Very cool view out of the giant window. Lovely to wake up to. Quiet and private.
We loved this place so much, by the second day we checked AirBnB to see if we could extend it a day; a few quick texts (our hosts graciously rescheduled housecleaning), and it was a done deal! This was one of the best vacation bases I've ever had.
Gorgeous view (the entire place is SILVER in early morning light), the creek access is for all intents and purposes private (neighbors' fences/opposite bank/creek bend are natural boundaries), and the open lofted setup makes it intimate and woodsy while still being modern and comfortable. There's just enough decoration to add character (the movable privacy screen is a nice touch) without the worrying sensation that you'll break a museum piece.
Cynthia has literally thought of everything you haven't--matches, roasting skewer, fluffy blankets, hairdryer, candles, washer/dryer, all types of soaps. Even cooking fairly extensively, you'll only need the food itself and firewood, maybe a couple of cooking staples...the kitchen is very well stocked.
It's a reasonably close drive to a town with a full gas station/supermarket/restaurants, and there's a small convenience store even closer if you're feeling lazy. Our original goal was Big Basin, but there's plenty of other parks nearby too.
House rules/check in & out are short, reasonable, and clearly posted.
And for all you techy types, the internet connection is exceptional--you shouldn't need it much, but on the off chance you do, it's awesome.
We'll definitely look this place up again when we're back in the area!
The cabin is spacious and comfortable. We especially love the little stream running in the backyard. Is been a wonderful two days for us.
Cabin was great! Quentin and Cynthia seemed to be attentive although we never needed them on our 3 night stay. Peaceful little place and we loved the layout/look of the cabin!
Beautiful pristine home. Comfortable beds. Amazing Scenery. I especially loved the heating lamps in the bathroom and shower. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
I stayed at Cynthia's cottage for a rare weekend off work. It was incredibly relaxing to sit on the back porch while sipping coffee (bring your own ground beans) and staring out at the stream. The upstairs bed was comfortable and the house was very clean.
Bring your own staples if you plan to cook (olive oil, butter, spices). Cynthia has all the pots, pans and supplies one would need.
It's not as remote as the photos appear but you still feel immersed in nature.
The TV is tiny and the volume is unbelievably low. My laptop has a larger screen. I also had to move the TV closer to the couch to hear the movie. But honestly, who needs TV with a view like Cynthia's?
My family and I had a lovely time at this cottage! Although it is not as secluded and feels smaller than the photos suggest, it is such an awesome cabin with the nicest porch deck to sit at and look out over the creek down below. Located in a good spot really close to the Henry Cowell state park which is gorgeous and a short drive to Santa Cruz. I would definitely stay here again!
We had a lovely stay (5 nights). Very quiet and clean. Babbling stream outside the back porch. GREAT location. Thanks!
This is a unique space. The kids loved being in the woods and having access to the stream. It’s a bit off the beaten path, so stop first to get groceries and bring trash bags.
Great place to wind down and go hiking.
I would love to go back and stay for a longer period of time.
