The house is located in Halifax's historic north end, close to the unique Hydrostone neighborhood. A convenient 30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride gets you to downtown and the waterfront.
The bustling, friendly neighborhood has an urban setting and guests enjoy the nearby conveniences. The area is experiencing a period development and growth. There are several popular cafes, restaurants and shops within walking distance. The Hydrostone Marketplace is just up the street and offers great restaurants, gift and specialty shops, Julian's Bakery Shop being a favorite of many.
With the close proximity to downtown, nearby schools and businesses there is plenty of pedestrian and vehicle traffic on weekdays. The neighborhood usually quiets during the evenings and weekends.
The Hydrostone District is minutes away and definitely worth a stroll. The beautiful English-style garden suburb was built in 1920 following the destruction caused by the Halifax Explosion. The unique houses, built on wide tree-lined streets, are constructed from hydrostone concrete blocks.
With major bus routes close to the front door guests have no trouble navigating the city from this convenient location. Downtown is an easy 30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from the front door.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
Have a pleasant stay.
Lovely spacious apartment set-up as a home rather than just a holiday rental (full kitchen and well equipped living spaces, etc.). Convenient location with many helpful dining and attraction suggestions from Tim.
This is a repeat stay; the apartment is great and conveniently located and Tim is a great and very obliging host. We would definitely use it again for visiting grandparents!
Everything worked out incredibly well with this booking. Keys were available for my later arrival and the apartment was exactly as shown. The bed is super comfy and the shower is amazing. One unexpected find was the sweet community of Hydrostone about a 3 minutes walk away - gorgeous french patisserie, incredible olive oil tasting shop, and more. Also, TIm was very kind to let me have a work meeting in the apartment during one of the days of my stay (my colleagues who came over were mighty impressed too). Thank you, Tim!
This was our second stay in Tim and Colleen's beautiful flat. We had a wonderful Christmas week, visiting with our family in Halifax. The flat is lovely and spacious, lovely livingroom and kitchen. There is even a den with a tv, couch and work space. The location is ideal. Close to Hydrostone Market, and about 35 minute walk to downtown Halifax. Highly recommended.
Stellar place! Nice fully stocked kitchen, comfy bed, good location, and lovely shower. Lots of little additions like coffee and cream, a few extra toiletries, music library, list of neighbourhood restaurants and local tourism info. We immediately felt at home. A must stay place in Halifax!
Tim's accommodation was very welcoming and we felt right at home. Leading into our trip we had heard a few comments about the sketchiness of the neighbourhood, however it wasn't at all "sketchy" and it felt very safe. We were three minutes walking distance from the Hydrostone area and a thirty minute walk from downtown. The Hydrostone stretch had boutique shops and delicious restaurants. The North end really is an up and coming area. It was an $8-10 cab ride downtown.
Upon arrival we were welcomed warmly by Tim and Colleen, but the rest of our stay was very private, we hardly heard them downstairs.
They provided us with enough information that you could plan your trip upon arrival with no previous knowledge of the area. They clearly outlined house rules and made themselves available in case we had additional questions.
We loved their kitchen, it had everything imaginable and we enjoyed sitting in the living room listening to their sound system.
If you're a taller couple (or individual), the bed may be a bit short for you (as it was for us), but it was a quiet, comfortable room.
There is a beautiful deck accessible from the den, we didn't use it as it was a bit cool, but in the summer it would be fantastic to sit out on.
The shower was luxurious.
We would highly recommend this listing and would definitely come back.
A very spacious, well equipped apartment close to shops and restaurants. We chose to drive to the Halifax harbourfront which is a couple of kilometres away but there are buses nearby. Tim provided a very easy and flexible check in, check out process. We slept well as there was absolutely no noise at all. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.
