About This Listing
Come rest and relax in the oldest house (circa1778) in Gilford, NH after your day full of adventure and exploration. The house is situated on 25 acres of pristine land with woodland walking/X-country skiing/snowshoeing trails to a beautiful trout pond. I have a lovely backyard and gardens and pleasant common areas in the house. There are many local attractions as well as easy access to the Lakes and Mountains of NH for year round fun.
Come disconnect from the daily grind, there is no internet, phone, TV or even a clock in the room. But there is a most comfortable full bed and great view of the big maple in the backyard...almost like being in a treehouse.
There is ample parking and room in the garage for ski equipment or motorcycles.
I have three great cats, Pearl you may hardly see and Yardley and Leroy who will both want to be your best friend. If you are allergic to cats please consider this before booking with me. They may try to convince you they are outdoor cats but don't listen, just say "NO".
So, please come and enjoy Central NH and all it has to offer.
Spring is here and brings something special to the air and there is always something going on every week throughout the state. Ski season is almost over but still lots of snow and I am only six miles from Gunstock and 45 minutes from Ragged or Waterville. Make your reservation, then come make a memory. My house is a great base camp for whatever activities you choose. I hope to meet you soon!
PS: If I'm booked let me recommend Marianne's apartment in Laconia, NH. It's a great location and she's a wonderful host.
Private room with shared bath in the oldest house in Gilford, NH. This room is on the second floor with the bath right next door. The house is comfortable and has plenty of space to relax and get ready for a day exploring the area.
If you want to cook the kitchen is well equipped with all the basics and is pleasant to cook, eat and visit in. You are welcome to bring provisions, there is always room in the fridge. I don't provide food but will share spices and condiments.
Interaction with Guests
We can interact as much as time and desire allow.
The neighborhood is very rural. It is mostly wooded with large fields here and there and the Belknap Mountain Range is the backdrop. From my house you cannot see any neighboring homes but often see neighbors out walking.
There is VERY limited public transportation in New Hampshire. You will need a car.
1 don't let the cats out
2 recycle and compost
3 smoke outside
4 relax and enjoy the day
5 do not bring your dog
My first airbnb experience! Laurie has a very lovely, rural home that is super clean.
I'm traveling without my animal companions so it was very comforting to have 3 kitties visiting me regularly and 2 visiting dogs. Lilacs were blooming and wild flowers in profusion.
There are nice sitting areas outside. The bathroom was cleaner than many hotels I've been to. And Laurie was able to help me plan the next couple days of my vagabond vacation.
I stayed Lauries' house 1 night. Laurie is very good person. Her Cats are very cute. If you want to feel nature, Laurie's house will make you good.
Our stay with Laurie was splendid -- her home is warm and welcoming and her cats are friendly, wonderful co-hosts.
Everything was as described and we were cozy and comfortable in a fantastic bed.
Good access to beautiful lake views and walks.
Would definitely stay again if in the area.
We had a great time staying with Laurie. Her house is clean and beautiful. Our room was cozy and perfect for a snowy winter weekend away from the big city. Laurie is a very welcoming host. She gave us great suggestions on things to do and places to eat. She also let us use her kitchen where we cooked breakfast, while she made us delicious coffee and kept great company. Snowshoeing from her backyard to the nearby pond was fun! The cats were a special treat and made the overall experience even more purrfect. :) We would definitely stay with Laurie again.
This was the second installment of a two-part trip. We got to hang out with Laurie by the wood stove all evening doing crafts and chatting about our shared interest in thrift stores, podcasts, and outdoor activities. It was so nice! Laurie was kind enough to let us use her kitchen to cook our meals, too. Plus we got to cross country ski on the trails in the woods behind her house! Overall we had a fantastic time with Laurie, and we will definitely plan to stay with her next time we're in the area!

About the Host, Laurie
I'm a down to earth, nature loving, happy to share my home type person. I might cook for you, I garden regularly, enjoy quiet time, wine with friends, the outdoors, horsebackriding, skiing, snowshoeing, the lake and life in general. Having lived here most of my life I'm familiar with how to get places, better restaurants and fun stuff to see and do. When I get a chance to go away for a couple days I Iove the Pearl by the Sea in Old Orchard Beach, ME.
Meanwhile I'm looking forward to meeting you.
