Interaction with Guests
I live right upstairs if you need anything, and I'm always available, but once you check in you'll have the place to yourself.
Columbia Heights is a fantastic place to live and visit. Convenient to everything going on in DC, the Columbia Heights Metro stop is your easy link to downtown monuments and museums. You can walk to restaurants and bars just up 11th st. or enjoy the fountain and community vibe in the Columbia Heights center near the Tivoli Theater. U St. is a short walk to even more nightlife, restaurants, weekend flea markets, and even more shops. You'll really be in the middle of it all!
The metro Green/Yellow line is just a few blocks away, and is a short 5 stop trip down to the monuments and museums without having to change trains. About 30 minutes door to door. It couldn't be easier!
In addition I rent bikes on Spinlister. Just use your favorite search engine to find "profile/15341 on Spinlister"
Communication is the key, let me know what type of schedule you are going to be keeping and I'll be as accommodating as I can. I live here with my two dogs and my baker girlfriend in the floors above this apartment. I work weekends and she works weekdays but both of our schedules are very flexible. Once you're checked in you're free to come and go as you please, and use the shared laundry or hang out in the back yard by the koi pond. If you have any questions please ask, We love this place and think you will too...
Comfortable seating area with large coffee table, the sofa can be pulled out into a queen size bed.
Joel is an ace guy and such a welcoming soul. We were a couple of clueless British guys in dc and he had no trouble pointing us in the right direction no matter what time it was. The place is so chill, so much so that we spent so much more time than we should have done just hanging out, after speeding through the sites-to-see of course. The neighbour hood is good and it reminded me of where I lived when I was in college back in England.
Joel made us feel right at home and was very easy to communicate with before and during our stay. The rental was very close to downtown and was only a $8 uber ride.
The house is amazing. Joel is really a good designer. And he is also very friendly and nice.
First time Airbnb user. Ended up staying at Joel's after reading the reviews left behind by others who had stayed at his place. Suffice to say that the reviews where on the money !
Joel's place is centrally located in DC and a short taxi ride ( or a trains ride) to the sights that make DC a tourist haven. Lots of excellent eating joints within walking distance too .
As for the staying experience, suffice to say that the place was clean and extremely comfortable for my family of four. Linens and all the accoutrements that are a part of a decent hotel were provided by Joel. Add on an fully working pin ball machine and a truly one of its kind bath tub to everything else and you leave with the thought that if given the opportunity of visiting DC again, then, we would certainly be staying at Joel's.
Last words : if you are looking for a safe, clean place to stay in the heart of DC, look no further than Joel's place in Columbia heights!
This studio is very large and the only thing different from the photos is the carpet in the room is prettier now. Joel met us at the studio and gave us 2 keys & explained the basics, like how to make coffee with a French press! He left coffee for us to use and it was excellent! There were apples in the fridge, too. Hot & cold water dispenser was great to have. There's a full kitchen if you want to cook. There are so many really yummy places to eat that you could walk to which makes this an ideal location. Very close to U Street and shopping. The towels were plush and there were toiletries available in case we forgot something! The bathroom is the smallest space in the studio but the water pressure and shower head made up for it! He offered his washer/dryer for us to use. There are books & games around. The TV could be seen from almost everywhere we sat and great reception, too. The A/C during the hot month of August was a must and it delivered. There is a huge Mac computer for your use as well. Plenty of electrical outlets to charge all of our many electronics! The lights are on dimmers. Included in the studio are a set of drums and a guitar but the best and most fun was playing free pinball games on a classic pinball machine!! I could go on & on about how perfect this place was for us. The only drawback we could see is that there are a few stairs up & down to get to the place and the floor by the entrance has a slope into the drain that could be a problem if you have balance issues. Joel communicated with us to make sure all was well and we were happy. If Joel would have us, we would want to stay there next time we visit our daughter!!
This was a great experience. Comfortable & clean. Joel was welcoming & friendly (he was hanging out on the front porch fixing a friend's bike when we arrived). We were in town to see a band at the 9:30Club & Joel, (being the owner of the Cool Columbia Heights Apt.) was friends with the drummer, of course. The surrounding neighborhood feels safe & looks like it's going through a major economic boom. We wandered around all afternoon & enjoyed a couple of bars that Joel recommended. We walked to the club & back that night. No issues, no problems, just an overall good time!
Joel, was super helpful and responsive. The location in Columbia Heights was awesome. Close to everything including the metro. Place was super funky and cool.
Only downside for me is that I am over 6'2 and the ceiling was low for me as I had to bend down in certain places.
Overall thumbs up.
