The apartment was centrally located, and a quick walk to the beach. Some of the best restaurants in Lagos were just down the street. Comfortable bed, and just as pictured. The AC came in handy during the hot summer afternoons. Tip if you're coming from the bus station: take the route that goes along the water, and then approach from the main square. It's a lot easier than lugging luggage through the back streets (which was Google map's first recommendation).
Nice appartment, decorated with love. The location is very central but still not as loud as being in high street. You are just 5 minutes walk to all restaurants, promenade etc. The view from the balcony to the sea and beach is nice while you are having breakfast.
The appartement has everything you need but is a little bit old/shabby in some points ( kitchen, doors, windows) but the matrace/bed is good.
So if you are focusing on nice decoration, view and central location and not needing a very modern and renovated place than this is a good place to stay at Lagos.
One thing we found very weird.... Laura told us she probably wont be at the flat when we will arrive but will show up later. We should ring the bell at a neighbour and find the keys at the doormat.... Unfortunately no neighbour was there or willing to open so we stood there some minutes before someone came and let us in (after we explained who we are and what we want). We found the keys and started our vacation but we didn't see any host - neither Laura nor anybody else - for the complete 8 days.... Nobody showing up and asking if everything is Ok or if we need anything or anything else. Some might like it that anonymous but I think you also choose Airbnb to get in contact with locals to get some hints, tips, advices.... So a host not being seen within the whole timeframe of 8 days is kind of strange....
But the restaurant which was recommended beforehand by e-mail was very good!
All in all a nice place to stay.
Joanna and Laura were very communicative and helpful prior to my arrival in Lagos, Portugal. They gave me very concise and clear directions (plus a map!) which proved beneficial. The place itself is in a suberb location right at the peak of the old historic district. It can be a bit of a trek to make it there since its very hilly and cobbled terrain, but its worth it just for the view from the terrace. The apartment is spacious, with a living room and two bedrooms (one of which is the Masters and the secondary is for children). A great wrap-around terrace had 270 degree views of the city and the water. Warm during the day but very breezy at night (we went June) Very close to restaurants, bars, banks and cafes, and about a 10 minute walk to the Marina!
Apartment was nice and the location is very good too! Amazing view of the city from the rooftop!
The host on the other hand was disappointing.
Communication was an issue from the moment we arrived.
She left the keys to the apartment with a neighbour but did not inform us and no one was there to greet us. On our second day, servicemen showed up to replace the stove in the AM, we were not aware of that either. We didn't have hot water for a day and the host did not even bother replying to my messages...
Thank you very much for your review!
I usually take well bad reviews and try to improve our work with them. But in you case is just ridiculous. And I do have the messages to prove it!
First you sent me a message saying: I will be there tomorrow at 7.45pm.
We should arrive around 7:45 pm»
By this time, I was thinking about not accepting your booking.
I knew we had engineers visiting. But you sounded like you NEEDED HELP, needed a place to stay. So I sent this, a bit later on the same day of your message:
Sorry for my late reply.
I was wanting to check with our engineers and I got a confirmation now - they're going to replace the boiler tomorrow morning.
It is supposed to last the whole morning, starting around 10am.
I will leave it to you to see if you still want to book with us or find alternative accommodation.
At this point I do not understand how you could not be aware of the AM visit of servicemen. We are all speaking in english here, yeah?
It's fine, you can book the appt.
cNA you send me your full address and directions from the train station please?
I then sent you the contact of the person you would meet and that would help you in case there were any problems.
I know and trust my team.
I do not know nor trust you.
You then sent us a message at 1am demanding a technician to go check the boiler. It was explained to you, at 1am, how the new boiler works. Yes, you did spent one evening without hot water, because YOU MANAGED TO USE 80 LITERS of hot water. This was explained to you by message.
You were rude and arrogant.
My business and my team do not need people like you.
All the best,
The location was perfect! We were close to everything, including some excellent recommendations by our host. The large terrace and the view both made the apartment a unique find. There was a little mix up with the time to meet for the keys but we didn't wait long. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The place is even more beautiful than on the pictures. The flat is in a cozy calm street but very close to bakery (50 steps :), shops, restaurants and the main part of Lagos. And not to forget the bbq equipped terrace with ocean view!
We stayed 14 nights with our two kids and it was perfect holidays there for us. The kitchen etc. is properly equipped and we did not miss anything. One day we ran out of gas and it was fixed right within hours after we returned from the beach. Thanks for the super service. Definitely recommended.
Bonjour Joana ,
