We live 2 blocks away, so we can easily drop by to check in or help out if something comes up.
There are two grocery stores nearby on 15th Ave E, a QFC between E Republican St. and E Harrison St., and a Safeway at E Thomas St. There are a number of good restaurants nearby, with some of the highlights being Kingfish Café at 19th Ave E and E Mercer St., the Volunteer Park Café at 17th Ave E and E Galer St., and Smith near 15th Ave E and E Harrison St. For delicious baked goods, try Bakery Nouveau at 15th Ave E and E John St.
Some of the spots worth checking out nearby at the Arboretum which has a Japanese Garden and a wide range of plant and tree species, Interlaken Park which has some nice walking trails, and Volunteer Park which has an Asian Art Museum and the Volunteer Park Conservatory.
It takes about 40 minutes to walk downtown, or there are two bus lines that will take you there: the #10 bus goes along 15th Ave E before heading downtown, and the #12 bus goes along 19th Ave E before heading downtown.
Seattle has a new bike share system, the closest station is a few blocks away at 15th Ave and Harrison St. ((website hidden))
Free street parking is readily available across the street from the house.
There is no smoking inside or near the house.
We have a permanent tenant staying on the upper floor of the house (completely separate space, accessed from the front of the house) so we ask that you be respectful of her by keeping noise levels down after 10:00pm.
Please also avoid cooking after 10pm, as there is some coupling between the ventilation systems of the two units.
We had a great Time. The house was a bit smaller than expected, but well equiped and up to our needs. The neighboorhood is wonderful with some nice coffeeshops and Restaurants in walking distance. We would definitely stay there again
We brought our family of 4 to Seattle for the first time and were very happy with our stay in the Garden Suite! It had everything we needed - and more. Looking at the forecast, we were a little afraid of traveling during a mini heat wave and staying without air conditioning. Cameron dropped off a fan the day we arrived. How's that for service!?
Kitchen was great - outfitted with enough for us to have breakfast and then head out for our adventures. Neighborhood was quiet and friendly, with a great park (Volunteer Park) a few blocks away, which has a great little playground for kids as well as a wading pool for the warmer days.
I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a place in Seattle.
The place exceeded expectations! We were given a very thorough rundown of the neighborhood, how to get around, use the wifi, wash clothes, etc. Great experience!
What a sweet place. My kids and I were in town to visit my older daughter and loved having this little home to call ours for a week. The beds were very, very comfortable. Very. I had inquired earlier as to whether or not the house had a blender and Cameron had offered to drop off his own if we found that we didn't have what we needed when we got there (it turned out to have a blender there!). We would have liked the kitchen to be a little better appointed with things like baking dishes, aluminum foil, salt and pepper, etc. But we made due just fine, and I'm sure if I'd asked, Cameron would have stopped by with anything we needed. The bus system was easy and the location was perfect for us: an easy bus trip to anything we wanted to visit and only a 30 minute walk from my daughter's work at the NOAA facility by the canal. She stayed with us for the weekend and made use of Cameron's extra futon and bedding. The internet was a bit slow - not sure why. My daughter ended up tethering with her phone to do her online homework. But it wasn't a huge problem for the rest of us. We'd definitely stay again. Thanks, Cameron!
The listing was accurate. The host was responsive to our requests and questions. This rental is an outstanding value. Fantastic location in a quiet neighborhood but only a short walk to some nice restaurants, cafes and other shops. The Garden Suite was very well furnished and clean. Very nice to sit on the shady porch and have breakfast or whatever else. I highly recommend this rental, especially if you want to do a bit of your own cooking or are visiting Seattle with a family, it's much better and cheaper than staying at a hotel.
Quite and pretty neighborhood. Great launching pad for various parts of Seattle and environs. Apartment as advertised, perfect for our group of three. Many thanks!
Great place! We rented this apartment for my inlaws who were visiting from Spain for 2 weeks. They loved it. Kitchen looks out over back yard with huge windows.
Cameron lives close and responded very quickly to a minor issue with the washer.
Overall- this place is well worth the money and a great location!
About the Host, Cameron
I am an Electrical Engineer happily living in the Pacific Northwest. Most of my free time is spent outside, either riding my bike, rock climbing, skiing, or running. Seattle is a great place to live if you love the outdoors (as long as you don't mind getting a little wet every now and then), and I do my best to make the most of our beautiful surroundings.
