The terrace of the ibiza house has a splendid view over the river Nile and the botanical gardens on the island across. The ferry boat runs very regularly and it takes you about 8 mins to walk thru the authentic and most friendly nubian community and village to get to this comfortable place. The house is nicely decorated, lots of space, lovely bathroom, good sized kitchen, rooms are good. You can ask for breakfast, drinks and dinner in the cafe downstairs.
Gasser can arrange private taxi, accepted by tourist police, to where ever you want to travel. And takes you for a walk on the island with flavors of the local history, if you want to. He is really committed for you to have the best possible vacation. We had a lovely stay.
Ibiza House is a perfect place to stay in Aswan. Not only does the house have amazing views, all mod cons, excellent wifi connection and a great terrace but the island is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Aswan and yet so accessible by a ferry which takes a couple of minutes. This is the place to stay if you visit Aswan. You won't regret it.
AN OASIS IN THE DESERT!!!
This is an incredible location! If you can swing more than a couple of nights here do it!!! You will not regret sitting in your living room and watching the nile float peacefully by, and socializing with the extremely friendly and happy Nubians who live on the island. Gasser is a FANTASTIC person!!! He is calm, and knowledgable, and will help you book anything you want. First Gasser took us on walk around the island and we got to meet so many wonderful people and even pet a crocodile! We stocked up at the fruit stand... best mangoes of our life!!! Next, we visited Abu Simbel on a day trip and then took the rest of the day off and lounged around the apartment. Gasser also set up a felucca ride for us at sunset! Unforgettable. We had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs twice! You literally just walk out your back door and down a flight of stairs and Seeko will prepare a feast for you!
Amazing place that rivals the mainstream Movenpick next door. Faces thebeautiful Nile and nubian temples. Got an interesting look into the lives of the Nubian people. Note that you will need to take a ferry whenever you go to the mainland for a token sum. Adds to the authenticity of it though.
Didn't see much of Gasser though, could be a timing issue. Also we had agreed on 350LE for a daylong felucca trip with "lunch included" but it came to 400LE and I had to pay for lunch which turned out to be a relatively large sum. That said it was still an amazing experience but better communication would have been appreciated.
Definitely consider this place if you want a slice of Nubian life. Unforgettable view.
* I was really nice hosting Tim, he is a quite great person, yes we didn't meet much time, i was so busy during Tim's stay.
* About Felucca Trip yes i said to Tim LE 350, then Tim went to Felucca with the Captains i was so busy couldn't go with, if Tim told me that Felucca Captain's ask extra money, i will bring his money back, i just knew now from his comment.
* Oh Asians...
AWESOME! I have been backpacking the Middle East for the last three weeks and this is the BEST place I have stayed! Gasser is an incredible host and his places view is the Nile is superb.
This booking was a last minute impulse on my part. Something a bit different, something off-the-beaten-track: and that it certainly was!
I can only endorse all the positive comments previous reviewers have left - the house was delightful, communication was impeccable, and Gasser could not have been more helpful and committed as a host.
Thanks Gasser for a memorable experience... one I hope I can repeat some day.
