The space
The Wings Neck Lighthouse is an incredibly unique and historic property - completely renovated and now available for an unforgettable vacation. Formerly a US Coast Guard Lighthouse, the light tower still stands attached by a breezeway to a fully functional three bedroom keepers home. Guests can climb the mahogany spiral staircase and view the Atlantic from the lantern room, read about the history of the lighthouse and explore the rocky slopes around the property.

Located at the tip of Wings Neck Point, the house has one of the most fabulous views of the Atlantic Ocean ever experienced. Situated a few feet from the water, the vistas are beautiful and traditionally New England. Exploring the rocks and the shore in front of the house is always a guest favorite.

The attached house is completely updated yet still maintains its historic charm. Once inside the entry way, the first floor consists of a living room with fieldstone fireplace which is open to a large eat-in kitchen. The kitchen also has a center island with breakfast bar. A comfortable family room has twin sofas (one pullout) and the TV/entertainment center. There are sleeping accommodations for eight. The house has three upstairs bedrooms (1 King, 1 King, 1 twin set) and a pullout Queen sofa in the family room. There is a full bath upstairs, a half-bath downstairs and an outdoor shower. Laundry is on the first floor. The kitchen has every amenity including dishwasher, microwave and lobster pot.

If you are looking to expand your group, there is a a small cottage across the street that is also available to rent. This cute Cape Cod cottage sleeps five.

A private entrance makes the property available only to residents and their guests. There is a private beach for residents only. The house has spectacular water views from every window in every room. Because of the proximity to the Cape Cod Canal, interesting and unusual vistas of shipping and boating traffic are seen daily. The property faces West and enjoys a rare view of the sunset over the water nightly. Many of our guest have reported life changing moments when they experience the peace, beauty and serenity of this special property.

Wings Neck Point maintains a private beach for residents but there are many other beaches worth visiting within a short drive. The small town of Pocasset is approximately three miles and has a few restaurants and convenience stores. Nearby Falmouth and Sandwich offer all the excitement of Cape Cod - beaches, shopping, sightseeing, great restaurants, history and the ferry to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

Some History:
Wings Neck Light was built in 1849 because of heavy marine traffic traveling in Buzzards Bay to ports in Wareham and Sandwich. When the Cape Cod Canal opened in 1914, Wings Neck Light assumed its real importance for a number of years. The first lighthouse at Wings Neck was a Cape Cod-style lightkeepers house with a lantern placed on the roof. In 1889, damage from an earlier fire and general disrepair forced the construction of a new lighthouse. The present keepers house, with its attached hexagonal wooden tower, was built to replace the old Cape Cod-style house. For many years, Wings Neck was deemed one of the most important lighthouses on the Atlantic Coast because of the heavy shipping traveling the Cape Cod Canal but, by 1943, newer technology was making the lighthouse obsolete. The property was sold by the government in 1947 to Frank and Irene Flanagan. They loved the property with a passion and enjoyed a long retirement there until Irene passed on in 1999. The property was completely renovated in 2003 and is now available for rent.

Guest access
The Keepers Home attached to the lighthouse is your home for the duration of your stay. The lighthouse is attached to the house and guests have open access to go up and down the tower. The house is situated on 2 acres of land and has deeded rights to a private beach just 100 yards away.

Other things to note
Please note that linens are not included. We can suggest companies that will rent them to you.

There is a very cute Cape Cod cottage across the street that is also available to rent for larger groups or extended family.

Massachusetts native and Mom of four. This property has been in my family for many years. Cape Cod is one of my favorite places and what I love most about managing this property is answering questions about the local area and helping people plan a fabulous vacation.
