The apartment is very well located and the room is quiet. Vanessa was away during most of my stay but she kept in touch to make sure everything was alright. She also woke up very early on a Sunday morning to open the door as I took a red-eye to come to NY...
I'll definitely reach out to her again when I come back to NY.

The location of the apartment is great for those who would like to explore Brooklyn and beyond (the G stop is on the same block as the flat). The area felt very safe, even in the later hours, as people frequent restaurants and bars in Greenpoint throughout the day. The apartment itself felt surprisingly quiet; it is so much more peaceful than most of Manhattan! Vanessa is nice and gives you a lot of privacy. One thing I would note is that there is a wall opening between the kitchen area and the bedroom. It's not a big deal, as Vanessa rarely spends any time in that section of the apartment, but just something that might not be very apparent from the pictures/listing. Overall, this is a very good option at the price.
Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to get to know Vanessa since she was not there when I arrived. But everything was perfectly arranged. She provided blankets and towels for me. Everything was clean and tidy. I loved staying at her place and I only can recommend it for other people who need a place in NYC.

I loved the location! So close to everything! This space is like most places I've seen in NYC- little :) but the desk and high speed wireless internet in the room was super helpful for me as as I needed that for work. I also was thankful for access to the back yard for doing my morning yoga practice. It was quite overgrown at this time though, but I didn't mind. Vanessa was friendly and helpful. I guess being from California I'm used to big spaces, so I couldn't do the little bed for more than a day or 2, but again I was very happy with proximity to everything!
I had a great stay at Vanessa's. It's a nice room in the heart of Greenpoint, just fine for 1 person and accessible to everything. I hardly spent any time there except to sleep. Vanessa was a great hostess and gave me all the privacy I needed (a pass-through to the kitchen would make the room less private but Vanessa gives you all the privacy you want). I would stay there again any time.
