My house is a traditional New Mexico home with ceramic tile floors, skylights, numerous windows and walled back yard. There are two guest bedrooms (1 w/queen bed & 1/w double bed) w/guest bath in between - very separate from the owner's wing.
I have a beautiful, holistically oriented, Southwest style home with 2 guest bedrooms and guest bath. The house is traditional Santa Fe with Mexican tiled floors, vigas and posts and numerous windows and skylights.
Guests have full use of the well-equipped kitchen, spacious yard (fruit trees, small pond, beautiful gardens), sunroom and other parts of the house. There is wi-fi throughout the house.
The guest bedrooms and bathroom are very separate from the master bedroom (my bedroom) so there is plenty of privacy.
The house is conveniently located a straight line to the Santa Fe Plaza (3.5 miles) in a completely safe residential neighborhood with plenty of on-street parking. We are 5 blocks from a great walking trail that passes through Museum Hill and goes all the way up to Mount Atalaya. For those visiting Santa Fe for a workshop, the house is conveniently located within 3 miles of Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, Prajna Yoga studio and Santa Fe Soul.
You can rent 1 or both bedrooms depending on the size of your party (up to 3 people)..
In addition to myself, Patty and Tessa, my two friendly, well-behaved healer mutts live in the house. They will accept as much affection as they can get from guests but also respect privacy.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to welcoming you to Santa Fe.
Guests have access to all the public areas: well equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, sunroom and outdoor spaces.
Interaction with Guests
I am always available to make sure my guests are as comfortable as possible, and to answer questions, make recommendations and ensure that they have a wonderful visit - in my home and in Santa Fe.
Although my neighborhood is only a 5 minute drive to the Plaza (3.5 miles), it is quiet and completely safe. No need to search for a parking place here - you can park right in front of the house.
There is a wonderful hiking trail just a few short blocks away - you can take a leisurely half hour stroll or go all they way up the mountain. Just walking down my street, you can spot numerous bunnies, quail and occasionally a deer or coyote! (Don't worry, coyotes are shy with people and won't bother you.)
Alas, public transportation in Santa Fe has a lot to be desired. The buses run mainly along commercial routes and not very frequently. Taxis can be pricey. Of course it's an individual decision, but it may be worth considering a car rental. Even if you decide to stay in the Plaza, a car makes it easier to explore the surrounding towns, hiking trails and cultural sites.
Other Things to Note
If you don't feel like cooking or driving to a restaurant, there is great local New Mexican cafe about 3 blocks from the house serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
No smoking/drugs or other pets.
Santa Fe, like most of the Southwest, has been in a serious drought situation for over 10 years. Please conserve water as much as you can. Let's save this beautiful city together.
Above all, please make yourself feel at home!
My wife and I spent our "Honeymoon Christmas" week in Santa Fe, and feel so blessed to have found Laura and her lovely home. We absolutely LOVED staying with Laura and her two doggies, Tessa and Patty :) My wife was sick for the first couple of days of our stay, and Laura was helpful with ideas for altitude sickness remedies and low key places to go. It was the absolute perfect place for us to stay. Her home is clean, yet feels lived in and inviting. We felt like we were staying with a long lost Aunt!
Laura is a wonderful host, and we would recommend her home to anyone. It is a bit of a drive from downtown, but it's easy to get everywhere, and it is in a beautiful setting. We will definitely stay with her again if we ever visit Santa Fe again!
Hi Hannah and Angel,
Thanks for the lovely review. I look forward to your return with absolute perfect health all around.
And speaking of perfect health, Patty got a clean bill of health on Friday. Absolutely no cancer. She has softness in her shoulder joint probably from birth. The vet took an xray of the other side - same thing. If it were cancer it would have shown by now because osteosarcoma is extremely fast moving. But through this experience I learned a lot about bone nutrition and now I will try to keep her bones strong (Tessa's too) as they become senior dogs.
Blessings to both of you!
My daughter and I had decided to take a road trip to Santa Fe, NM and visit all the near by towns we had heard about. Neither my daughter nor I had been to Santa Fe and Laura was so helpful in recommending areas to visit, how to get there and what to expect. She was so kind in sharing her living area with us including her fridge, pantry, cooking ware.
Since it was cold, every evening Laura offered to put wood in the fire place to make the living room warm while we all often sat, read and enjoyed each others company. -- I'd like to say to say that this place is certainly near to all the "hot spots" i.e. Santa Fe Plaza, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Hyde Park and freeways to get you to any of the near by places tourist/visitors often like to visit.
I highly recommend staying here, everything was perfect! May I add that Laura's dogs are also awesome!! -- We had a great time hanging out with them and they made us feel so loved and welcome.
We just came back from a wonderful time in Santa Fe. Staying with Laura in her beautiful home was one of the highlights. We had a lovely room and bathroom and access to her amazing house. It felt like we had our own southwestern home for the week. We had access to the kitchen, the living space and got lots of dog loving from Patty and Tessa. Most importantly, Laura is a gracious and kind host. We felt an immediate connection and enjoyed our time talking with her about Santa Fe, her life, our lives, and other current topics. We would stay with Laura again and again.
Laura was a wonderful host! She was very helpful answering questions and giving directions. We really appreciated her recommendations for dining, parking and getting around town. The beds were comfy and the location was very quiet, so we had no excuses for not sleeping soundly.
Laura is a welcoming and hospitable host. Her home is classic Santa Fe in a nice neighborhood and we loved staying there for 5 nights. Comfy bed,use of the kitchen, fridge, living areas and patio, plus two loveable dogs. It was a home away from home. No tv, no breakfast but easily had use of kitchen to make our own,
short drive to plaza. We would absolutely stay there again and loved meeting Laura, who is intelligent, informative, and a good soul.
It was wonderful staying at Laura's. Just as described. It was relaxing, easy going, the dogs are sweethearts, very clean. Laura is a wonderful host and even shared her freshly baked apple crisp with me. Would definitely stay there again.
Upon our arrival we were warmly welcomed into Laura's home. We continued to feel relaxed and comfortable during our 4 night stay. In addition to feeling so at home we thoroughly enjoyed the great conversations and new friendship from our stay. The neighborhood is lovely for walking and the location could not be more convenient for exploring Santa Fe. Laura's home is open with lots of light; bedroom and bath comfortable with everything one might need. True to its description it is an oasis. Added bonus are Laura's dogs, Patty & Tess, who are friendly and willingly shared their space. We would gladly return.
It's important to me to live in a peaceful space surrounded by nature. I like to grow vegetables (even in winter in my greenhouse) and flowers, fruit trees and and outdoor vegetable garden in summer. My two dogs and I (for different reasons) love to watch the wild birds at the feeders and the small pond in the back yard.
I work at The Life Link, a local social service agency and when not at work, I take yoga and dance classes and go on the nearby trails with the dogs.
I love traveling and and meeting travelers. Welcoming people to my home and city is a great privilege for me.
