murphy bed with super comfy foam topper, but I was surprised to learn the property had other rental space and potential tenants. I didn't have much luggage, but the shelves and closets are filled with personal possessions, so the area isn't a blank canvas- you'll be storing your things in the available area that isn't already stocked with belongings or a portion of the office. Largely because Judalon was out of town, there were inconveniences to staying at the property. Minimal path and exterior lighting functioned, the flashlights provided didn't work, and so coming and going in the dark before and after work was a tad precarious. I utilized the washer and dryer, which made my weeklong stay much better, but unfortunately, was too busy to sit outside with the roses or to help feed the local cats while lounging in the sun. The neighborhood was quiet and a mix of residential and commercial. I had no car, so walked in every direction and encountered very few pedestrians, but numerous guard dogs and on-site feral cats. One bus stop was near and well served by frequent north/southbound travel, but the other was almost a mile away on side streets. The guest guidebook Judalon had prepared answered most of my questions and outlined property rules. I had previously lived in the metro area and knew local spots for shopping, people watching, beach lounging, and movies, most of which were 2-10 miles away.
Stefanie, thank you so much for your review. I do wish I had been here to get you settled in. I was traveling and had not been able to do my usual check on batteries, and unfortunately a former guest sabotaged my outdoor lighting and we are working on correcting that.
I didn't expect the last minute booking and hadn't prepared for it. I am grateful my friend who was housesitting was as helpful as she was. I do hope that next time you book my Carriage House because it is strictly a guest space and unlike my Home Office/Guest House it is free of any personal items. The walk in closet in the Guest House has 2 full rods and 3 drawers cleared for guest use, which so far has been more than enough space for guests, but I'm also working on downsizing so maybe by your next visit all 4 rods will be available. Again, thank you for being a lovely guest.
Judalon was very welcoming. She was on top of everything. The room was clean, very good location.
An LA Gem in every way! Countless of rave reviews before me say it much more poetically than I can. The listing details and photos are accurate. I had 3 nights of deep sleep in complete quiet - rare anywhere else. Easy parking and quick access to Venice Blvd and you're off and running in 10 minutes to anywhere central by car versus the usual 20 minutes. Judalon is a 5 Star host who truly cares and is very communicative in all phases of your stay. Plenty of privacy and a truly nice bathroom & shower. There's a big walk-in closet and lots of other kitchen amenities too that make it easy to nest and eat in. It's a safe neighborhood which for me is essential. I'll happily return here on my next visit to LA.
Judalon was the perfect hostess! Property was exactly as described. She was excellent at communicating with me from the moment I booked the house until the end of my stay. Would recommend for anyone looking for a quiet and clean place to stay!
Judalon is super sweet, and the room was neat, quiet, and just as pictured.

I'm a writer and like most creative people I do many things. My passion for travel lead me to become a travel host for a travel club. I'm a nationally certified EMT for movies and TV, and if that isn't enough I'm also a professional supervised child visitation monitor.
I grew up in Yokohama, Japan where I was a model/actress. I was under contract to Buena Vista (Disney) and when the movie Snow White came to Japan I became Princess Snow White for 2 years traveling all over Japan for the film. It was my favorite job because I went to children's hospitals and orphanages with truck loads of gifts. It taught me that giving is joyful and fulfilling. I once was fluent, but too many years of no one to speak with it's now a lot of work for me to put a sentence together.
I love travel, photography which is a hobby, and I've had the good fortune to have my photographs published in 3 books. Love treasure hunting, cooking, reading, movies, exploring other cultures and am open to new experiences and adventures. I love tropical destinations, but must say Alaska's Inside Passage and the Grand Canyon are two places no one should live without seeing. I have many favorite books and must confess I'm a Harry Potter fan! Movies...Yep, love the romantic comedies! As far as the 5 things I can't live without: love, compassion, honesty, family and good health.
I'd say that I am basically a shy, private person and while I love people I don't drink or smoke so wouldn't say I'm a party-girl. As a host I'm pretty easy going. My spaces are all separate houses on one property so everyone has a lot of privacy and often we don't see each other unless one initiates a face-to-face meet. I'm the sort of person that if I have a party I certainly would invite my guests. I try to accommodate others; I had a guest who left this tux for me to return... he didn't even give me a review and I went out of my way quite a bit. I suppose that would be my pet peeve; people who are not appreciative when others extend themselves. Fortunately, most people are gems and a delight.
