If your stay in Ubud is all about indulging in your very on slice of paradise, then Ani House is the place.
A private sanctuary that feels like a one villa resort. Set among tropical gardens with fish pond and framed by a tall traditional stone wall and bamboo fence you will find all that you have been looking for...
A nicely appointed villa with all the ingredients for a comfortable stay, a small Bale/daybed overlooking the private pool, two terraces looking into the lush garden that is lit up at night, a bathroom with bath tub and hot/cold shower, a massive king-size bed, a simple yet comfy lounge/living room with racked ceiling and carved wooden door that open out into the garden on two sides - plus a spacious kitchen with everything that you need to cater for yourself. There is no airconditioning, for three reasons, a) the house stays really cool with cross ventilation and the ceiling fans, b) it is better for the environment and c) it is so Bali to have fans.
However, you can walk to the local Warung for some of the best local food, dash into town within just a few scooter minutes (or drivers are available) or simply get anything your heart desires delivered to you and relax at home...
Ani House has a great spot to start your day with a stint of yoga, then cool off in the pool, chill out in the bale and simply succumb to the tranquility and slower pace here.... Time does go slower and it is easy to forget the date, day of the week or hours in the day...
If you want some night life, yoga classes, shopping, raw food cafes or good old exploring of down-town Ubud - it is just a few minutes away. Scooter hire, fresh coconut deliveries and tour drivers (including airport pick-up) are easily arranged - just ask.
Similarly, the housekeeper Ketut comes times per week to clean, make beds take any laundry and the like. She is available more often at your leisure and cost and can run errands for you, shop, cook and do your personal laundry too (returned the next day).
Just so you don't completely forget about the rest of the world, the fast wifi will allow you to stay in touch with home, work or whatever else needs attending while you laze away a few days (or longer) at your yummy pool villa in Bali.
The kitchen is well equipped, should you feel like doing some cooking or whipping up some fresh fruit smoothies - although most places in town will deliver - from fresh green juices to pizza, raw food to Mexican. And, the local Made's Warung, just 100 meters up the road is always a great place to drop into or have them deliver anything you need.
Ani House is set back from the road along a steep 100 meter gang past a couple of small rice fields, so does not offer direct car access, but is easily reached by scooter or on foot. There is of course help with luggage when you arrive and leave.
Overall, Ani House has been the perfect personal sanctuary to many visitors from couples, young families with babies, to retired couples in their 70's and folks wanting their solitude... And, of course is my home when I am not travelling for work or pleasure.
I love this place and I am sure you will too!
I look forward to hosting you at Ani House soon.
P.S. there is a few charming cats that live in the neighbourhood and are likely to visit. feed them and they will come again and again, don't feed them and their visits will be minimal. Shoo them away a few times and they will wait until you leave to visit again.
P.P.S. There are possum like creatures that come from time to time from the rice fields and river bush in search for goodies. if you hear them on the roof - don't be alarmed. It is rare that they come these days...
P.P.P.S. there are Geckos here and while they are cute and interesting when little (and love keeping the flies and mozzie population down) they can bite when they are REALLY big, so don't pick them up or pet them. Be assured, they will not eat you while you sleep.

A great little get away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Ubud, but still only a 5 minute scooter away. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very cute, clean and great to have our own pool. Erik was a fantastic host and organised our airport transfer, scooter hire and fresh coconut on arrival. Would recommend this as a great place to stay.
Erik was a fantastic host - he not only welcomed us to his beautiful home, he also shared so many useful tips about Ubud, places to visit, things to do, restaurants to eat at, etc. Having Erik as a host felt as if having a friend in town, who is there for you no matter what.
The villa itself exceeded my expectations - it is tastefully decorated, comfortable and, most importantly, entertains your ears and soul with the most beautiful sounds of the nature at night and early morning. It's further away from Ubud, hence, not really a walking distance, but if one is looking for a special place to be, this is one of them.
This place is beautiful - arguably even lovelier than the photos. The garden, the cats that come to visit, the sound of crickets and frogs in the evening, it all makes for a perfect getaway in Bali. Erik definitely did his best to make sure we felt welcome. You can also walk to a beautiful little restaurant down the street called Mades.
Heads up: It's about a 10 minute motorcyle ride into Ubud town. If you ride a motorcycle, great! We got one for $5 a day. If not, you might have trouble finding transport to/from the place from town, especially at night.
Great place, great location. Just far enough away from the noise and traffic of Ubud, and a lovely route into town when you want to go in. Made's Warung nearby became our regular hangout. The food's good and the owners & staff were very nice to us.
Erik was very pleasant to deal with and responsive when we had questions or requests. Ketut took good care of us Also, the motorbike we rented was in very good condition. So, I can recommend the villa without hesitation.
One caveat for parents, however. And this is no one's fault but our own. Erik warned us that there was no way to block access to the pool. However, we took a chance because the place looked so nice. Anyway, we ended up playing a LOT of defensive tackle trying to keep our wriggly little one-year-old from drowning himself. He was determined! And it was only possible to completely block access by shutting ourselve in inside, which you don't want to do when the weather's nice.
