About This Listing
This private cottage is situated in a beautiful rear garden behind a historic craftsman house, off one of the main bike boulevards that runs between Berkeley and Oakland. San Francisco is 20 minutes away on BART, and UC Berkeley is 10 minutes away on a bike or by bus (or about a 20-minute walk through great neighborhoods).
The cottage has a queen bed, large closet, full bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, sitting area, and lots of daylight through big front windows, French doors, and two skylights. It opens onto a brick patio with outdoor furniture, a grill, vegetable garden, fruit trees, and a big hammock. We'll provide wifi, cooking supplies, locally-roasted coffee, a small library, and fresh garden produce. (Everything was just redone: walls freshly repainted, carpets cleaned, brand new bed and linens.)
We are both writers and work from home in the front house. We absolutely love the location of our place and we walk almost everywhere. It's a short walk to Rockridge BART and the Temescal district, and an even shorter walk to Whole Foods, Safeway, coffee shops, an excellent bakery, butcher shop, artisan ice cream, small movie theater and loads more. You can also easily get to a number of open space parks and beautiful hiking trails.
This is a great place for anyone coming in for meetings or guest teaching, or visiting friends/family in the surrounding neighborhoods.

This place it really special! Really cozy and peaceful, which is exactly what I needed. Sarah and Alexis were very accommodating, and easily accessible. Everything went as smooth as can be with the check in/out. Great neighborhood with a short walk to the BART, and close to good restaurants and cafés. I would definitely recommend staying here!
I booked this very last-minute as my living situation left me in a bind before leading an apartment. Sarah was very prompt in getting back to me and confirming the reservation. This little cottage was such a nice retreat for a week! It's a quiet location but a short walk to all the greatest spots on Rockridge. The kitchen has all the essentials and the whole space was clean and inviting. The ceiling fan and open doors helped with cooling the space when afternoon sun heated up through the skylights. Jammin' to the Jackson 5 record while eating dinner on the patio was the highlight. Thank you for a great week!
What a relaxing stay. The neighborhood felt very safe. The cottage was lovely and there was much more space than the pictures had shown. Sarah was very accommodating. The bed was super comfy. Amenities supplied were ideal. I had the opportunity to listen to some of the records and was able to work without interruption. What a great escape while walking distance to College Avenue was perfect! I'd certainly return.
Everything at Alexis and Sarah's garden cottage was lovely and just as described in their listing. Sarah was great about being in touch about checking in and if we ever had any questions or needed anything I knew they would only be a phone call away. The cottage was beautifully decorated, the bed was insanely comfortable, the book selection was great and the kitchen was stocked with all of the basics for cooking. The backyard location was private, quiet and peaceful. We loved walking around the neighborhood. It was easy to get to the grocery store nearby and the BART was only about a 15 minute walk away. And to top it all off, Sarah was kind enough to mail me my bracelet that I had accidentally left behind. Thanks so much for the wonderful stay, guys!
We had a great stay at the garden cottage! It's a perfect location and feels private and cozy. The cottage itself is spacious, clean, and comfortable. We didn't see Sarah and Alexis except for a brief hello, which is totally fine with us- everything we needed was already set up and they checked in throughout the week electronically. Thanks for a great stay!
About the Host, Sarah And Alexis
We are both editor/authors working for national magazines. We have lived in the Bay Area for many years and are fervent partisans for East Bay life. We recently became parents, so we spend lots of time at home playing with our baby, cooking, and walking the neighborhood.
