About this listing
Easy living as the apartment is a 5 minute drive from the 101 or 280 freeways and a 5 minute walk to everything you might need, including public transportation. This tiny part of the Mission is called "La Lengua" and is my favorite part of the city.
I have a master bedroom in a two bedroom apartment that can be rented on a temporary basis anywhere from a couple nights to a couple months or even longer, (please read all the way through this description before making a reservation request as it will answer many of your questions, thanks!). The room can be rented month-to-month as well as many people need a place to stay while searching for their permanent home after moving here. In fact, Redfin just voted it the "hottest neighborhood" in the US:
And Forbes said the Mission was the second "hippest" in the US:
It's probably lame to list those sites but at least you know there's something here for you between whatever "hot" and "hip" means. I hate both those descriptive words but oh well. :)
In the apartment there is one master bedroom, a second bedroom which is mine, one bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, the big outdoor patio, and a huge roof deck which has gorgeous views day or night, a bbq, foosball table, weight bench, exercise bike, and relaxing table and chairs.
The living room has an electric fireplace and a LCD projector with 8' x 6' movie screen which rolls down and back up when not in use. The kitchen has all the modern conveniences including marble countertops, (good for making pastries or baking), dishwasher, disposal, gas stove, microwave, Calphalon cookware, standing juice press, electric juicer with attachments to make yogurt, cheese, and nut milk, KitchenAide mixer, Vita-Mix blender (the model that makes hot soup and peanut butter), built-in wine rack, and anti-fatigue rugs that save your feet when standing for long times in the kitchen. It has everything one might need to make a gourmet meal.
The bath is finished in marble, has a pedestal sink, a deluge showerhead, and a marble bench in the shower in case you feel like taking a steam-bath.
The master bedroom is big and has a queen size bed, plenty of storage in the closet, bookcase, bureau, trunk, bedside tables, and a desk if needed. It has a big sliding glass door that opens onto a 15ft x 20ft garden patio with BBQ and fire-pit.
The apartment is about a 5 minute drive from either the 101 or 280 freeway and a 5 minute walk to grocery stores, a hardware store, fruit market, post office, UPS, St. Luke's hospital, museums, galleries, places for kids, all kinds of restaurants, a swimming pool, banks, clubs, underground places, a movie theater, fun dives, bike shop, pub, bookstores, parks, clothing stores, thrift shops, dry cleaner, UPS, and the library. In other words, everything is very close and convenient. I'm located right in the middle of the Mission, Noe Valley, and Bernal Heights in an area sometimes called "La Lengua." MUNI / Public transportation is half a block away on Mission Street or Valencia, BART is 5 blocks away, and the J Church street car is 2 blocks away. Downtown can be reached in about 30 minutes by public transportation. If you park west of my apartment you only have to move your car once a week for street cleaning; the rest is 2 hr parking or metered. There is a possibility that a garaged parking space will become available next month but I can't promise it to anyone yet and I might have a bike you'd be able to use while here.
I'm about a 30 minute walk to San Francisco General Hospital or a 10 minute bike ride and UCSF has free shuttles that go to all their other sites. That is the closest shuttle pickup just in case you're coming to SF for a fellowship or internship. (website hidden) and (website hidden) both have shuttle pickups only 3-4 blocks away in case you're here to work there in the valley for an internship or permanently, or if you want to use that service to get you down the peninsula, (for example, I believe they have a stop at Stanford/Palo Alto). Zip Car and City Car Share are both 2 blocks away in case you need a car while you're here. I believe they rent them hourly, daily, or for the weekend. I have a cat who is very friendly and sweet and mostly sleeps but if you're allergic this probably isn't the place for you.
Please email me with any questions you may have and I'll gladly answer them! Thanks for your interest and have a wonderful time wherever you decide to stay in SF!
PS: I listed formally a $25 dollar cleaning fee but the longer you stay, the more the cleaning fee will increase - at increments of $10/day until you reach $100. I just don't think you can do $25 dollars worth of cleaning damages after only two days (which is the minimum stay) so I thought I'd do it incrementally. We can work out the details when we talk. :)
*Please do not make a formal Reservation Request without emailing me first to inquire if the space is free. Sometimes I cannot get back to you within the 24hrs Airbnb requires us to because I work 12 hour days. Airbnb penalizes us if we do not get back to you in time and our Response Rate goes down. One last thing: I have my place priced at a comparedly low rate, especially with the private outdoor deck which hardly anyone has, so please don't ask me to go down lower unless you are staying for a long length of time. I do all the cleaning myself and have my own incredibly high housing payment to make, (that's San Francisco!), so it's priced as low as I can afford. That also means I get tons of responses since it is priced low so I'm grateful for your patience in my response time. Thanks so much and I hope you understand! :)
All community spaces within the apartment, (kitchen, deck, living room, bathroom, etc.,) as well as the roof deck.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as they prefer but always happy to help with easiest travel routes, public transportation tips, restaurant suggestions, etc. I know a lot of underground place, the best restaurants that you won't find on travel guides, holes in the wall places, SF Secrets! I'd love to tell you about them as the best things in life should be shared!
It's described in the main description, or check out many of the online travel descriptions for either the Mission, Noe Valley, Bernal Heights or La Lengua. I'd also love to tell you anything you like about my neighborhood. I live on a very friendly block where we all know each other and you'll meet smiling faces as you walk down it. Everyone is very nice and helpful so feel free to ask questions if I'm not immediately available. We often have barbeques on the block, especially if a major SF event is currently happening.
So easy! A main bus line is half a block away and a main street car line is three blocks away. BART is five blocks away. I have a bike or two if you need them. Ask me about discounted public transportation passes - the city offers them at the Powell Street Station on Market Street and also across the street depending on many days you'd liek - super easy to find and understand.
Other Things to Note
If you'd like to have another person or two stay with you, child or adult, tell me about them as I do have a 4" queensize foam mattress that they could sleep on in the living room, your room, or they could sleep on the couch in the living room. This would be available for an additional cost depending on your description of the person(s) and where they'd like to sleep and will not exceed $20 person/night.
Unfortunately, I'm allergic to smoke so I ask that you smoke only on the deck, thanks!
During the workweek please keep the noise down a bit between 10am and 9pm, later until midnight on the weekends.
It was great to stay with Tirzah, she was very nice even though we didint have a lot of time to talk ,my friend and i felt very comfortable so thank you :)
We enjoyed our stay at Tirzah's. The bedroom and living room were very comfortable, the decor was interesting and fun, and the large deck with lots of plants was a nice bonus. The neighborhood is quiet and nice and transit is easily accessible. We especially appreciated how well equipped the kitchen was as we made a lot of yummy Vietnamese food, and likewise I'm sure Tirzah appreciated our keeping the kitchen neat and clean. Tirzah herself is friendly and accomodating and her cats are cute and nice. We would stay again.
Staying at Tirzah's place was a very positive experience. She was very friendly and was happy to give suggestions on routes, things to see, where to eat, etc. Her apartment and the room were quite comfortable. The location was a big plus.
Tirzah is an extra friendly host, very sweet, a true San Francisco character. We had a good chat each night I stayed.
She was also very quick to respond to my booking request, which I greatly appreciated since I received response from none of the other requests I sent, and time was ticking.
The space is very clean with a huge deck filled with plants. The cats are quiet, friendly and adorable. The location is tucked away and charming but well connected. A J train ride to downtown is stunning with the view of Mission Dolores. Also, it is 0 minute walk from Goood Frikin' Chicken, where you can have the best chicken and pita bread in your life. Their name is no joke.
I would recommend this place to anybody who is looking to feel like a local and experience having a San Francisco roomie.
Tirzah was a most kind and friendly host. She was able to book me at the very last minute, and really communicated well with me regarding directions to her house. I would stay with her again in the future.
This was my first experience using airbnb and my first time ever to SF so I had few expectations but great hopes. I'm happy to say that the stay at Tirzah's was integral to how much I enjoyed the city and the bay. The apartment was cosy, my room was clean, inviting and lovely to be in; the kitchen, bathroom and living area were very clean and quirky. Tirzah's advice and conversations were spot-on, always. The apartment is in a great location for a first-timer who would prefer to eschew the Union Square/Downtown hustle. I loved being in the Mission District and found that getting around was easy by public transport and good ol' walking. Thank you so much, Tirzah. One day I'll be back!

About the Host, Tirzah
I'm originally from Santa Fe, NM and after I came out to California for school I stayed because I fell in love with the Bay Area. I love to travel, read, bike, swim, surf, garden - most anything as long as it's outside. I'm very easy-going and I've been having guests since 2003 and will keep it up as long as I keep meeting great people from all over the world.
I hope you have a great time wherever you decide to stay in SF!
