About this listing
A cozy room in a lovely house in the best part of NE Portland? Filled with books, tea, and nice people? What more could you *possibly* want?
This great private room is located within a quiet home on a residential street. I live half a block from the lovely Kennedy School, home to restaurants, bars, a movie theater, and outdoor soaking pool. Also, just a half block away, is a New Seasons, a wonderful local place to buy all the groceries you need. It even has a deli. Just a short walk will put you on Alberta, with restaurants (breakfast, lunch, & dinner), bars, co-op, coffee & tea, food carts, and art galleries. There are several lovely parks within walking distance that will provide you with places to jog or relax.
My home is accessible by 4 bus lines: seventy, seventy-two, seventy-five, & seventeen (which will easily get you to downtown, North Portland, and South East). I also live very close to the airport, and it is quite easy to make that trip with public transport. There is ample and easy on-street parking, as well as a safe place to put your bikes.
Within the house you'll also have access to a full kitchen, bathroom with tub and shower, & living room with a dining table. The house itself is filled with art, musical instruments, books, games, & other rad stuff. I also have a wonderful backyard with a deck, fire pit, many garden boxes filled with seasonal veggies, & fruit trees/plants (grapes, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, marionberries).
Your rented room is furnished with a dresser, a closet, and bed. A queen sized bed! With the most comfortable memory foam mattress on earth. You are also welcome to use the HIGH SPEED INTERNET and laundry (I have a clothesline for when the weather is nice). Your room also comes with its own coffee maker. There's even a drum set or two in the basement. :D

Feeling at home is very important. So allow me to tell you about a few of the house rules:
-Dishes are to be cleaned promptly
-If you make a mess, clean up after yourself
-Mellow after 10pm
-Doors locked at night
-Lights off when not in use
-Be nice & have fun
-No drugs in the house
-Sorry, but my space does not accommodate children or pets.
Write a postcard to your best friend about how awesome this room is! Plus a "Take A Book, Leave A Book"! (It's hard to see, but there are *totally* roses right outside that window)
Staying at Nate's place was rejuvenating. The house has a relaxed and inviting character to it with an outdoor area at the back that is great to just chill out in. The room itself is just pictured and very clean and well later out. There is ample room if you wanted to really unpack and have an extended stay without feeling cramped. My favourite spot was either in the reading chair or at the writing desk. Nate has the house well laid out with space made available in each area for your stuff which makes settling in a breeze. Both Nate and his current room mate where very easy to talk to and we would often hangout as if we had been friends for years. The area is very well located with shops, bars and transport all within minutes walk which was very convenient. I highly recommend a stay with Nate and the Yellow room.
The room was a home from home :) really comfortable and cozy, and there were some really nice touches - a coffee machine, a book swap, some good city maps. The house was beautiful and clean and Nate was so welcoming, we really could have spent a lot longer there! We spent quite a bit of time near Alberta Street which is close to the house, where there were tonnes of great bars and restaurants, but it was also pretty easy to get into town by bus. Highly recommended!
The house is fantastic, and a great jumping off point to explore Alberta street. Nate and his housemate made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this room!
Loved my stay here! Nate and Sarah are such friendly, welcoming, interesting hosts, and everything about the house is great: art, books, garden, neighborhood -- it's a really good space all around. The yellow room is just as fabulously cheerful and comfortable as it looks. Thanks again!
Nate is as kinetic as the energy in his home. Tidy, organized and calm and somewhat bustling with happy voices during the day. His home is filled with the sort of eclectic art and style you would expect from the Alberta District. Loved it!
This was a great stay. Nate was awesome, communicative, and accomodating. The room was cheerful, clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend this listing, close to wonderful restaurants and a great grocery!
I felt at home as soon as I opened the door. Nate is such a friendly guy and one of the best hosts I've met. I definitely recommend this listing to anyone!
