The space

This raw, open concept, loft/studio unit has loads of character and is a unique rental option in a central part of the city. The heritage building complex is made up of an eclectic mix of artists, musicians, woodworkers, designers, small businesses, etc. The unit itself has 13 ft. high ceilings, a wall of exposed brick, painted hardwood floors, and two large west facing windows that provide really nice light throughout the day. Simple, designer furnishings give the space a minimalist feel with lots of room to move around. The sleeping area is tucked away on one end of the unit with a nice, comfortable queen bed. The bathroom has a raised shower, rough concrete floors, and includes a washer (with the dryer in another part of the unit). A small, clean kitchen area with full fridge and electric appliances only (convection oven, hot plate, kettle, electric skillet, microwave - no full oven/stove). There is dedicated wireless internet for the unit.

It's a convenient area of the city to access - very close to 24 hour public transit (King and Bathurst streetcars) and if driving, a short exit off the Gardiner Expressway or Lakeshore Blvd. Daily street pay parking and overnight permits available for those with vehicles. Accessibility note: there is no elevator service and it's a fourth floor walk-up.

I stayed at Dans place for about 4 days with my friend for a conference. Dan was easy to reach and available for questions at all times. Pros - Building seems somewhat secure - 20 min walk to CN tower area (however 40+ min to Eaton centre) - Room lights up nicely during the daytime Cons - building was old, stairs creak, graffiti in the hallways - I don't think the elevators work so you have to take the stairs - Blanket had yellow stains - Bathroom door has a sliding door (not necessarily a problem if you're okay with it not locking) - The front door got stuck and would not open so we were locked out until we had to physically lift the door for it to open - Lights flicker when you do laundry

We stayed at Dan's place during the TIFF 2016. Delightful experience. Super easy check in/out. Really sweet space. Amazing, comfortable place to wind down after long days of exploring Toronto! Will be back.

When arriving, we weren't too sure what we were getting into. The building is quite old, has a smell to it, and had a bit of graffiti inside in the hallways, and the flooring was not level.. however, the apartment itself is in good condition and the owner is quite responsive to questions. The windows provide beautiful views of the sunset in the evening and give the place a great feel to it. All neighbours are friendly and the location is close to town and the waterfront.

A great studio in a great location. We were within walking distance of everywhere we visited in downtown Toronto. The immediate area is a great place to hangout. The apartment was very tasteful, clean and comfortable, and great to hangout in it's own right. A very enjoyable stay indeed!!!

Check-In modalities where simple and right to the point, Dan was just providing all the information needed. The place is certainly unique, if you don't own a loft yourself, you probably have never stayed in such a cool apartment. Lots of it is DIY build what gives the charm, but everything works fine. I definitely recommend staying there and Dan as a host who was friendly and helpful.

We stayed at Dan's place for 6 nights. Location was great, close to busy streets and restaurants, 20' walk from Union Station and walking distance from downtown Toronto. Dan was flexible with the check in and out, getting the keys and giving them back was easy. the place was very clean and even the AC was on when we arrived (it was quite hot outside so we were really glad). We would go back to Dan's for sure. Ahh! The bed was really comfortable too.

I had a great stay in Dan's flat. It was well located being walking distance from downtown, the lake shore and from Queen Street. I felt totally safe walking around the area at night. The flat was comfortable and Dan made sure the AC was on for when I arrived. Good bathroom and shower. Dan made sure I was ok during my stay and the arrangements for arrival were straight forward. Thanks! Mark
