Very nice experience overall. Amazing terrace, beautiful views and nice simple rooms. Quiet part of town on the far north side of the malecon. It was great to have a coffee maker and full kitchen to prepare meals. Quick jaunt to the beach. In regards to other reviews...yes most neighborhoods in lapaz come equipped with noisy dogs. This place is no exception, with earplugs this was a non-issue though. We also did not end up in the exact room we reserved...they are all pretty nice though. Just don't be surprised if you are in #1 instead of #5. ** It seems as though there are two places with this address within a couple blocks of eachother- get the cross streets from the host and make clear and detailed plans with him in advance. He is easy to talk to but happened to be unavailable when we had last minute questions.** Overall would reccommend, especially if you plan to fish and want a fun terrace to grill on!
Please see Dianne's review from December 2015, she wrote a very accurate evaluation, which is also a fair assessment of my February 2016 stay. Overall, the experience was excellent, the apartment (#5) has a beautiful view and was very comfortable. If you are a light sleeper, note that the neighbor's dog barks at night, and his rooster crows at and before daybreak. I would definitely stay here again, I absolutely LOVED the rooftop patio, we brought a blender up and barbequed on the rooftop. Great view!
A beautiful traditional house in a great neighbourhood close to the seafront. The rooftop terrace is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy panoramic views of the coast and hills of La Paz -sunsets were especially beautiful. The house is very simple. This is part of its charm. But it does lack some of the items that people doing Air Bnb might expect -eg extensive cooking tools or things to wash up with. However if you're mostly eating out at the numerous delicious restaurants nearby it's ideal. There are plenty of supermarkets and food shops close by. The directions weren't great -the map took us to a different place. Saulo wasn't very communicative before so we didn't have a lot of information to go on. overall a good place, ideal location to explore la Paz. We enjoyed our stay.
Experience old-world Mexican living in this small apartment situated on the third floor (walk-up) facing the ocean. It just one block from the Malecon seaside boardwalk. The traditional decor and furnishings plus the view from the front windows and balcony are wonderful. There is a bit of a musky smell coming from the kitchen but opening the windows and running the overhead fans minimizes the problem - we barely noticed it after a while. The host (Saulo) lives elsewhere, but the cleaning staff were on hand to give us the keys and show us the ropes. The apartment was clean and nicely equipped with Internet, A/C, microwave, 2 TVs with even some fruit and bottled water thrown in. There is a washing machine available in the courtyard. There is a charcoal grill available on the rooftop with amazing 360 views of La Paz. The only issue we had was that the neighbor's dog barks loudly at night so sleeping was a bit of a problem at times. Ear plugs might be helpful. There are lots of restaurants and a decent grocery store in walking distance so going car-less is quite feasible. Thanks Saulo for a great experience.
Each apartment in the building is different. I am reviewing apartment 5 which is on the top floor in the front with a fabulous sea view. This is the apartment I recommend if you stay in this airbnb. I think it is by far the best. There is also a beautiful roof top terrace with views all around. I stayed in the apartment for 11 nights. The apartment has its excellent features, such as the views--and things which could be improved upon. The bed is a double and very comfortable. The shower is hot and dependable. The location is at the north end of town and worked well for me with a bicycle or if you have a car. Without those you may feel that you are walking all day back and forth to where most of the action is. The apartment was clean. The downside was that there is little attention to detail. Small things are missing, such as dishsoap and sponge (brought when asked), the kitchen is poorly supplied with old teflon and aluminum cookware in odd sizes, there are two knives--one a small machete and the other a tiny paring knife, the table lamp will never work because the cord doesn't reach the outlet and there is no extension cord, the toilet seat cover appears to have cost $1. and is broken and slams down frequently, the kitchen drawer doesn't open much because it is blocked by the handle on the stove, the string from one of the fans is so short you have to drag a chair across the room to climb up and regulate it--silly things like that. So if you are a perfectionist this apartment could drive you nuts. But otherwise it is light and airy and the fans and aircon work well and are silent. The internet is good enough most of the time. The security is good if people keep the outside gate locked. I think if Saulo stayed a couple of nights in the apartment he could easily see all that needs to be done to make it more worthy of its price--which may cost a total of $30 to fix. He is in Mexico City, however, and you must deal with him by phone or email. The young woman who manages the property is sweet but untrained in dealing with foreigners and their needs and expectations and even though I speak adequate Spanish her soft voice and mumbling speech made her very difficult to understand and communicate with. To finish, once I got the little things sorted out I was happy in the apartment and La Paz is a wonderful city.
