This house is like being in the country—but very close to all the cool/fun stuff in Echo Park. It has has tons of charm, and lots of light.
The house was recently featured in the New York Times Home & Garden section.
Sit on the patio and have a glass of wine, enjoy the view of the Hollywood sign (and the ocean if theres no smog), grab a lemon, lime, grapefruit or orange off one of the trees, pick some herbs from the garden, grill something on the bbq and enjoy the splendor of this renovated 1909 cottage!
The house is used only for Airbnb rental, I don't live in it - so there's none of my personal stuff (which I sometimes find a little weird when I stay in other people's homes!)
The master bedroom has a ridiculously comfortable pillow-top queen bed and A/C.
The living room has a newly installed and brand new A/C unit.
The second bedroom has an incredible view of the Elysian Valley, and comes with 2 twin beds (or they can be pushed together to bed a king bed).
Sheets, towels, dishes, cookware and all necessary odds and ends supplied. Closet and dresser space also available to hang and put stuff.
The kitchen with original tile from the 20's and a refurbished O'Keefe & Merritt stove has all the necessities - fridge, toaster, coffee maker and good cookware.
Free wifi, flatscreen HDTV, cable, Apple TV and DVD in living room.
The house is 1 mile from Sunset Blvd. a 15-min walk to Elysian Park (home of Dodger Stadium), and there are lots of great restaurants, shops, bars and cafes nearby including Red Hill, The Fix, Sage, Mohawk Bend, Elf, Taix, Two Boots Pizza, and The Echo.
Downtown is 5 minutes away by car, and the 2, 5, 101 and 110 freeways are all very close. Burbank is 15 mins, and against rush hour traffic.
I live on the property in the house next door and am available for any questions about where to go or what to do in the neighborhood. My dog, Whisky (small, 14 pounds, adorable), is on hand to make your stay all the more pleasant!
Pet friendly with prior approval.
Access to the front patio and garden (with fresh herbs and vegetables), access to any of the fruit trees (lime, lemon, grapefruit, persimmon, kumquat, orange - all seasonal).
I'm usually around and available for questions and always glad to help advise on places to eat, or things to do. Sometimes I share a glass of wine with guests, other times I just stay out of their hair if they want privacy!
Echo Park is a very unexpected LA neighborhood - lots of hills (including Baxter, the steepest street in LA) and great views. It's very unlike the stereotype of LA (Sunset Strip) and yet it's very close to great cafes, restaurants and night life.

This was a lovely house for our time in LA. Echo Park has a great neighbourhood feel and provides easy access to Hollywood and Downtown. The house had an incredible view and provided us with a comfy oasis to go back to after a hectic schedule of sightseeing and shopping. We also enjoyed Whisky the dog who would come and say hello to us every morning. Dan the host was helpful and provided us with some great recommendations. Two thumbs way up!
Amazing property, excellent location and Dan our host was super friendly and accomodating. One of the best airbnb experiences I've had. Will be hard to stay anywhere else next time I visit LA.
Dan's home is even more lovely than pictured. It is incredibly clean, comfortable and spacious. It has everything you would possibly need for a short or a long stay. My husband and I stayed for three nights while we were visiting family in Los Angeles and the location was perfect and really, a beautiful spot to return to at the end of the day. The neighborhood has plenty of nice restaurants, shops, and groceries as well.
Communication with Dan was really simple and he is a very pleasant, accommodating host. He had no problem allowing us to have a few people over for a bbq and even though you have your own private, beautiful outdoor space, he will allow you to use his back yard if he is not home. The tiered yard is impeccable and beautifully landscaped. Super peaceful and well thought out. It is clear a lot of thought went in to designing both the indoor and outdoor space.
Seemed like Dan would be as hands on as you needed him to be but also allowed for privacy if you didn't. He also has a really adorable, well behaved and sweet small dog, Whiskey that will visit every so often.
By far, a better value and experience than staying at any hotel I wish I could move his place to Brooklyn and live in it! It's amazing and we will not hesitate to book again next time we are in town.
Dan's place is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. Such a great space with stylish touches and amazing views of Los Angeles. The beds are awesome. Dan was super laid back and accommodating -- really excellent host who made us feel very at home. And we love his little dog Whiskey!
When I'm back in LA, I hope I can stay here again.
Loved the place! Nice interior, great views and very comfortable. Dan was a great host, as was his dog Whiskey who came by to say hi! Highly recommend.
We had a great stay at Dan's place. The house is very pretty, with all the necessary amenities and a lot of character, in a very picturesque and quiet neighbourhood. It's very conveniently located when you want to visit LA, only minutes from W Sunset and several freeways. Dan was a great host, very responsive and helpful when needed. We would definitely go back.
We booked a 2 week family holiday in Dan's house & had a great time.Lovely, immaculate & spacious it lies in a quiet neighbourhood with great views across the valley towards the Hollywood sign - a perfect base from which to explore L.A. with a young-ish family (Whisky the dog was a big hit with the girls!).Plenty of fine restaurants in the area.
Dan was a great host - there when we had a question & totally discreet otherwise.
We'd go back in a flash!
Wow, what a place! It was better than expected (and we expected a lot). Super clean and stylish. Great location with many great restaurants around. Parking was super easy and everything worked as expected. Dan is the mot amazing host, super friendly and so helpful. We're really want to go back to LA some time and we'll definitely book this place again.
Dan's place is truly as advertised--a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle on the top of a lovely ridge overlooking the city. The cool evening breezes blow through the rooms, which are tastefully and very simply decorated. It is very clean and bright throughout. Dan is a very helpful and generous host. He left us a nice bottle of wine and encouraged us to enjoy his outdoor herb and tomato plants, which we did one night when we cooked in. We hope to come back some day!
Dan was an amazing host! His sunny Echo Park home was perfect for our stay in LA. The place was beautiful, super comfortable, and in an awesome location. Just a short run/walk to the amazing new Echo Park Lake, walking distance to some cool coffee/breakfast spots and shopping. The views of downtown, Century City, and Hollywood hills from the front porch were amazing. It felt like a little escape within the city. Dan was easy to communicate with, super friendly and accommodating, and he has the best dog named Whiskey who started off our day with a smile once you stepped outside :) Thanks for the amazing stay, Dan! Your listing is awesome!
