This is a wonderful house in a spectacular location of looking the bay with a delightful and gracious host. The accommodations were excellent and very enjoyable. We enjoyed chatting with Maria over coffee each morning and walking to a nearby beach. This is a spot we will try to come back to.
Pt. Richmond is a great place to stay when visiting the Bay area. It's a quite escape from the city across the bay, well worth the trip out.
Maria served wonderful fruit and oatmeal in the mornings. We were there to visit granddaughter Zoe, age 6, in El Cerrito so our time in the house was limited. We had use of the main floor dining room, living room, and kitchen while our private bedrooms and bath were down a wooden spiral stair case. Our floor had a view out to a patio while the main floor had a view of the bay. It's a short half block walk from Maria's to a bench overlooking the bay and small beach.
Marie is a friendly host with three big dogs. Luna is the aged matriarch of the pack who likes her space. Scooter has reached the age where his name is a misnomer but he is a fine dog that likes attention. Bruno is an active pup of 4 months with huge pads for paws.
As you can see we were enchanted with the place even though finding it meant negotiating the designless hills and small streets of Pt. Richmond.
This is my first stay using Air B&B or any B&B so I don’t have a lot to compare to. I have however spent 20 years on the road in hotels. Since this is not a hotel and someone’s home I felt a little odd at first and was unsure of the way things worked. There are pro’s and cons to both but when doing a price/value/amenity comparison this place was an obvious choice over a local hotel room.
The bedroom and bathroom were well appointed and clean. The mini-fridge and electric kettle are also a nice touch.
There is no internet in the room so if you sleep and wake with your ipad this may be a problem for you. I looked at it as a healthy vacation from the internet. It is always available upstairs and outside the room if needed. That being said if you have ATT mobile, the service in the room is spotty too, again remedied by going outside or upstairs, I can't speak for the other carriers.
The City and Bridges view from upstairs runs the length of the house from the living room to the end of the kitchen so its pretty awesome, in addition there is a patio off the kitchen that provides the same view.
There is no view from the room however a sliding door allows access to a quiet garden and is a good place to relax and listen to the waves from the bay.
The house is about a 100 yrd walk to a small public access to the bay and I frequently enjoyed walking down to the water to watch the sunset and view of San Francisco. I rarely saw anyone there on weeknights but on weekend’s people fish along the shore. This access alone makes this property stand out.
Neighborhood walks were nice with a good array of architecture, and if you follow the street along the shoreline for about a mile you will get to Miller/Knox park where you can climb to the top of some hills and get a panoramic view of the area. Probably 3-5 miles depending on the route you take.
Maria was a kind and warm spirit to me, she made me feel welcome and we had many conversations as if we had known each other for years.
It takes a special person to open their home up to strangers and Maria is no exception, I was confident from the beginning that if any issues arose or if i needed anything that she would try to help out any way she could.
If your stay brings you to the San Francisco area and you want the neatest little town that is laid back, quiet and very picturesque, then you want to visit Point Richmond.
It is hard to believe that you are so close to San Francisco when you are here until you look up and see the Golden Gate bridge on the other side of the Bay and then San Francisco.
Maria is a great host and checks in on you all them time to see if you need anything. The suite is very private with a private bathroom.
I cannot recommend this location enough, it was a great time. This was my first AirBNB experience and it was a great one.
Thank you Maria!
It was a delight staying with Maria in her lovely home. I enjoyed my private suite with comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. The views from her home and deck are magnificent! I enjoyed my oatmeal and coffee, provided by Maria, while viewing SF and the Golden Gate Bridge! Maria was very helpful with sightseeing and restaurant suggestions. The road up the hill is steep and confusing but well worth it to meet the lovely host and enjoy her home & view. Thanks Maria!
I had the most pleasant experience with Maria!!! She is the definition of a great host. Maria made me feel welcome, gave me privacy when I wanted it, let me enjoy the amenities of her living room and kitchen, and even left me chocolate cake one evening.
There's a bench at the top of the street that overlooks the Bay Bridge, San Francisco, and the Golden Gate Bridge. I highly recommend you watch the sun rise and set from this magic bench.
11/10 would stay again.
I had a wonderful stay with Maria via Air BnB! She has a beautiful, modern style house in Point Richmond, overlooking the San Francisco Bay - a great start. Maria is a warm, charming host. Her house is spotlessly clean, two dogs who handle company like bellhops, and is beautifully decorated. The room is downstairs, very comfortable, with a walk out onto a patio, where there are lemon, orange, kiwi and other fruits growing. I had my own bathroom with access to a small refrigerator as well. This was a wonderful experience, far surpassing a hotel stay. I would recommend this location to anyone, and I will return, hopefully many more times.
