This entire house on this working farm is available all year except for a few weeks in the winter. Large grounds and pavilion. The house is located on a 500 acre farm and is very private. There may be hunters in the fields but it is very far from the house. Please ask if you want to access the fields . There are Large yards for outdoor use and plenty big enough for most activities. There are pastures for horses, cows, chicken runs, goat pens and kennels for dogs and barn cats roaming around.

The space
Very private get away that is part of a working farm. Cozy with a mix of new furniture and antiques. The décor leans to a outdoor/hunting theme. The house is large with spacious rooms.

The house is newly renovated with all modern conveniences. However, it is still 160 years old. The original heart pine floors are a bit creaky and the original doors are not perfect. It has two zone, heat and air, full-size washer and dryer, dishwasher, etc. Well stocked with many items you will need for a short stay. We have huge outdoor spaces. Mature landscaping surrounds the house.

The back deck has a very small hot tub (good for two people but I have seen four in there) and small 8' wide 2' deep, stock-tank pool. Subject to the time of the year, guests are welcome to use it.

There are five queen beds in three bedrooms. The family room has a futon and the living room has a queen pull-out sofa. Therefore, the house sleeps seven individually. Quality bed linen and bath towels are provided along with soap/shampoo. I keep the kitchen stocked with the basics (condiments/spices, etc) and suggest you take a look before shopping. I have quality knives, pots, pans and small appliances such as food processors and waffle makers for all your cooking needs. I have three sets of dishes for lare groups.

If you have more than five guests, I charge $25 per guest per night per person. Children over 5YO count as guests.

I have two very nice cots with mattresses that I can set up. I need 48 hour advanced notice for additional beds. Thanks for following this house rules. Any questions please call me.

There is a large fire pit in the backyard with plenty of chairs. Firewood is provided next to the shed but do not use if the wind is blowing more than 10 mph. There are two working gas fireplaces in the kitchen and living room. info will be provided prior to check-in. We have Wi-Fi through the satellite and download speeds are slower than cable. WiFi is limited the house and porch

Please note premium pricing ( plus $100 per night) in effect for NASCAR (fall and spring races), Firefly and federal holiday weekends. I collect this upon arrival.

Where you’ll be

Dover, Delaware, United States

Very rural but close to shopping. I know that sounds odd, but this area was sparred from development boom east of Route 1. Dover Downs is two miles away and close to Firefly and the festivals. The beach is 45 mins (Lewes) to an hour away (Rehoboth).Abundant wildlife.

Several great destinations in the area. Try the Biggs Museum or the DE Agricultural Museum. I really like the Dickinson Plantation. Bombay Hook NWR is close by. You can also travel to many of the great towns on the eastern shore of Maryland. Chestertown is an hour away and one of the best spots on the Chesapeake

The Delaware beach towns are a nice trip and very drivable. Many guests will stay here and visit the beaches.

Several of the states top rated restaurants are in town and Dover Downs is five mins away. It is the best casino in Delaware.

Plenty of fun things to do at the farm. Help us care for the animals up close and personal.

During your stay

I am happy to discuss outings and local attractions. Mostly, I try and give you your space and let you have fun. I try to take my cue from you if you want information. I grew up here and know the area well. I don't serve meals. It’s a lot to keep up at the farm so I can usually be found landscaping or caring for the animals. The animal caretaker (April) usually comes at 9:30 and will be working to 1 or 2. Once she is done her work, you can join her with the animals. I am often around working at the farm most days in the gardens or the fields. I am not usually up by the house, so you would have to call or text to catch up.
