The Art Villa in Ubud, is an amazing place!
My wife and I stayed for 6 nights, and it was just fantastic. We traveled with our 12 month old girl and the family staff, Wayan and Bruce all welcomed us with soo much kindness and warmth.
The room was nice with an awesome outdoor bathroom and the common surroundings were superb! The pool is really great and the view is breathtaking, especially when there are no clouds and you can see the vulcano.
An other really wonderful thing, is the food! Some of the best in Ubud!!! :)
The neighbourhood is tranquil and there are some nice organic shops and restaurants.
It is a 15-20 min walk to the centre og Ubud, wich is fine.
I must say, that You most likely will hear the roosters early in the morning. It woke me up the first morning, but after that I didn't really mind. The frog "koncert" in the evening and fireflies was fun, and just another part of the nature, you will be a part of, when visiting Ubud.
Beside that, we had some nice chats, with the other guests staying at the villa, over breakfast. All really friendly! There just was a good wibe and "homely" feeling at the villa.
In all, I can only recommend this little place! I hope, to return some day :)
I made this booking for my parents, who came to visit me from the states. Unfortunately when I was checking my parents in, the staff seemed very confused, they had the wrong dates for the booking. Fortunately there was another room for them to sleep in the first night, however it was a little annoying to have to move rooms. Here is their review:
My husband and I spent six nights at Ubud Art Villas; we enjoyed the stay very much. The staff became like family to us; they were efficient and hospitable. The villas are in a good location but it was also quiet and serene. The pool overlooks a view of this hills and other villas. We ate all our breakfasts there and had good eggs and toast western style as well as Indonesian specialties such as the green pancake with coconut and palm syrup. At meals we all sat at a large table and talked with other guests. My only complaint is that the tiles in the bathroom were very slick - we are a bit older and concerned about falling.
Me, my husband and our two kids (1 year and 4 years old) travelled trough Bali for one month i April. One of the highlights of our stay was staying at Ubud Artvilla for one week. It is a beautiful place with the most wonderful staff. They were all very helpful when we wanted to go sightseeing and they were very kind with our children. Often we just stayed at the house relaxing, swimming in the beautiful swimming pool and enjoying good food (the staff are excellent cocks). Our room (spacious) was perfect for us because the bed was plenty big for the 4 of us. We LOVED staying there, and we will definitely come back.
Our stay at the art villa was one of the high lights of our trip to Asia. Amazing rooms, setting and pool; great boutique feel. Location is great as it is outside of the surprisingly busy town centre, but close enough to walk in. Our hosts, Wayan and his wife, were incredible. We were at the villa for Nyepi (Balian New Years), a day of "silence" during which no one is allowed out on the streets. Wayan and his family stayed at the villa and cooked large communal meals for everyone staying there. It was a fantastic experience. Oh, and they serve possibly the best free breakfast I've ever had - three courses, with options ranging from fruit salad and honey and banana pancakes to scrambled eggs on toast and more traditional Balian dishes (congee-type pudding and some kind of green pancakes filled with cane sugar - delicious!).
Can't say enough good things about Wayan and his staff; what an amazing host. If you stay at the villa get Wayan to take you on his cultural tour of the centre/north of the island. He is very knowledgeable and proud of the beauty and culture of the island and what it has to offer beyond the beaches, etc. of the south.
My friend and I visited Ubud ArtVilla in Feb 2013 for a 10 day stay. Little did we know what an amazing experience it would be! Bruce was friendly and so great at answering all of our queries in the lead up to the trip. We were met at the airport and driven directly to the Villa where we were gobsmacked by the peaceful beauty of the place - it was BETTER than the photos! (That is so rare!) Bruce's partner Wayan greeted us with a super friendly smile and we felt instantly at home. Our room was immaculate, and beautifully presented, with a HUGE king size bed, tropical indoor/outdoor bathroom, view of the rice fields and gorgeous little touches that showed the care and attention to detail that the Villa staff take in absolutely everything they do. Wayan and his staff were INCREDIBLE. We were always greeted with a lovely smile and help and travel tips were always there if we needed anything at all. Wayan took us on lots of little adventures to show us the real Ubud from his perspective. I feel like we really saw the real Bali thanks to him. The centre of town was only a short walk away from the Villa which was great and easy for exploring. We were greeted back at the Villa after each day out with tropical juices and lots of laughter and smiles by the amazing Villa staff and spent our afternoons and evenings splashing around in the stunning infinity pool and watching the sunset. I am not even exaggerating when I say it was like a dream! We ate a lot of our meals at the Villa, each lovingly prepared from scratch. On top of all of this dreamy luxury and stellar treatment I think the thing that stuck with me the most was the kindness, generosity and friendliness of Bruce, Wayan and all of the staff. They made me feel like I was living in a family home and not a hotel. I felt so welcomed there and comfortable. I think this is what makes the Villa stand out from anywhere I have ever stayed. I would definitely recommend the Villa to anyone wishing to experience Bali in a truly unique and special way. I can't wait to go back!
Thank you Bruce, Wayan, and everyone at the Villa for a trip I will never forget!
Staying at Ubud Art Villa was the highlight of our recent trip to Bali in December 2012. Bruce and Wayan were warm and generous hosts who have created a relaxing, beautiful and unique space. Compared to the many other places we have stayed (we have travelled extensively), they made an extra effort to ensure our stay was comfortable, and to get to know us, but not at all in an intrusive way. The other staff were friendly and helpful too.
One of the the things we particularly liked about the villa was the thoughtful design of space and the amazing aesthetic, including Bruce's lovely ceramic pieces.
The villa is in a great spot as it is away from the increasing busy-ness of the town centre, but close enough to access it easily by walking/bike/scooter. Make sure you wander the car and bike-free pathways in behind the villa, which wind through rice fields, hidden cafes, and a great yoga studio.
If you are seeking a place that is relaxing, refined, and with a special atmosphere, we could not recommend it highly enough.
We could not have asked for more from our stay at the ArtVilla. The villa itself is the stuff dreams are made of. It is a zen, magnificent spot located on an elevated piece of land that's awash with tropical trees and flowers. As for Bruce and Wayan, we felt very lucky to have two such caring hosts who enabled and assisted with any request. I cannot recommend a visit here more. You'll love it.
Overall great stay! Accommodation was kept really clean throughout our stay with daily cleaning/ changing of towels. Rooms were spacious, accurately represented in the photos. The pool is also cleaned on a regular basis. Wayan has been a great host, arranging the best massage we had in Bali! The only drawback is the weak water pressure in the showers, however this is common for 90% of the accommodations in Bali (and I have been to at least 10 different properties on the island!). This definitely did not change our view of ArtVilla being an excellent choice!
Thanks to the team for making us feel at home.
Lovely room with a private little patio and openair bathroom. The villa itself is nicely decorated and well situated. Great pool and nice communal areas - a good feel to it. Wayan, the manager, couldn't be more friendly and helpful. He organised a motor bike and also booked us onto a fantastic white water rafting trip. He is completely committed to making your stay and happy and comfortable one. The rest of the staff are lovely too and the girls produce some delicious food at excellent prices.
Unfortunately we had some problems with the hot water not working. Wayan responded immediately and did everything he could but it was intermittent and lacking pressure. We know they have taken this problem on board and are trying to sort it out so it shouldn't prevent anyone from booking.
Our sister joined us and stayed in a couple of the other rooms. The upstairs room is gorgeous and had fabulous views. It's by far the best choice in the villa. The luxurious bathroom boasts an enormous bath tub and was one of the reasons we booked the room but with the pressure as it was, it was impossible to fill it and have a bath. The second room had a bathroom window overlooking the road and she found it a bit noisy and lacking privacy.
